Chapter 15

Book:The Girl He Hates Published:2024-6-2

“Oh, Hello there,” called a voice from the back, grabbing Kiera’s attention.
“Hi,” Kiera said, turning her head towards the owner of the voice and coming face to face with a beautiful woman. She looks very similar to her in look with her brown hair and petite figure, but her eyes are blue, different from Kiera’s brown eyes.
“I’m Freya, and you must be Mr. Gray’s new assistant.”
Kiera nodded her head at Freya’s words, shaking hands with her. “Kiera,”
“By the way, I’m Mr. Aaron’s private assistant, so if you need any help or need someone to share your latest hot gossip in or around the office, Freya’s at your service,” said Freya, smirking devilishly.
“Okay,” said Kiera, admiring Freya’s bold attitude and playful nature.
“OMG, I should leave,” Freya said, turning her head to leave. “Wait; give me your phone,”
“Why?”
“Quick,” said Freya, hastily grabbing Kiera’s phone from her hand, and calling someone. “Here, I saved my number on your phone and also miscalled myself from your number to save yours, too. Call me if you need anything, bye.”
“She is fast,” Kiera mumbled to herself, seeing Freya leave, but she didn’t mind it. At least she has a friend in this office with whom she can have a friendly conversation, because here Jason is her boss, and it’s not good to be too close to the boss in the workspace. People might get the wrong signals about their relationship.
Kiera went to Jason’s cabin with the parcel that Jason said to her to collect from the reception, standing in front of Jason’s room, knocking on the door before entering.
“You don’t have to be so formal with me when we are alone,” Jason said, questioning her, too reserved behavior with him. Jason always likes to keep a professional distance from his employees, but when Kiera treats him like her boss and not as a friend, it annoys the hell out of him.
“You know, I’m confused. I don’t know if I should treat you as a friend or as a boss. I know I agreed to work with you as your assistant, but I don’t think I deserved to be here I don’t know… just because I know you I’m here, I don’t think I deserve a place here with all the professions around you.” Kiera said, her voice expressing the sadness in her mood. “It just seems unfair….,” Kiera sighed loudly.
Jason stood from his place, and sat next to Kiera, noticing her sad appearance, which was more emotional than physical. “Sit,” Jason murmured, placing both his hands on either side of her shoulders, and asking Kiera to sit on the chair.
“Tell me what happens first. Did someone mistreat or tell you something,” Jason asked softly, bending down on his knees, holding Kiera’s hands on her lap, as they both were eyes to eyes with each other, both looking at each other.
Kiera shook her head at his question, saying no. “It’s just I don’t feel like I deserve to stay here with the people that work so hard to achieve the position where they’re now and look at me as your assistant just because I’m related to you,” Kiera said with a sigh. “I feel like stealing someone else’s valuable opportunity to work here. Someone more deserving and worthy than I am.”
“Kiera,” Jason said with a sigh. “Look at me. Do you think I would have asked you? If I ever doubted your capability,”
Kiera looked at Jason with her eyes focused on his, both staring at each other. “You don’t know how capable are you, but I do, and so does your father,”
Kiera’s eyes watered as Jason mentioned her father. She is distressed that even after months have passed, her father has shown no signs of recovering. He is still in a coma. Even the doctor doesn’t know what to do about his condition.
“Kiera,” Jason murmured, wiping the tears from her eyes.
“I’m okay,” Kiera whispered, plastering a smile on her face, concealing her pain.
Jason stared at Kiera’s face, silently, thinking about how the person he once hated became so influential in his life that he couldn’t even see her sad. Seeing Kiera in pain hurts Jason.
“You know, why I marry you and separate you from your dad,” Jason questioned, in his soft and calm voice.
“You thought hurting me will hurt my dad too,” Kiera said in one line.
“You’re right, but I also wanted to weaken your father by taking the brain and power that can help him build his empire even from scratch,” Jason said, holding both Kiera’s hands in his hand and planting a soft kiss over them.
“What do you mean?” Kiera questioned, not understanding what he was trying to say.
“Kiera…,” Jason said, smiling. “You were the brains and power of your father, and if I haven’t separated you from your father, then my mission would have been a total flop. You don’t know how good you’re at leading people, guiding them, and motivating them to do anything. Your father knows this and that is why he always keeps you with him, guiding, teaching you in every way.”
Kiera doesn’t know what to say after hearing Jason’s words. She never once thought that Jason sees her like this.
“I want the same, that’s why I asked you to work here, so you can learn more than you already know, Kiera you have the education and qualities of being what I’m, but you need little guidance, and I want to provide you that,” Jason here hides a little truth from her, that he also wants her fall in love with him, and that is also one of the reasons he trying to keep her with him always. But he will not mention it here, or at least not now.
“You think so…,” Kiera said after minutes of soul searching. And at her words, Jason smiled, nodding his head.
“But there is a problem with that task,” Jason said, trying to look serious.
“What?” Kiera was tense at his words.
“This is very important, and we have to have it now or both of us both will be finished.”
Kiera doesn’t know the meaning of any of his words, but seeing the seriousness in Jason’s voice, Kiera stood quickly, “Let’s solve that problem, then.”
“Let’s go,” Jason said, trying very hard to maintain seriousness, but he was laughing very hard from inside. But he can’t just say it.
“Come,” Kiera said as they both left the office together.
