“What do you mean? She is?” My jaw dropped.
“I am not sure yet, love. We haven’t confronted Crown Prince Henricus about this matter.” He hugged me and kissed my forehead. “Before he will leave, I need to speak with him.”
I nodded. “Alright…”
Before we could sleep, I couldn’t help glancing at Claude who was looking at the ceiling. I could feel what he felt so I knew that he was still bothered about the daughters of the Moon Goddess. I caressed his cheek while he looked at me.
“I am alright. Worry not.”
“I can’t help it.”
Claude chuckled and pulled me into a hug. “Then let’s make love again. Shall we?” I pinched his flank, earning a groan in pain from him.
“Stupid…” I playfully rolled my eyes, earning a laugh from him.
To ease Claude’s concern, he asked Henricus about it but Henricus laughed it off. He told us that was impossible because he witnessed his mother bearing Eustacia while she was in her womb. Claude was somehow satisfied with it so I didn’t need to worry when he cleared up that everything was alright now.
For the past few months, I have become busy now that the chosen soldiers and military officials were getting ready to leave secretly by the end of the month. I also kept up with my training with Claude. He was my sparring partner as I enhanced my wolf skills and weapon skills. He even helped me with more knowledge about strategic planning and development with the help of high-ranking officials.
Each day passes by, Claude never fails to show his affection to me. He always cherished and hugged me whenever he had time.
He thought that I didn’t notice his actions. My wolf and I knew better than Claude was starting to get worried and missed us. His actions made me think that he didn’t want me to let go and lead the war.
I assured him that everything would be fine so when I had the time to ponder, I always went to his study room to bombard him. He loved it when I was staying there. Sometimes, when he wasn’t doing anything and I was there, we would make love there even though we were aware that palace guards were guarding the door of his study room.
Claude and I would laugh it off and didn’t mind what they were thinking because it was pretty normal for the Alpha King and Luna Queen to make love. There were times that Claude wanted us to make love in other places which I just came along with him.
On my day off, I went to the royal kitchen disguising myself in another uniform. They didn’t notice me as I made Claude worry to look for me. I even hid my scent so he couldn’t find me. The whole palace was panicking right now since Claude couldn’t find me when he checked me to my chamber and my study room.
Only the royal head chef knew that I was there to ask for his help. I wanted to prepare a meal for Claude.
It was a good thing that he cooperated with me.
I was giggling when I finished it. “Do you think Claude will like it?” I asked, lowering my tone even though the helpers weren’t here yet.
Royal Chef Harold chuckled and bowed his head. “Yes, Your Majesty. I am very sure that His Majesty will like it. You pour your heart into your cooking so he would love it when he tastes it.” He winked.
I giggled. Then I used my sensitive ears to hear the running footsteps of the palace guards around the palace. I even heard Claude bombarding them to look for me.
“His Majesty, Alpha King Claudian must have been so worried,” Harold said as he prepared the food on the tray.
I grinned sheepishly as I shrugged. “Let him.” I turned to him when I helped him out before I prepared myself. “Tell them that you are bringing that to the veranda, alright? I will make Claude chase him so he wouldn’t know I have a surprise for him.”
Harold nodded. “Yes, Your Majesty. As you command.” He smiled.
I opened the door of the royal kitchen and saw Philippians and Silver. They had a worried expression when they saw me in the kitchen.
Oops. Looks like I was caught by them…
“We must tell-”
“No,” I butt in and squinted my eyes at Silver. “I have a surprise for your Alpha King so do not ruin it,” I commanded. “Do not even dare to mind link him, Philippians.” I shot him a glare when I knew his plan. I immediately approached him and quickly unsheathed his sword from his scabbard.
“Y-Your Majesty, I didn’t…” he said and gulped as soon as he saw me pointing the blade of the sword to his neck.
Every weapon of the soldiers and knights was coated with wolfsbane. It was a fatal kill for a werewolf to be hit straight to the heart or any internal organs. Wolfsbane was poisonous for werewolves.
This plant had been used for weapons as well as soon as we managed to adapt to our surroundings. Our great ancestors were the first ones to discover how to use the wolfsbane to weaponize.
There was an advantage and disadvantage to doing this. Some were taking this as an advantage to kill their fellow werewolf just for fun. Like the person I knew… Magnius Lothim, the ruler of the rogues.
“Are you sure?” I squinted my eyes at him and drew closer the tip of the blade to his neck. One more move and I would be able to pierce his skin if he said that he mind linked Claude.
Philippians nodded. Silver butt in. “Y-Your Majesty, please calm down. We didn’t mind link His Majesty for assurance.”
“Her Majesty, Luna Queen Rachelle has a snack surprise for His Majesty, Alpha King Claudian.” It was Harold who just spoke and pointed a knife at Silver. “Her Majesty went to me to ask for my help so I suggest you help our Luna Queen so our Alpha King wouldn’t find her. Help me to set this up on the veranda.”
I smirked and agreed with Harold. “Yes, he’s right.”
Philippians nodded. “We didn’t mind link him.”
“We are willing to cooperate,” Silver stated, gulping.
I stared at them one more time to see if they were bluffing or not. But when I saw the sincerity in them, I lowered the sword and bestowed Harold a signal to lower his knife. I returned the sword to the Philippians. Then I clasped my hands in happiness.
“While Jack is scouting Claude, I need you all to do what Harold said. I have to go now and find Claude.” I waved my hand at them. “He must have announced a search party already. See you all!” I said, smiling.
I sprinted away to the hallway and mind-linked Jack to ask where Claude was. He told me that he was at the training ground and dispatched five teams to look around the palace. My wolf and I giggled because we were having fun to make Claude nervous again.
I did this from time to time so I wouldn’t be surprised that he would find me so easily. But I made sure this time that he couldn’t find me easily. I just needed to outsmart that man.
When I arrived there, I saw him alone on the training ground. I giggled quietly seeing him from the balcony. The ground even became distorted. He must have stomped his foot so hard it created a crater. I grinned more when I looked at the bracelet I was wearing that had an incantation to hide my scent.
I even asked Priest Irus to bless and enchant the piece of jewelry I had to hide my scent because I need to run some short errands which he granted it when he knew that the main purpose for it was the Luna Queen has a surprise for the Alpha King of the Waevalon Kingdom.
I looked up at the sky. Luna Queen, huh… Until now, I still couldn’t believe that I, Rachelle Simon, became the Luna Queen of the Waevalon Kingdom. The people’s concerns weigh on my shoulders.
I wasn’t even born having noble blood nor royal blood so it was new to me to have the second to the highest royal title, Luna Queen, the Luna of all the Lunas and the mother of the people here in the Waevalon Kingdom.
I was thinking if I would be able to be the Luna Queen everyone expected. I was having second thoughts if I deserve to be Claude’s mate… if I was really fated to be with him. Would I be able to fulfill being the General, the Luna Queen, the wife, the mate, and the mother of our future pups at the same time?
I looked at Claude who stomped his foot, creating a deep crater to the ground. I softened my expression seeing his distressed attitude towards him. I even heard him in my hand trying to communicate with me through a mind link but I ignored him.
I smiled and decided that I must do my best to do those duties as long as I have Claude with me.
Giggling softly, I jumped from the balcony and landed in all fours in my wolf form. The ground shook which made Claude look on my way.
“Rachelle!” His eyes were already teary-eyed and I saw relief in his expression.
‘I have heard that you have missed me?’ I asked through the mind link. I even poked him with my snout which he shot at me with a glare.
“Where have you been?! Do you know how worried I was?!” He couldn’t help raising his voice.
I huffed and chuckled mentally seeing how distressed he was. I came near to him and snuggled my nose near his chest, poking it. Claude looked straight to my blue eyes before his expression softened and buried his face in my fur.
Smiling, I stepped back to see his face. Then I gasped when I saw him crying. He looked away from me and turned his back on me. Worried, I transformed back to my human form and approached Claude.
“Claude…” I checked his face which let me see his vulnerable side seeing how worried he was he ended up crying. “Oh, love… I have a reason why I did that…” I pulled down his head to hug him.
Claude hugged my waist and buried his face to the crook of my neck. “You made me worried, love… Don’t hide like that…” Claude sighed and sniffed. “What is so important that you need to hide like that, Rachelle? Do you have any idea how worried I was that I thought you ran away? I really thought I had done something wrong…” He stepped back and cupped my face. “Did I fail to be your mate and husband to you? Tell me… Do you want me to step down as the Alpha King and live a simple life with me? I will do it… Just tell me what I did wrong-”
I shut him up by kissing him fully on his lips. I needed to calm Claude down because he had been so anxious about me leaving the palace by the end of the month. So I understand if my mate was acting like this.
To assure and calm him down, this is the resort I thought about and approved by Claude. He loved to be kissed by me so who am I not to give my man the thing he wants, right?
I pulled away when I felt him calming down. “Have you calmed down now, Your Majesty?” I asked softly to test the waters.
Claude nodded and smiled. “Yes…” With that, he pulled me into a hug. “I was so worried I might die… My wolf and I love you so much so please don’t do this again.”
My eyes widened at his words. Did I hear him right? Did he say that?
Claude loves me? And so is his wolf?
