I head to mom. I need her on my side here. She knows something is up. I can tell. I can’t tell her everything, she won’t believe me. She doesn’t want to see the bad in either of her sons. Probably more so with Markus right now, since he was the one wronged according to everyone’s eyes. I know Darius made mistakes, but I can kind of see the reason. Markus messed with his head, confused the shit out of him. He didn’t know what was happening. He just knew he needed me. If he knew that I was supposed to be his, I doubt he would have acted the same way. If he knew from the start that I was his mate, I know he wouldn’t have done the same things.
She is sitting in her office when I come in. “I am so glad to see you. We need to talk.” Her head shoots up when I enter the room.
She motions for me to take the seat in front of her, which I gladly take. “Now, tell me the truth. I know you talked to the goddess. There is no way that you didn’t. What happened?” She folds her hands in front of her on the desk, ready to hear the story.
“I lied because what she told me was bad. I am not sure I can tell you yet without proof. I am going to ask you to trust me. You’re going to have proof tonight. At least if all goes according to plan. I am going to call you tonight around eight. I want you to answer, but mute your end of the line. I only want you to listen. Record the conversation that you hear. That way others will believe it too. I don’t want to do this, it doesn’t bring me any comfort. But it is the only way that is going to clear things up.” I am pleading with her to understand me. I don’t really want to do this to Markus, he was a great guy before all of this. I know that boy I met on the mountain would have been a great man without meeting me.
“It’s that bad.”
“I’m afraid so.” I sigh, “It’s even really hard to believe. If the goddess didn’t tell me herself then I wouldn’t believe it.”
“Can you at least tell me who you are supposed to be mated to?” I know she wants to know something, it’s hard not knowing anything. I however hate knowing and having to convince everyone else.
“Tonight. I don’t want anyone to act any differently. It will ruin the plan. I know it is a long time to be on edge, but we can’t let him know what is going on.”
“Who?”
I can’t even tell her that at this point. If I did then she would know who I am supposed to be mated to. “I can’t tell you that. You will know when you take the call tonight.”
She sighs, “I’m going to trust you. I pray to the goddess that your plan works.” I can see the desperation in her eyes. She wants her sons to be happy and that means we finish this once and for all. Though it seems that one son will never be happy.
“You and me, both. I should get back to Darius. I left before he woke up this morning. I don’t want to get him upset. I know him and he will think that I left him again. It’s going to be bad enough I’ll smell like Markus.”
She nods in understanding. “Hopefully this will all be worked out this evening.”
“I can’t wait.” I smiled back at her. I really hope that everything can be fixed like that. “One last thing. If I am put under a spell again, I want you to take me to the sacred pool in the mountain. I need to swim there to remove the spell. Goddess’ orders.”
“Well, her orders shall be followed.” She gives me a short nod.
“Thank you mom.”
I left her with my plan intact.
