“Why are you laughing?’
“I’m not laughing, I’m stretching.” He rolled his eyes and softly chuckled.
“Seriously,” I said.
He finally surrendered. “Okay, you just look so hilarious, your face is funny,’ he giggled. “Come on, no playing, get up now.” He dragged my hand and pulled me up from the bed. “You are such a lightweight.”
Well, I haven’t eaten properly for days.
I stood still, after getting my balance and pulled my hand away from him. “I don’t want your mate to see me with you and start getting suspicious,” I grumbled.
“You are my best friend, she knows that.”
“But, she doesn’t like me, she looks at me as if every minute now, I’m going to snatch you away from her, she doesn’t see me as your best friend.”
He laughed. “You understand how wolves are, they love to protect their property and their territory, she’s nice.”
“That doesn’t mean, you will attack anyone that comes across it, the person might just have good intentions,” I added.
“Well, not everyone thinks like you do, Oceana, unless you prove it to them.” He said and pointed to the door. “Follow me, let’s work through the garden and discuss specific stuff.”
Adolph was more than six feet tall, dark purple eyes, pointed nose, clenched jaw, a handsome man who everyone adored, he was quite muscular, toned muscles, tattoos at his back, and a very white skin and pale pink lips.
When he turned twenty, he came across his mate and bonded with her.
We haven’t gotten the chance to see each other as we normally do, since he mated with her.
His mate is an attractive lady with almond silhouette eyes, everyone loves her.
She’s super kind but she has this tendency to be extremely jealous when anyone, especially a female comes close to her mate. I sometimes wonder what she thinks in that head of hers.
I sighed and followed him through the hallway, passing the maids then stopped midway.
Adolph must have noticed I wasn’t following next to him and swiveled to me. “What is it?’
I know I shouldn’t be asking or saying this but I’m super curious about what he thinks of them.
“If…if you find out, I mean hypothetically.” I shut my eyes and opened them and gaze at his dark purple eyes. “Your sister…I mean if you find out your sister is your mate, what are you going to do, Adolph.”
“You mean, my sister. The biological one.” Adolph has a pretty younger sister, who loves to brag about her clan, and she’s pretty strong too. Well, we don’t usually get along, because she is always trying to compete with me in everything I do to show how good she is and Adolph being who he is, loves to call some people his siblings because of how friendly they are.
“Yes,’ I nodded.
He thought for a moment and said. “It’s kind of complicated because it’s a taboo and it’s been banned for a thousand years and burnt out of history. If such a thing still exists, one of them has to die.” He revealed.
My eyes lit up in shock.
“Yes, Oceana,’ he looked away from me and repeated the same words. “One of them will have to die or else they will both die.”
“Why? They were ordained by the moon goddess, why should they die.” I quickly reacted.
“I don’t know, more stories about them were sold out a thousand years ago, I don’t know much but if we are caught reading such books or acting on it, they will have our heads. The realms are not going to take it likely.”
“Those…those people, were they ever together till the end.”
“That, I don’t know Oceana, I still need to go through some books, I don’t know if that is right,’ he sighed. “By the way, why are you talking about this?’
I shook my head. “It’s nothing, I just heard some rumors.” Acting like it was nothing to talk about.
“Well, that kind of mate is forbidden.” he finally spoke.
“Huh.” I sighed. I know so little about them, yet, I’m scared.
Terrified, I’d never in my life dream of such a thing happening, our home has always been a peaceful one but what was going on?
Why can’t I have what I want? Why is Gérard my mate of all people?
I feel so devastated and downcast, why is this so difficult?
I ran away from Adolph and went as fast as possible to the wolf’s hall, that’s exactly where Gérard will be.
Well, I was right.
I opened the hall and saw Gérard standing in front of my father’s iron throne with both hands in his pocket.
He turned to me.
“I heard you are getting married.” I spoke.
“Did I not tell you, my love?” He smiled, and my heart melted when he said those words. I ran to him and gave him a big hug. “Please, don’t do this, Gérard, I beg of you.”
He softly asked. “What is it, Oceana?”
“Please don’t drift apart from me, I don’t know what I will do.’
“I wouldn’t,’ he whispered.
At least, that’s what I imagined in my head, he was there in my imagination, not on my father’s throne, but in my head.
I burst out crying, I am so miserable, aren’t I?
He wasn’t here after all and I’ve not seen him since we had conversed, did he go back to England?
The next couple of days, I tried my best to keep my cool in front of everyone, walking along the path to the garden and I still haven’t heard a word about Gerard, no one knows where he went to.
“Hi,’ I saw a young lady cheerfully waving at me.
“Hi,” I replied casually with a frown wondering who she was.
She seems like a newbie around here because you don’t just approach any Alpha and say “Hi” to them if you don’t know their rank in the clan and they love being addressed by their names with respect.
“You must be the famous Alpha Oceana, I’ve been hearing about. My gosh, I am your biggest fan,’ she squeaked with excitement.
“Yeah, right. Who are you?’ I was confused.

“My name is Emily, Gérard’s bride-to-be and you must be his younger sister.”
I furrowed my brows and cleared my throat to show how cool I was.
Wait a second.
Gerard’s fiancee. No way, she was the one.
“Is that a problem?’
“No, it isn’t,’ she smiled. “I have always wanted to see you but your brothers said you were unavailable, extremely busy. I’m glad I came across you, I admire a wolf like you, you are my role model.”
She attempted to touch me, I immediately took a step back, covering my nose in anger.
