At Mr Deon’s Residence.
Mr. Deon and his 5 gang were all seated at master Don’s office as if it was theirs. Deon was seated on Mr. Don’s customized seat with his legs placed across each other on the table while his partners in crime were seated at the empty seat inside the office, making some plan. Whenever they come together this way, it’s either they are ganging up against someone, or they are planning their evil deeds on how to claim Don’s properties.
Furthermore, they never knew they were plotting their downfall. They thought that the Clara they knew 3 years ago was still the same Clara they were hoping to see.
“Where is Shane and Grimes ?” Deon asked Derek.
“I don’t know, boss.”
“But I saw you leaving with them.” Said one of the men.
“Me? Later, I changed my mind and I didn’t go with them anymore.” Derek replied.
“I believe they will be back soon. Have you spoken to the lawyer? Deon asked confidently.”
“The lawyer would come soon. I have taken care of that.” Replied one of his men.
“As for Evidence, I haven’t forgotten about him yet. He thinks he is wise, he thinks he can humiliate me and then stay happy. That stupid Don is out of the way now. No one would protect him against my wrath. Oh! That bastard humiliated me!”
“Boss, please don’t be sad. It’s a good thing that we took your boss out of the way and…”
“Don’t call that lifeless body my boss. He rebuked and nodded. I haven’t seen Mara at home for the past 24 hours. Great job!”
“I haven’t seen Mara since yesterday night.” Said Deon.
“Boss, we have nothing to do with that. You had instructed us to carry out that operation one week after Clara’s arrival. Clara isn’t back yet. Mara’s disappearance has nothing to do with us, Boss.
“You guys have nothing to do with her absence? Where could she be then? This is unlike her. She hardly…”
An incoming call interrupted.
On the phone…
“Hello sir, I can’t find his body.”
“What do you mean by that? What do you mean by you can’t find his body? I left him in your care so what are you saying?”
“Sir please believe me. I never removed my sight from the mortuary. I’m just confused how he left without my notice.”
“What do you mean by how he left? So a dead person now walks huh?”
“No sir, that is not what I meant.”
“When did this happen?”
“24 hours ago sir.”
“24 what? And you didn’t say it to me all these while. What have you done?” He spoke very angry. If only that man on the other end of the call was right in front of him, a hot blow would have landed on his face.
“I’m very sorry. I wanted to be sure and that is why I waited for 24 hours before contacting you.”
“You wanted to be sure? You wanted to be sure because you are now an inspector investigating on a missing person?”
“…”
The nervous man couldn’t speak.
The mortuary attendance was so nervous. He knew who and what Deon was and his capabilities. He knew that his life was now at stake, he knew if Master Don’s lifeless body wasn’t found, Deon would make him pay for his mistake with his life. Now that he had gotten into Deon’s pit of hell, what else would he do?
After the quiet atmosphere lasted for some minutes, Deon finally spoke.
“I will be there. Give me some time.”
The call ended.
“We are heading to the mortuary now.”
He said as they all prepared to leave but another incoming call interrupted their movement.
On the phone…
“Boss, we just confirmed Mara dead. It is just confusing.”
“Huh? I don’t understand.”
“I don’t understand, boss. We left our car to go get some food to eat, only for us to come back to the car and see her lifeless body. It looked like someone poured acid on her face.”
“How sure are you that she is the one?”
“Boss, her belongings are here including her phone. She is still wearing the clothes she wore before she left home. It’s obvious she is the one.”
“Where are you guys?”
He replied and Deon instructed them on what to do as he ended the call.
“I see everything I have ever worked for crumble. Who is going to sign the land document now that she is gone?”
He walked to and fro frustrated, not knowing what to do.
“I have put up with enough.” Deon said hopelessly, fumbling with his tie while three of his men sat on the bench in front of him.
“Forgive us for not being able to help at this point. However you need our help, we are here boss. Worrying yourself isn’t important. We should find a way to fix this.”
Deon snorted, “Trivialities?!” He slammed his fist into the table and he swallowed painfully as he said, “Mara died! She is the only person that can help sign that document! Clara will be hard to handle. Everything is just frustrating!” He slammed his both hands on the table as he painfully swallowed again.
“Boss please it’s not over yet.” One of his men consoled him.
“Not over? What is left? Nothing! Everything I worked so hard for is being destroyed.”
“I’m sure Evidence did this!” Derek replied. Derek had always hated Deon. In fact, he would do everything possible to bring Deon down. The Reason was still unknown.
“You don’t have to worry about it too much, boss. We shall make arrangements to track him for this.” Derek seriously said.
Deon looked at him and said, “I’ll make the arrangements personally.”
Derek bowed his head, “You don’t have to, Boss…”
“Evidence will pay for what he has done.” Deon said, “I’ll make sure of it! He has hurt me badly. I know he did this! I know no one else would! I will make him pay for this!”
They all left.
