Chapter 14

Book:The Girl He Hates Published:2024-6-2

Kiera, controlling her anger, turns her gaze at Aria’s, who is now sleeping. So, she spoke calmly, even with all the fury. “Jason I don’t even know what to say after hearing this, you spied on me and what’s more that you’re hiding from me,” Kiera said calmly, but her words are sarcastic enough to scare Jason. “I might be fool if I trust you even after knowing all these,”
“I’m sorry, but trust me, it was at that time when I considered you as my enemy, and honestly, I couldn’t find much about you. Maybe you’re too good at hiding, or you don’t have any secrets in life.” Jason responded, beaming at his own words.
Kiera sighed in relief. She never wants anyone, not even Jason, to know about the part of life that she tried so hard to hide. And maybe by coincidence, Jason stated the truth about Kiera’s life; she is too good at hiding her secrets.
“Hey… you okay,” Jason asked, looking at Kiera’s change in attitude.
Jason scanned Kiera’s eyes even when she was smiling, but her smile seemed fake to him. She seemed upset. Why? He doesn’t know.
“I guess I will give it a try. Tell me what to do,” Kiera said, diverting her mind to anything other than the thoughts running in her mind.
“Really,” Jason screeched in joy.
“Shh,” they both said at the same time, looking at Aria, and laughed, fascinated by their child-like behavior.
********
It’s been a week since Jason became Kiera’s teacher, helping her to learn practical skills in business and rebuild her father’s company, bringing it to the glory it was before.
And now here she is standing in front of the building of Gray Enterprises, second-guessing her decision to work here. Not just that. She also regrets her decision to work like any other employee here, not as a friend, or his ex-wife, but as an ordinary employee. And for that reason, she is standing all alone here outside the building, scolding herself for making such a decision.
“You know what, let’s just go inside,” Kiera mumbled to herself.
With some self-motivation, Kiera walked inside the building and was stunned for a moment, looking at all the people. Both men and women are running around working in crisp suits and sleek hair; I mean, what the people here are so perfect, they look more like robots than a human being. Now, Kiera knows why Jason is like a bossy bastard with his black suits on, trying to dominate everyone in his life.
Just as Kiera was busy admiring the people here and second-guessing her decision, she stumbled on her feet, but before her body could hit the ground, two muscular arms wrapped around her waist, preventing her downfall.
“You okay,” the stranger asked, admiring Kiera’s face, looking at the way her eyes were tightly closed in panic.
Kiera slowly opened her eyes, turning her eyes around, happy to not fall. She then moves her eyes to look at the stranger who is holding her in his arms. “Thank you,” she said, hoping his hands would leave him. But the stranger unheard of her request, staring at Kiera with his eyes, admiring each curve and inch of her face. “Thank You,” Kiera said again, this time aloud.
“Oh, I’m sorry, are you okay,” Kiera nodded her head at the question.
Leaving the stranger behind, Kiera made her way to reception to get her employee ID. She then moved to the elevator going up to Jason’s office, on top of the building.
“Hey, wait for me,” the stranger called, stopping her elevator door from closing and stepping inside. “By the way, I’m Aaron.”
“Kiera,” Even though Kiera is in no mood to introduce herself, she doesn’t want to act rude on the first day of her work.
“Never seen you before. Are you new here,” asked Aaron.
Kiera nodded at his words, “First day.”
“Which department?”
Now Kiera is for sure annoyed by all this interrogation and hoping for the door to open quickly. It’s annoying to be alone in an elevator with a talkative person. “Assistant to CEO,” Kiera said, making her as short as it can be.
“Oh, so you’re replacing Gemma.”
Now, who is Gemma, Kiera. Maybe she is Jason’s assistant who is on maternity leave. Yeah, Jason mentioned her name to Kiera, and she is the reason Kiera is here now because Jason wanted to keep closing and working with him so she can learn much more with his guidance by working close to him.
Before Aaron could ask any more questions, Kiera’s phone rings and she sighed in happiness. Finally, saved by the call, and without waiting for any second, Kiera attended the phone call.
“Kiera, where are you? I have been waiting for you for an hour. Are you fine and how many more times need to come? Do you want me, pick you up, or are you sick…,” Jason questioned Kiera without giving her a chance to speak.
“Stop,” Kiera said , finally smiling at Jason’s behavior. “I’m fine, okay, so take a deep breath and calm down. I was late because Aria was crying when I was leaving, so I calmed her and also promised her, we will cook her favorite cake together when I come home, and you also have to help me, Okay.”
“Thank God, and don’t worry, I’m great at baking cakes,”
“We’ll see about that,” she laughed, saying.
“Yeah, we will. Now tell me how much time you need to come to my office.”
“An hour, I guess.” Kiera lied and smiled, hearing Jason sigh on the phone.
“Okay, see you then,”
“Okay,” Kiera said, ending the call.
“Boyfriend?” Aaron asked with his eyes staring at Kiera.
Damn, this guy is weird, Keira said to herself. And before she can say anything, the door of the elevator opens, stopping at her destination. “Sorry, have to go,” Kiera said, leaving as fast as she could, saved by the bell.
Jason, with his desk in front of his laptop, seems busy working on something important. But in reality, his mind was occupied with thinking of Kiera. He can’t focus on anything else other than her. And wanted her to come to him as fast as possible, but it might take one more hour for her to be here. But Jason here is restless, waiting for Kiera.
Jason had to leave early in the morning, that’s why he can’t come to the office with Kiera on her first day. But he knows Kiera wouldn’t want him to drop her at the office because she wants no one to know about our friendship and wants to work here like any other employee who has no relation with the boss. Kiera even wanted him to treat her like any other ordinary employee. The fact pissed him, but he was happy at the end of Kiera being with him 24/7. Maybe he can get Keira to fall in love with love.
Jason was deep in his thoughts when knocking on the door brought him back to reality. “Come in,” Jason, without looking up at the person in his doorway, went back to his work.
“Mr. Gray, your black coffee without sugar.”
Jason looked up, hearing the familiar voice, and smiled, seeing Kiera holding a mug of coffee. Wasting no second Jason reached near Kiera, hugging her in his arms. “You’re late on your first day,” said Jason sternly, separating himself from Kiera.
“Sorry….,”
“Next time, you’ll come with me.”
“But Jason…..,”
“No buts, and listen to me. I’ll drop a little farther from the building. Don’t worry, no one will notice.”
Kiera nodded her head. She knows she can’t win with Jason on matters like this.
“Coffee,” Kiera said, changing the subject. “Have you eaten?”
Jason shook his head at Kiera’s question.
“Here,” said Kiera, grabbing a package from her purse.
Jason’s amazed. How does she know he is hungry? “How do you know?”
“Come and eat before you’ve any other meeting,” Kiera demanded, asking him to sit on the couch.
Jason took a bite of the sandwich Kiera brought for him, “You made it,” Jason asked in surprise that she brought him homemade breakfast.
Kiera nodded her head at his question, moving eyes around his office. “Do you mind if I look around?”
“GO ahead, do whatever you like till I eat. Then have some work from you,” Jason said between bites, enjoying his delicious meal.
Kiera, without wasting any second, started scanning his office, moving here and there excited like a child. She then stood in front of his large glass window, taking a few steps towards and stepping back. Jason stared at Kiera in fascination, loving the look on her face as she strolls around the space belongs to him.
“Kiera,” Jason called. “There is a blue file on the desk. Take it and come here,”
“Oh, okay,” answered Kiera, sitting opposite to Jason.
“Read it thoroughly. It has all the details for our next meeting.”
“Okay,” said Kiera. “When is the meeting?”
“In an hour, and listen from now on, you must arrange all meetings, take all my calls, and everywhere I go, you have to come with me,” Kiera nodded her head at Jason’s words.
“Jason… Sorry, I mean Mr. Grey,”
“Call me Jason when we’re alone.”
“Okay, can you tell me where’s my desk?” asked Kiera?
“Oh yes! Your desk, right there,” pointed Jason in the direction where the room’s separated by the glass.
“So close,” Kiera mumbled.
“Why don’t you like it?” asked Jason, taking one last sip of his coffee.
“Nah, it’s perfect. I just go and read the documents,” Kiera said, pointing the file at her hand.
Jason nodded his head and smiled looking at her, working on her desk dressed in all formal. It’s the first time Jason has seen Kiera dressed like this, with heels, a blazer, and a pencil shirt. And God, she looks so beautiful.
But the peace didn’t last for long and ended with the knocking of the door. “Come in,” Jason shouted, pissed, making his way to his desk.
“Good morning, Jason my buddy.” The voice is no other than his friend and his CFO Aaron. Because only he has the guts to call him by his name in his company.
“I heard you got a new assistant.” The question pissed Jason.
“So?”
“Nothing, she is hot.”
Now Jason is very pissed. “Why are you here, Aaron?”
“Nothing, just wanted to say hello, so where is Kiera?”
“You met her,” Jason is disturbed and pissed both at once.
“Yup, we crossed our way in the hall.” Aaron said with a smirk.
“She is married,” Jason answered in one line.
“Really,” Aaron questioned, surprised.
“Now, if you leave,” Jason orders with his voice dominating.
But just as he was about to leave, Kiera entered Jason’s office, stopping Aaron in his place.
“Ja… Mr. Grey,” Kiera corrected, noticing Aaron’s presence in the room. “I guess it’s the wrong file.”
“Let me see,” Jason replied, taking the file from Kiera’s hand.
“We meet again,” said Aaron, holding a flirty smirk on his face.
“Hello.” Kiera’s reply was more professional than Aaron’s.
“Here, the correct file,” Jason handed the file to Kiera.
Kiera nodded her head, turning around to leave. But her leg got caught on the end of the rug, making her lose her balance. But before her body falls on the ground, the hand grabs her again. “Gotcha, again,” Aaron said, holding Kiera in his arms. “I’m suspecting your intentions. Maybe you lost balance, or you want to fall in my arms. And if the second one is true, then its a pleasure to have you in arms with no questions asked,”
Hearing Aaron’s words, Kiera pushed his chest away creating some space between them. “I’m sorry, but my leg got caught on the rug,” Kiera said, pointing her finger to the rug below. “Excuse me,” Kiera left, ashamed of her clumsy behavior.
“God,” Aaron said with a sigh, sitting on an armed chair, smiling to himself. “I like her,”
“What do you mean?” Jason asked, startled by Aaron’s words.
“Heard of love at first sight, I guess it’s happening to me.”
“WHAT,” Jason couldn’t help but shout at Aaron’s confession. “I mean, there is no love at first sight,” Jason justified, hoping to change Aaron’s mind.
“There is, and the moment Kiera fell in arms, there’s a feeling a sensation that sparked in my heart that I never felt before,” Aaron put his heart in front of Jason, his friend not knowing the person, he declaring his love, at first sight, is the love of his friend too. But the only difference is Jason doesn’t know how to confess his feelings to Kiera after what he did to her. That not all of Jason is also afraid that his love can ruin the bond he formed with Kiera.
It was his mistake to ask Kiera to work with him, and because of his mistakes, he has a competitor like Aaron, who is not just handsome and rich but also not afraid to share his his feelings to Kiera, like Jason.
