Chapter Fifty-Four – Her plan.
Arya waved her phone in front of Damien. On the screen was a picture of Winx and her phone number.
“This is Winx. She’s majoring in the same course as I. Do you remember ever seeing her?”
The look Damien gave Arya was empty and uninterested but she didn’t budge. He typed Winx’s number on his phone and sighed before dialing it.
“I should only tell her you’re ill, can’t move and depressed? If she asks why then what will I say?” he asked Arya.
She shifted closer to him, making his face flush for a second. “Just tell her. With a convincing tone. They are low chances of her asking why. But if she does, then invite her over.”
A shiver ran down Damien’s spine. What did she mean? He should invite her own friend over? Was it part of her prank?
Arya gave him a reassuring smile and he looked away. Whatever it was she was doing, he wasn’t expecting it to affect him so there was no problem.
The line went through and he heard the stern voice of the supposed Winx, “Hello?”
He glanced at Arya’s excited face and then back on his phone screen. Since this Winx was Arya’s only friend in university then she should know of his marriage with Arya.
“Hello, Winx. I’m Sir Wade of the Wade group. This isn’t an official call but I’d like your attention, please.”
He noticed Arya’s smile fall and she sent a glare his way, he didn’t look at her.
There was a pause from Winx before she hummed. “Sir Wade? How will I be sure that this isn’t a scam call? Sir Wade has no reason to call me.”
“About that, my wife, Arya, your best friend, wanted me informing you that she was ill, body couldn’t move and is depressed. She won’t be coming to school for a while.”
At her own side, Winx paused the Kdrama she was watching on her laptop to listen properly. “Oh, you are really Sir Wade. Um-um, I’m really sorry but I wasn’t expecting your call.”
“I never expected to call you either but my wife wanted you to know. That will be all. Goodbye and take care.”
Winx paused before answering. “Um… yeah. Thanks.”
Damien hung up afterwards.
One thing was clear, whatever reason Arya wanted him to call for Winx had been defeated. She didn’t succeed. Her sulking expression proved it.
“You were right, Arya.”
Arya faced him. “Right about what?” she wondered if he had seen through her plan. He was the genius billionaire anyway; she wouldn’t be surprised.
But he replied. “You were right about Winx not asking why. You two seem to share similar brain cells and unnecessary suspicion of people.”
Arya’s expression was blank before she smirked. He didn’t figure out her plan after all. “Yeah, we can be like that sometimes. She’s fun, right? You can totally call her if you want to reach me when I’m at school.”
“Sure.” He smiled, rising from the bed. “I’d go get some drugs for you since you aren’t feeling well.”
“What? I’m not sick, no need.” She jumped from the bed to stop him but he slipped past the door before she got hold of him. Arya face palmed. This was horrible.
She hated drugs and wasn’t even sick. Her only reason for staying at home and making up that excuse was simple. To get Damien to be romantically interested in Winx.
It was a far stretch but could totally happen. Arya had already deduced that she wouldn’t be able to get Seth to like her in time. She wasn’t even in his radar and he was getting over a breakup.
To keep her own end of the deal, she has to make sure that Damien finds a love interest so it wouldn’t fall on her. And who else to pair him up with than her best friend.
Winx was already dreaming of some dramatic love story between a CEO and herself, an ordinary college girl. “I’d make your dream a reality baby.” Arya said with clenched fists.
Just then, her phone beeped. She fell on the bed in excitement. She had been expecting Winx’s call since she talked with Damien.
It’d have taken her off guard and she’d need some sort of explanation. Arya wasn’t keen on letting her into her plan as she’d be against it as she already sees Damien as her husband.
But if they both fall in love in a dramatic way and she gives them consent, then things will get even more interesting.
“Oh hello?” Arya greeted in her most sickly voice she could fake. “Winx, right? How are you?”
“Girl, I should ask you. How are you? Your husband called me recently. I was blown away, totally taken off guard. Is your condition that bad?” Winx asked, worriedly.
A frown rested on Arya’s face. She didn’t like that Winx used ‘husband’ for Damien. She had to make sure she stopped thinking that he was taken.
“Oh, I’m good. I just wanted you to know. Sorry to blow you away. Getting a call from a billionaire CEO as the ordinary girl you are felt like scenes in Kdrama, right?” Arya giggled.
Winx smiled, “Kinda but no need to raise my hopes high. Introduce me to your husband properly so someday, he can introduce me to his friends…”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah… keep your hopes high. You are the one who needs a CEO husband not me. I just want to be with someone I like and can go all out for.”
Winx had a feeling she wasn’t talking about Damien. “You mean Seth?”
Arya remembered their last conversation concerning that matter and twisted her lips, “Hmm, I’m talking about Seth. I’m going to make him like me, you’d see.”
“Well, actually, good luck.”
There were few seconds of silence within Arya. Did Winx just wish her good luck? “Um, thanks. Why the change of heart?”
“Well, its not like you’d listen when I say forget him. Also, today you didn’t show up at school, no one bothered, except Seth. He asked me why you weren’t in school and all.”
“Really?!!” Arya yelled, then rolled to the end of her bed. So, was she in his radar after all or was he only being friendly?
