Chapter Sixty-One – I accept.
Arya and Winx met up with Damien.
Winx was still looking around the car, shocked at how clean everything looked. “Arya, you are driven to school in this everyday?”
“I do walk sometimes.” Arya replied with a scowl.
“That’s because you are a bad driver or you have easily own a car.” Damien slapped back, making Winx to laugh.
Arya pursed her lips, glaring at him through the mirror. Was he showing off or really trying to get on her nerves?
Either ways, Arya looked impressed with everything. She knew Winx was a contented girl but she’d not mind her wanting a bit of such dramatic life for herself.
“Winx, right?” Damien looked back at Winx.
Her face lit up. “Uh-huh. Winx Hendrickson.”
“Hendrickson. Sounds smart. Are you related to the fashion designer couple, Hendrickson and Sheena?” Damien asked.
Winx and Arya’s face beamed, for different reasons.
Winx’s head continuously nodded. “Yes, yes! I thought you’d not remember. I mean, they are my grandparents actually but yes! We’re related! They once worked with you, didn’t they?”
While Arya was ecstatic to know that Winx already had some family members that knew Damien and will be more willing for them to have a relationship.
“Yeah. No wonder you were being very… friendly with me, earlier. Actually, the project I had with them was for my sister. She’s a model.” Damien explained.
Winx gasped. Selena Wade. She was more than a model, she was a goddess. “I heard too. They really enjoyed that project!”
“I’m glad they did. Um… Winx, you must have some of the family unique talents too, right? Actually, I don’t know if it’s too early to ask a favor, but it’s for my sister.” Damien said.
Both Winx and Arya looked at each other.
Arya wasn’t expecting him to ask favors from Winx immediately but if he wanted to be direct, she didn’t mind.
She gave Winx a thumps up and Winx smiled.
“Yeah, sure. What is it?”
Damien smiled back. “How about you having lunch with my sister, Selena, today? She is in need of a designer help for a modelling gig that came up unexpectedly and….”
“Yes!” Winx yelped suddenly. “I will take it! I’m taking the offer! Working with Selena Wade? I’m definitely taking it!”
There was a shadow of a grin on Damien’s face. Convincing the girl didn’t take much. And with Arya’s scowl, another of her plan had been destroyed.
“I know it’s a big offer and all, but why not work with Selena next time. Let’s have lunch together this time?” Arya offered.
Winx had already been looking for a way to have Arya and her husband be together so this offer was just perfect. “No, I’d have to pass today. I’m taking this offer!”
There was nothing else Arya could do.
“Selena couldn’t get anyone else she could boss around?” Arya asked Damien.
“It’s not like that.” He replied. “She needed someone who can do it. Your friend has the roots. Selena’s manager isn’t around to help. She said they’d be a pay too…”
“Say no more!” Winx charged. “I said I’m taking it!”
Her head was raised high and confidence surged through her veins. If Damien thought she could do it, then she could.
Also, a big time model like Selena wouldn’t even need her help but she’d offer any other assistance that she can.
And most importantly, it’d make Arya spend some time with her husband outside.
Winx cleared her throat. “Oh, Damien. Have you noticed that Arya can be really violent when flustered?”
Arya snapped her head at Winx and went directly for her neck. “What are you saying, bitch?”
“This is exactly… what I’m saying… bitch!” Winx stammered, trying to get Arya’s hands away from her neck.
“Winx, I’d be dropping you off at my sister’s agency.” He tried to change the subject seeing how pissed it made Arya feel.
Winx frowned but nodded. “Yeah, sure. But she’s violent though. Maybe you’re not agreeing because she’s your wife.”
Arya balled her fists and flashed them at Winx who raised her hands to save her life.
Damien chuckled. “I just think she’s cute when flustered. I haven’t really seen the violent side, sorry.”
Arya nodded. “See? I’m not violent!”
Winx cocked her head. Why wasn’t Arya taking Damien up on his compliment? He said the same thing Seth said, even nicer but she wasn’t fawning over him.
“Someone said something similar too. I think you two are being nice to Arya.” Winx concluded.
“No, the first person was saying the truth…”
“That you are cute when flustered? That’s still what your husband said too.” Winx interrupted.
Arya stayed mute. If she kept talking, then she could be asked who called her cute. Damien was already staring at her questioningly through the mirror.
Even if, to her, Seth calling her cute meant more to Damien calling her cute. Still, she had felt quite nervous when he did.
“If you usually bring up that question, Winx, please stop. Arya isn’t violent. I think it’s her love language in a way. Hitting people when flustered, who knows.” Damien defended again.
Winx nodded, impressed that he defended his wife. “Hmm. Hmm. It could be. Here I am regretting why she loves me.”
Arya rolled her eyes then kept them looking outside the window. Maybe she shouldn’t have brought Winx.
Winx was only bringing her closer to Damien. She had no intention of snatching him up. The car slowed down.
“I hope I’m not late. So, Winx, this is the agency. I’m sorry we can’t have lunch together. Maybe next time.” Damien said.
“Sure.” was Winx reply as she packed her bag to alight.
“Yeah, next time!” Arya interjected immediately. “Also, you can call her up alone when you’re less busy.”
That way, Winx wouldn’t set her with Damien and Damien could freely be direct with her.
But the other two stared at her weirdly after her interjection.
Was she being too obvious? Did they realize her plan?
“Won’t you be there?” Damien asked.
She shook her head. “I could be busy.”
“Then I’d wait till you’re less busy so we can have it together. No need to rush anything.” Winx shrugged, getting down the car. “Bye for now then.”
Arya nodded.
Damien looked into the car. “Um… Arya, wait a bit for me. Let me introduce Winx to Selena, alright?”
She nodded, grudgingly. The two left.
“After all I went through, even with this grim reaper attire, I am still left alone with Damien with no Winx in the equation.”
Arya sighed at intervals as she soliloquized. Things really didn’t work the way she hoped it would, all the time.
She looked at the front seat, besides the driver, hoping to advance there but noticed a small bag on it.
Out of curiosity, she peeked in. There was a light blue dress inside with red heels. She dropped it back.
“Did Damien get them for me to change into?” she wondered, looking at her clothes. “Is our lunch some kind of date?”
Her cheeks began to heat up. She was blushing again.
How could he be so thoughtful! It almost made her annoyed how perfect he was being.
