It was Saturday morning, the sun shun brighter than before, smiling at Rose’s face as usual as she rolled on her bed, struggling to open her eyes because of the reflection of light reflecting on her face.
She finally opened her eyes but her view wasn’t clear yet. It was as if there was a statue standing and looking at her sleeping face. She blinked and rubbed her eyes to balance her view as kept looking at the image to know whose image it was.
“She is still sleeping when it’s already 11:00am.”
Thar statement struck her mind, she immediately stood up and sat on her bed but feeling a little dizzy as she held her head with her left hand, trying to regain herself.
“Where are you rushing to? You want to injure yourself?.” The image asked.
She looked up at the image and this time, her view was very clear and she was sure and convinced that it was Mr. Evidence who had stood there like a statue and watched her sleep.
“Get up and go and take your shower.” He instructed.
She stood up walking towards the bathroom with so many questions written all over herbface as she decided to walk back to Mr. Evidence with a worried look.
“Mr. Evidence, where did you go yesterday? When i came out from the bathroom, i couldn’t see any trace of you. Even the house helpers weren’t able to tell me where you were. I got scared, I was so scared because you weren’t picking or returning the calls not until I met Mr. David, who told me that you Will be back by today.” She was so damn worried that it was obvious on her face.
“Heh! You met with David? Where? Tell me the truth, are you admiring him?”
“Noooo, I only went downstairs to search for you when I saw him coming back from wherever went… so, I decided to ask him if he had seen you. I didn’t admire him, not at all. Trust me, I didn’t.”
“Good girl, now, go and bathe and meet me here so we can go and have breakfast but promise me you won’t admire any man. Promise?”
Rose was confused, she could remember that she was just his caregiver and nothing more than that.
‘I shouldn’t admire any man?”l’
She asked herself inwardly. She wanted to ask him why but she preferred not to, to avoid problems.
“Where were you?” She asked again and refused to go into the bathroom.
“I won’t bathe if you don’t tell me.”
“That is what I want. Don’t bath so that I will bathe you.” He smirked.
“Huh?” Rose quickly left her standing position and ran inside the bathroom. She didn’t want him to start being naughty so early, she just needed to avoid him.
Mr Evidence, seeing that she had ran into the bathroom to bath, he walked towards the fancy mirror that was hung on the wall and began to look at his soon dying body. He remembered what the doctor had said and it shattered him. He remembered how Rose would feel when he was gone as it broke his emotions. He remembered his wealth and the kind of life he had lived and realized that everything was vanity upon vanity. He couldn’t believe that after 1 week, he would be gone forever. He won’t see his Rose again.
Now that all these things were happening, now that he couldn’t deny the fact that he was loving Rose, now that he finally found his happiness, the devil decided to make life miserable for him. He had just one week to live but still hasn’t confessed his love to her. There was no time! No damn time! He was still single, had no wife and children and death decided to knock on his door. He was emotionally down and wished that the death had come earlier, at least it would have come before he met Rose.
Few minutes later, it seemed like Rose was already done bathing, the sound of an opening door diverted his attention as his gaze on his image directed to where the sound was coming from. He looked at the bathroom door as he saw Rose coming out from the bathroom with a white towel wrapped around her body and when she noticed Mr. Evidence’s gaze at her, she stood at a spot and smiled at him while Mr. Evidence also stood there as many thoughts ran through his mind but of course he didn’t make it obvious because he had actually returned a smile back to her.
“We are going out now.” He said.
“Now? Why now? Where are we going?”
“Somewhere. Since we couldn’t go out yesterday, we would go out now. But i need a favour from you. I will pay you 10 million for you to be my wife just for one week.”
“Rose blinked.”
‘He will pay me to be his wife? It’s not as if he feels something for me. Mtchew.”
“I can’t accept that offer. I don’t want to be a contracted wife.” She said.
“Ok, what do you want, i will give you, but just accept my offer. Say any amount you want.”
“I don’t want any money, I will accept your offer but don’t pay me, I don’t want the money but on one condition…”
Mr. Evidence concentrated on her and was eager to know what the condition would be.
“Before leaving this house, you will always tell me your whereabouts. Agreed?”
“Is that all?” He was surprised, he thought he would hear her say something so difficult for him to do but nothing like that happened.
“Tell me, is that all?”
“Yes.”
Mr. Evidence was so excited that he had to walk closer to Rose and gave her a sincere hug. Rose got curious and surprised why he was so happy over what he shouldn’t be happy about. She never stopped wondering.
“You can dress now, i will go to my room to dress as well.” He said and Rose nodded.
