Chapter Forty-Seven – Gift box.
Relocation was easier this time for Arya. Maybe because she enjoyed moving with her new fun family or because she was excited to be in a classy hotel.
Seeing the two bed in the room made her heart relax. One bed would have been really awkward for both of them.
Not to add that sometimes Damien moved in his sleep, but she doubt he knew that.
“Ah! Soft and comfy!” she moaned when she fell on the bed, legs and hands spread.
“You like it?” Damien appeared from no where and Arya immediately rolled to the sides and fell.
“Your reflexes are really dangerous. It seems you enjoy rolling and falling.” Damien teased, walking into the room and taking a seat on his bed.
Slowly, Arya peeked from below the bed. Was he complaining about her reflexes when he always scared her to death?!
She was just enjoying some comfort along with peace and quiet when he startled her! Her eyes shut tightly. She should forget about that for now.
Since they were all alone in the room, she should try sleeping before he would engage her in a conversation. As she jumped into bed to doze off, he stood up again.
“Won’t you have dinner, with me?” he asked.
She paused. Normally, she’d jump out of bed to have her dinner, but with the way he added ‘with me’, it felt personal.
“I’m good. I can manage.” She replied, keeping the blanket over her head to hide her regretting face.
“Why manage when you can have dinner?” he chuckled. “Do you want to have it on bed?”
Arya took off the blanket to breath air. Dinner in bed? She’d never had that before. But wasn’t that a romantic thing? She wanted to avoid such stuff.
“Um… no thanks. I’d just sleep like this. I’m good…”
“You don’t have appetite cos you’re worried about Anna?” Damien’s voice was a little stern. “If that’s it, don’t worry. I called her earlier and she’s okay. You should have dinner.”
Arya met his serious gaze on her. She’d never felt so much pressure to eat, even if she’d want to. Her head slowly nodded. “Alright then. I’d eat.”
A smile came to Damien’s stern expression. “It’d be here soon. Stay awake for a bit.” He walked into the bathroom.
Arya was slightly scared of the smile that came to his face after being stern. Was that the scary part Connor spoke of? She smirked. It was definitely something.
As long as he would be stern or scold her for something related to her own good, with no violent measure, then she was okay with the marriage.
“The arranged marriage.” She reminded herself.
It was becoming a natural marriage and she didn’t like it. The pressure of always acting was getting to her. And what was worse was the fact Damien didn’t seem to be acting.
“To be fair, how do I expect him to act? Ignore me when no one is around and talk to be when they are? I’d feel bad about that too.” She muttered.
A sigh left her lips as she left to answer the door. There was a gift box delivery. Arya’s cheeks reddened.
She wondered if it was from Damien and he had wanted her to take it hence he stayed in the bathroom. But her fantasies died when she saw it was addressed to Sir Damien.
She took it in and closed the door loudly. “Who was sending gift box to his room number? Fan girls?”
Arya wasn’t sure why but it irritated her. Not cause she was jealous but the fact that the girls didn’t know when to stop.
She was reminded of Debby who was in love with Damien and was a brat to her because of that. “Young girls should control their feelings. They can’t do much about it anyway.”
Dropping the box on Damien’s bed, a letter slipped past the wrap. There was a small phrase written on it.
“From Seth Darwin. Thanks for today.”
Arya fell back. Seth? Her Seth or another Seth? Why were they meeting up? What did they talk about? What happened today? Thank you for what!!
Many more questions ran through Arya’s head. She felt like a girl who was caught cheating on her husband, even if the case was totally different.
“I’m overthinking. Damien and Seth were set to meet eventually and even with my help. Maybe Damien had given some business advice, that’s all.” She nodded at her words.
Still her eyes remained glued to the note. Whatever they talked about, it made an emotional impression on Seth that made him send a gift to Damien.
She had never heard of him gifting any person before.
Arya’s hands went to her hips. This should be their first meeting. Damien must be a really amazing person to make a superb first impression on Seth.
And the fact Damien didn’t mention Seth, Arya reckoned that he may have viewed his meeting with Seth as just casual and coincidental. It was obvious that it was opposite for Seth.
“Should I ask him about this? Or maybe I should watch his reaction?” she asked herself.
The bathroom door opened and she jumped to her bed, hurriedly covering herself before he sighted her.
“Arya? Are you asleep already? Dinner isn’t here yet.” He reminded.
She sat up, but didn’t look at him, in case he wasn’t fully dressed. “Yeah, sure. Um… the gift box just came now.”
The box was thrown to the ground. She had the urge to turn and look but she didn’t. Why would he throw it?
“Oh my, I nearly broke this.” Damien sighed.
Arya exhaled in relief. She wanted him to speak more on it but for a while he was quiet, but not unwrapping it either.
“Um… I left the bathroom dressed though. If that’s why you are turned.”
Arya’s face reddened. Could he read her that clearly? She gently laid back with a fake smile. The box was still on the bed with him, and he seemed engrossed in his phone. Wouldn’t he open it up?
“Do you want to know what’s in it?”
She looked away. Why would he ask her?
“It’s probably a suit or something. I’m thanking Seth via the email he left here. Since he left an email then it means this is a formal gift. No need for excitement.” Damien explained.
Arya nodded. But then froze, how did he know that she knew that it was Seth? And she wondered if Damien’s ‘no need for excitement’ was directed to himself or to her?
He easily read her. Did he also know she was eager to know what his encounter with Seth was like?
Her heart began beating quickly. Did he know about her feelings for Seth? She wasn’t doing anything bad yet she still felt guilty. There was no smile on Damien’s face either.
