CHAPTER 40

Book:FALLING FOR AN ARAB BILLIONAIIRE Published:2024-6-2

“Really now? How about I go in alone, and you sleep in another room?” I warned him to be careful with his words. “Don’t say anything offensive.”
“Kidding,” Samer said.
“I know. I’m just playing hard to get. You’re too serious,” I said.
When we entered the room, I helped him lie down and then removed his pants and shoes. He had already taken off his polo earlier. It’s a good thing Groot was buried first before the two guys started fighting. Damn Brent. Just when there’s a man ready to love me wholeheartedly, he shows up and acts like he loves me too. Ugh! Annoying!
“Where are you going?” Samer asked when I stood up after undressing him.
Of course, I covered him with a blanket since the AC was cold, and I didn’t want him to catch a cold. “Downstairs. I’ll get some ice for your bruises,” I said, and from his expression, I think he understood what I meant as he knew where Brent hit him earlier.
“Come back quickly,” Samer requested.
“Yes, Boss.” I saluted him before leaving the room, and I saw him smile.
I quickly ran to the kitchen to get some ice. When I returned upstairs, I found Samer looking like he was struggling to breathe. I frowned when I noticed his face looking distressed.
“Jamie, I think something’s wrong,” he said, trying to endure the intense pain.
“What’s wrong?” I asked him.
“I c-can’t b-breathe!” he told me.
“What? You can’t breathe? Oh no, are you dying? Sam, come on! You’re such a tease! Wait a moment, I’ll call an ambulance,” I tried to stay calm, but I was still panicking, so I asked Rhea for help.
I asked her to call an ambulance for us, and she promised to do everything she could to get the ambulance to arrive in less than ten minutes.
I don’t know if I should trust Rhea, but I have confidence in my assistant. I know she’ll do her best to fulfill my request. While waiting for help, I went to Samer and raised his head, propping him against my body.
“Baby, just endure a little longer, okay?” I said and adjusted his position so that the pillows were piled on top of each other to support him. I needed to change his clothes before the ERUF personnel arrived.
I took a t-shirt and shorts from his luggage. I didn’t have any trouble putting the t-shirt on him. The shorts were a bit challenging because I had to lift his butt, and Samer was quite well-endowed.
“Thank you,” he said, even though it was difficult for him.
I just smiled and then kissed his forehead.
“I love you,” I told him and gently caressed his chest to ease his pain. “Why did you have to do that? You were okay earlier, right? Just don’t answer me now, Sam. I love you so much,” I said.
“I love you too,” he replied.
“Shhhhh… don’t talk for now,” I said because he seemed to have a harder time whenever he spoke.
Samer smiled and just gazed at me. Maybe he realized that I’m different when it comes to love. Not like his ex, who just left him hanging. In the coming days, I’ll make sure he feels how important he is to me.
“The ambulance has arrived,” I said when I heard the sirens outside the house. “Can you still walk, or do you need a stretcher?” I just asked, but why did he frown immediately?
When we arrived at the hospital, they attended to us promptly, and when the doctor saw the bruises on Samer’s body, he immediately requested an MRI. I’m not that dumb not to know what an MRI is, but I was surprised why Samer needed to have one.
I suddenly got worried. “Doc, will he be okay?” I asked the doctor, who seemed to be around the same age as Samer, and I must say, they weren’t far apart in terms of good looks.
“Of course, Madam. I just want to make sure that no organs were damaged due to the fracture,” the doctor replied.
Madam? Why? Do I look like a wife? Yes, I’m just wearing simple clothes, but it shouldn’t be like that. But, to be fair, being called Madam by Samer sounds nice to the ears. But wait, I heard something from the doctor that I can’t just ignore.
“Fracture? Where?” I asked curiously.
“In the ribs, that’s why he’s having trouble breathing. Anyway, don’t worry. Everything will be fine,” the doctor assured me.
“What?” I couldn’t help but curse when I learned that Samer had a fractured rib because of what Brent did. Oh well! That damn guy will experience my revenge for beating him up! He’ll see how vengeful his girlfriend can be.
“Where are you?” I immediately asked Brent when he answered my call.
“I’m downtown, at Michelle’s condo. I visited Gabrielle,” Brent said.
“That’s good, at least you’re in the city. Text me the address, and I’ll come to you,” I said, trying to suppress my anger.
To be honest, I’ve wanted to hurt him since what happened to Samer. Like, what the fuck! No one has the right to harm my boyfriend, who’s even pleasing to the eye, including his Adam’s apple. He’s such an asshole!
Damn, Brent really pissed me off. Let’s assume Samer was at fault, but he should have known that Arabs are not used to fighting, yet he still went on until Samer’s ribs got fractured.
When I arrived at Regal, I was amazed by the beauty of the condo. Brent said it was downtown, but it’s next to the popular San Remo. To be fair to Michelle, she’s maintained her high maintenance lifestyle.
“I’m in the parking lot now,” I texted Brent.
“Okay, just a moment,” he replied.
While waiting for him, I called the private nurse I hired to closely monitor Samer’s condition. “How is he doing, Miss?” I asked the nurse.
“He’s still sleeping, Ma’am,” she replied.
“That’s good, but please call me immediately once he wakes up, okay? Thank you,” I said before ending the call as I saw Brent coming towards me. I was seething with anger, especially as he ran towards me. I got out of the car to meet him… with a couple of slaps! Just kidding, of course, we’re educated, so we should stay calm.
“Jamie, why did you come here? Do you miss me?” He smiled while asking.
Wow! He’s really thick-skinned!
“I just came to ask why you had to do that?” I raised my voice.
If I forgave him for cheating on me before, I won’t be able to forgive him for what he did to Samer.
“You’re angry,” the man said.
“Who wouldn’t be angry with what you did? You beat up my boyfriend!” I said, raising my voice. If I could forgive him for deceiving me before, I couldn’t forgive what he did to Samer.
“He’s your boyfriend already? What about me?” Brent retorted.
“We didn’t get back together, and you know that!” I said each word clearly for him to understand.
“I still love you, Jamie,” Brent said.
“Well, thank you! But a lot has changed, Brent. I love Samer now. Anyway, it’s not about our love triangle that I came here. I just want to let you know that if Samer has any damaged organs, I won’t be able to make you laugh or I might even have you arrested,” I said in a long speech in front of him.
“Damaged organs? Why? What does it have to do with me?” The man asked, confused.
“What does it have to do with you? You’re the only one who beat him up,” I said.
“I didn’t beat him up. We just had a fistfight because of a misunderstanding,” Brent made excuses.
“He wasn’t beaten up, but he has fractured ribs. I don’t know about you! You know that you’re more trained physically, so you should have adjusted! Look at what happened, we might end up ruined,” I warned him.
“Jamie, please,” Brent said, trying to hold my hand, but I quickly hid it behind my back.
“Maybe being on good terms isn’t right for us. Maybe being enemies suits us better. But just remember, if anything happens to my boyfriend, I’ll hold you responsible!” I warned him before turning around, but I heard him call my name, so I paused briefly in my walk.
“I don’t want you to be angry with me,” Brent said.
“I don’t want that either, considering what we’ve been through, but when it comes to Samer, that’s a different story,” I said to Brent.
“Do you love him that much?” The man asked.
“Yes. And I loved you just as much before, but you wasted it,” I said, and my last words seemed to have an impact on him.
I’m not the type to flaunt what I have, but at the moment he hurt the man who made my heart beat again, I wanted him to feel regret for wasting me before.
“I had no choice!” He reasoned out.
“Wrong. You had a choice, but who am I, right? So you left without saying anything because I didn’t matter to you!” I finally said what I’ve been wanting to tell him for a long time.
“You know that’s not true! I loved you, Jamie, and I still love you,” Brent added.
“It’s too late, I said. I have someone else I love now. Focus on your family, okay? Oh, is that Michelle?” I pointed to the woman with a child coming towards us.
Brent glanced at the woman I mentioned and furrowed his brows. “They’re leaving,” Brent said.
“And you’re not going with them?” I asked him.
“Jamie, Michelle and I are not together anymore. Whatever’s between us now is just for Gabrielle,” Brent explained.
“Where is she?” I asked him.
“What?” He replied with a question, not understanding what I said.
“Where’s your concern? That’s your business, so you should handle it. I told you earlier to start praying now! If something happens to Samer, I might kill you,” I said.
“Kill me right away? Can’t you just beat me up like I did with your lame boyfriend?” Brent asked with a grin.
“Watch your language, Brent. I didn’t like you calling him lame,” I scolded him.
I was about to add something, but Michelle and Gabrielle arrived. I smiled at the little girl, and she smiled back, but Michelle looked like a demon. She was furious and seemed like she wanted to hurt me! Well, I won’t back down if it ever happens!
“Mistresses these days are really different,” Michelle sarcastically remarked as she let her daughter into the car.
“Who’s the mistress? Me?” I laughed at Michelle’s spicy words.
“Is there anyone else?” Michelle asked with attitude.
“You and Brent are no longer together. You’ve already broken up,” I said.
“And you believed that? FYI, Jamie. Honey, why didn’t you tell him that our divorce is not yet final?” Michelle added.
When I looked at Brent, he looked away. Couldn’t look straight at me? Oh, it seems like Michelle’s words have some truth in them. But why would she lie to me?
“So, you’re not divorced yet?” I asked him.
“Not yet,” Brent answered shortly.
If I managed to control myself earlier, I couldn’t do it now. Anger suddenly burst from my chest. “You lied!” I said, and I gave him a couple of slaps as a married couple. “You lied!” I repeated my words before getting into my car and leaving Regal.
