“Your real name is Isabella Ashdown, right? How come you have a different name as a goddess of healing and hunting?” I asked after Lady Isabel was done healing my injury on my face. Smiling, I sighed in relief after seeing that I looked perfectly fine now.
I was impressed as I didn’t feel any pain anymore. So, this was the power of a deity… I already imagined meeting one of them but somehow, I was still in denial.
“Iseldis?” Lady Isabel asked to confirm her deity name and cackled. “Father explained before to me that Iseldis is my deity name and Isabella is my mundane name.” She shrugged her shoulders. “I thought that he was jesting when he told me about it. But when I grew up, I think it was starting to make sense,” she explained.
I kept nodding my head taking interest in her father and how he became associated with the Moon Goddess and had a daughter with Her.
“How did your former pack know about your healing abilities as a deity?”
I snapped back and frowned upon hearing the curious tone in Cornelius’ voice. How dare… Did he really think that this man must speak equally to the daughter of the Moon Goddess? He must have been polite!
“When I was a kid, one of my playmates injured his leg. Father said before that I must never use it. But I was a kid back then. I have my worries that my father would scold me if he knew that my playmate, who was a son of our former Alpha, had broken his leg because of me.”
She started talking about her life when she and her father were still in their former pack before they decided to escape. She had been known as the miracle kid from the Rising Dawn pack. Their former Alpha took a liking to her because of his curiosity that she would be able to heal the Alpha’s son.
“When Father couldn’t take it anymore, that was when he decided to flee from our pack. He brought me away and protected me while he sacrificed himself and had himself killed…”
I felt sorry for her when she told us that she experienced tremendous experiments that her father couldn’t endure seeing her in so much pain. I immediately glanced at Cloudy after that.
If that happened to my son, I would also feel dreadful and would do the same thing as what Isandro Ashdown did just to save his daughter. I would also flee along with my son just so I could protect him from people who would dare to hurt Rachelle and my son.
So, I truly understood his intention of wanting to be refugees and choosing to become rogues.
I glanced at Cornelius who suddenly hugged Lady Isabel as soon as her voice croaked. Sighing, I thought of this happening. I knew that there was something that I hadn’t known to all the vicinity of my kingdom that I was ruling at. I didn’t know what happened behind the closed doors for those Alphas who have or granted their own packs.
I was asking myself if I kept failing at being an Alpha King as I couldn’t watch over my subjects. As I had no idea that this was happening… How much more if I started to investigate everything? How much more information must I need to find out that cruelties were revolving inside my domain?
“I must look into this matter.” I decided to make a decision. I must not overlook this as well.
“It doesn’t matter, Your Majesty,” Lady Isabel said, shaking her head.
“Isabel.” Cornelius looked at her, concerned.
“Why?” I tilted my head, arching my eyebrow. “Don’t you want me to punish them? You are a deity and the daughter of the Moon Goddess, Lady Isabel. Of course, I am not going to take this case lightly.” I swayed a little so I could entertain my son.
She shook her head again. “There is no need, Your Majesty. I am very sure my mother already punished them for doing the inhumane things with me…” she said politely.
I was somehow rendered speechless at her words. Right… She was one of the daughters of the Moon Goddess after all. The Moon Goddess would surely punish those who hurt Her daughters.
“Hmm… But I will still investigate it. I can’t let this kind of thing run off to my kingdom.” I knelt midway and bowed before him. “I must also want to show my gratitude for healing me, Goddess Iseldis. The royal family has already known about the coming of the offsprings of the Moon Goddess,” I said politely.
I must inform Father about this news. I couldn’t wait to tell him this. This must be good news since I would be one of the daughters who appeared before me in my reign as the Alpha King of the Waevalon Kingdom.
I also couldn’t wait to tell this to my fellow royalties from different kingdoms. I was honoured!
“There is no need, Your Majesty. I am already grateful that I have come to help you. But I am hoping you will keep your promise to protect me as I am a rogue living alone here in the Meadow Forest,” she said as she helped me to stand up.
Nodding, I scrutinized her. “I know how to keep my word, Lady Isabel. If you are born here, Lady Isabel, where are your other siblings? I mean the other spirit goddesses?”
That was a plausible question to ask her. According to the prophecy, ‘daughters’, not a daughter. I wondered how many there were actually.
She smiled wryly, indicating that she has no clue about this. “I have no idea, Your Majesty. But since Father told me that I am the second eldest daughter of the Moon Goddess, it could mean that my oldest sister is already born somewhere. I am not sure where she is if you are going to ask me,” she stated. “And Father before said that my other siblings and I have different fathers so basically, we are half-sisters.”
That surprised me a little as I chuckled. “Sure that Moon Goddess likes to hang out with many men then give birth to each of her daughters.”
“Um… Moon Goddess is his fated mate, Your Majesty.” She tried to contain her laugh.
My jaw dropped. “Whoa… Really?” She nodded. “Wow… Then the other men she…” I paused.
Lady Isabel nodded. “It must be it.”
“I see…” So, those men… They were Moon Goddess’ mates. I didn’t expect that… I thought that She would only rely on one man to consummate and conceive daughters but it turned out that I was wrong. Then I remembered something. “Actually, my mother, Beatrice Capell, had interacted with the Moon Goddess before, Lady Isabel. Just like my mother, Rachelle had associated with the Moon Goddess as well. Do you have any idea what that could mean?”
Could she have any idea about my mother and the Moon Goddess’s agreement? Was their agreement involved Rachelle after all? Was she bound to protect me from any harm?
“They spoke with my mother?” She looked shocked at my words. I nodded to make her understand that I was telling the truth. “I have never met my mother. She never visited even in my dreams…” she said in a dejected tone.
I blinked. That’s weird… I thought she was one of the daughters… She could somehow communicate with the Moon Goddess. I do not understand why that is happening.
“My mother and the Moon Goddess had some sort of agreement which is connected to me and Rachelle. That is what Rachelle told me. She and I believed that we were connected from the beginning. The Moon Goddess told her that there is a reason why our wolves are special.” I started stroking my chin in curiosity thinking again about the possibility of what agreement they really have. “I wasn’t sure why…” I looked up to meet her eyes. “I’ve spoken to my father, Grand Alpha King, about this matter but it seemed like he never wanted to say anything about it. He said that time will tell when we will know the truth…”
That was kind of frustrating when Father said those words and I had to repeat them myself. It was annoying when he couldn’t tell the truth because the Moon Goddess forbade him to tell it.
I was really hoping that she could somehow bestow me some answers but I don’t think I could gather any information about her since she hadn’t communicated with her mother before.
“The late Luna Queen and the Moon Goddess have spoken with each other which leads to the connection to you and Luna Queen Rachelle…” I nodded as approval, bestowing a confirmation at her. “Why is there an involvement of the recent Luna Queen? What’s so special about…” I creased my forehead when her eyes widened. It was like she had gotten come to a realization. “Could that be…” she paused and gasped. She even covered her mouth.
I was about to ask her as to what she had realized since I wanted answers to all the questions but suddenly, Lady Isabel knelt to the ground with her eyes widening in horror.
“Isabel!” Cornelius suddenly scooped me in his arms. “What happened to you?!”
Philippians and I exchanged glances as we suddenly had no idea what happened to Lady Isabel.
Then all of a sudden, she screamed. “NO!” Her eyes widened in horror as she was breathing heavily.
“What happened?” All of us rushed beside Lady Isabel’s side. She looked horrified right now. I was suddenly frightened as to what was happening to her.
I was surprised when she suddenly grabbed my collar and pulled me against her. “Luna Queen Rachelle is in danger!”
“What?!” I parroted, and couldn’t comprehend her words for a while.
“I-I don’t know what happened but I felt like…” My eyes widened when she described that she was in someone’s mind being held hostage as there was an unfamiliar scarred man who was holding a hot iron rod in his hand.
I was totally baffled when I got to know that Lady Isabel happened to invade Rachelle’s mind. Aside from that, I already knew who Lady Isabel was talking about.
“Magnius Lothim…” I mentioned that man’s name full of abomination. I feared that something happened to my mate… “Do you know the location?”
She nodded. “I happened to know that they are in the ghost town named Traina.” My jaw dropped, I couldn’t believe that she was able to know where Rachelle was.
With that, I immediately turned at Philippians. “We must head back to the palace and have a meeting. Summon all the captains of the knights and the military officials from General to Commander,” I ordered while holding Cloudy in my arms.
“Yes, Your Majesty,” Philippians said and nodded.
“Cornelius, release the emergency distress signal. I need Rachelle’s Eagle Mist.” I glanced at Cornelius with an earnest expression.
“As you command, Your Majesty,” Cornelius said, bowing his head.
I looked at Cloudy and kissed his forehead. “We will save your Mommy, Cloudy,” I said softly. “You are the little sun of the Waevalon Kingdom that shall become the next Alpha King… Papa will be right back, alright?” I hugged him again before I turned at Lady Isabel who was being put by Cornelius in the bed. “And one more thing, Lady Isabel.”
She snapped back. “Yes?”
“Can I leave my son here under your care?”
“S-Sure, Your Majesty. It will be my honor…” She smiled as I carefully handed her my son.
“As soon as we save Rachelle and finish the war, we will come back,” I added as I gently caressed Cloudy’s head.
She bowed her head. “Yes, Your Majesty.”
Having Philippians and Cornelius by my side, I was certain that I would be able to save Rachelle now that I wouldn’t have a hard time to find her. This was good news.
Please be alright, my love… Do not fret as I shall come to save you… I promise you that.
