Chapter Fifty-Nine – A threat.
The repairs at the Wade’s mansion was going smoothly. Damien only wanted to drop by but now he had to buy a meal for every worker.
He reluctantly gave his card to his butler who nudged him playfully. “Be happy to give.” The old man said.
Damien rolled his eyes. He would have been happier to give the workers if not that they had already extolled money from him just for minor works to be done.
It felt like he was building a mini apartment and not rebuilding a broken balcony. All because he’s the young billionaire, everyone wanted a piece of him.
As he plopped down on a couch inside, one of the workers came running to him. He noticed the man was of Asian descent. “Sir Damien Sir. Can I have a word with you?”
Naturally, he became uneasy with that question. “Stand there while talking, please.” He replied.
For all he knew, that could be a henchmen of Debby wanting to inflict harm on him.
However when he said that, he noticed the hurt expression the man had and reasoned that he could just be a random Asian man.
“Sorry to bother you but I have an information I’d like to relay to you. For your safety.” The man mumbled.
With a smile, Damien tapped on the couch he was on. “Oh, I thought you wanted to order me around or something. Please sit. Let’s hear it.”
The man nodded and stayed at the far end of the couch. “Well, it was a completely random conversation that led to your butler mentioning you are friends with Debby Chan.”
Damien froze, gazing at the man directly in his eyes. “Yes, it’s public knowledge actually. I had invited her as a guest speaker at one of our prestigious universities.”
“Right, well, you know the rumors that she is also related to a big time mafia lord? I’m Chinese, from her hometown, so this is known to me too.” The man whispered.
Damien couldn’t tell where the man was going to but he was willing to listen, yet having his guard alert. “Yes, I’ve heard that too. What does it have to do with me, please?”
The man looked around before coming closer. “Some of my friends back then said they heard them talk of attacking an American Billionaire. A second attack actually.”
Damien smiled at the man. “Is that so?”
“Yeah, and you were the only one that came to mind. You were recently attacked, right?”
Damien folded his legs and gave the man a death stare. “I’m not scared of mafias. Be it a third or fourth attack. Debby can’t even put me in a tight spot.”
The man nodded understandably. “I was just worried for your safety so I decided to inform you. Stay well.” He scurried off.
Damien’s gaze followed the man.
How’d the man link Debby to the attack that happened? How did he know that Debby had issues with him? And why didn’t he revolt when he said Debby couldn’t put him in a tight spot?
It meant one thing. That man was an informant Debby sent to threaten him. Like it would work.
It was never said in the need that it was a Chinese mafia that attacked him so how’d the public know?
And a second attack from Debby? Her first attack was child’s play. He had used it to his advantage and garner sympathy from the media and the masses.
A second attack would make things complicated but not at all disadvantageous to him, she should keep trying her luck.
As long as her silly attacks are direct to him, exempting his family and friends, then he’d be okay. “But Debby doesn’t play that clean, does she?” he stood up from the couch.
His butler walked in, handing him his card. “Are you okay? You seem pissed.”
“I am actually quite pissed. I’d go vent somewhere else. Bye for now.” He brushed past the man.
The old man looked puzzled, wondering if it was because he had to buy a meal for his workers. “Goodness, he’s so petty.”
(At The University)
“Are you the Grim Reaper?”
If Arya could get a dollar for how many times someone had asked her if she was cosplaying the Grim Reaper, she’d be richer than Damien.
She later found out that a movie based on the grim reaper had premiered recently hence why everyone was hooked on the character.
“This is very embarrassing. And after everything, Winx met Damien without me.” She murmured to herself while the class was ongoing.
The professor, having apt hearing, turned to the direction of the sound and glared at her. Half of the students followed the woman’s gaze.
Arya froze. “Oh my. I’m so sorry. I’m very sorry.”
Winx snickered quietly and the professor looked away.
The class ended ten minutes later and Arya was sprinting out to the halls. “Winx, hurry up. We have to have lunch with him later. Hurry up before he changes his mind.”
She paused in front of a door and kept her hands on her waist, waiting for Winx to catch up. “If he makes up an excuse not to have lunch with us, it will be really bad.”
“Why? You’re not even that hungry. You’ve been munching snacks all day!” Winx breathed heavily.
Arya shook her head. “My poor little Winx. You know not of the plans I have. Just roll along. Rich men are time conscious. If you beg for time and they give you, don’t waste it!”
Her best friend rolled her eyes to the statement. She couldn’t place why Arya was suddenly excited to meet Damien or why she had to be there however she didn’t mind it much.
The door they stood in front of, opened, startling them. “If a man would only give you time when you beg for it, doesn’t it make him a toxic fellow? You know, a red flag?”
It was Seth, eating some peanuts.
Winx smirked, nodding. “Exactly. Except this isn’t really the case. Arya is just excited to see…”
Arya pushed her to the wall immediately. “Not that… I mean… not really.” She stammered.
Seth’s eyes were on Winx, who was almost smashed to the wall. His eyes went back to Arya’s flustered face.
“You can be really violent when flustered.” His mind went back to how Arya had stepped on her sister’s foot when she said something she didn’t agree on.
Winx chuckled and Arya looked down. He thought she was violent? That wasn’t a good sign.
“Well, it is kinda cute anyway. Enjoy your lunch with this man who you begged for time.” Seth smiled.
Winx nodded. “Yeah, sure. And in return, we will bill him, a lot.” She clenched her fists.
Seth shook his head as he walked out, waving.
Arya was bamboozled for a while.
She turned to Winx who sighed.
“Yes, I heard. He called you cute. But before that, he said you were violent. And, yes, yes, you really are violent.”
Small screams came out from Arya’s throat but she was carefully not to let them all out.
Her face was heating up badly and she began smooching it. “I’m cute.” She said to herself. “He said I am cute when flustered.”
“And violent too. Don’t forget the first part.” Winx reminded, walking to the exit.
