Judith swallowed hard, her palms became sweaty as it dawned on her what just happened. She didn’t mean to reveal that, she was so angry, her tongue had slipped.
And now, she had to toughen up and take Morris’s anger in its full force. She relaxed her body slowly, calming herself. No matter what Morris said, it wouldn’t change anything.
Her initial plan five years ago was to kill George and end him completely. Seeing him walk over to the podium to officially sign the ‘new CEO’ documents made her fume in rage, her chest tightening from jealousy….
And not just that, but seeing the blissful smile on Patricia’s face when he was announced as the new CEO of Imperial Hub Limited, hearing the crowd of investors and business associates applaud and congratulate him filled her with rage.
After everything she had ‘waited’ for, after coming this far, all she had was a ‘mistress’ tag to her name, daily receiving scorn and malicious comments from other elite women in the company. She was never up to their ‘standard’ no matter how much she had tried back then.
She couldn’t sleep for days, trying to come up with a way she could ‘destroy’ George Scott and wipe off that smile on Patricia’s face! Ugh! She hated that woman so much. What right did she have to get everything she desired! Patricia had everything Judith wanted and the only way to bring Patricia to her knees was to harm the most precious thing to her…
Her son!
She had been so angry and bitter when she got to know that he survived the car fire accident. She wanted him dead by all means. Her son, James would be better as the CEO and she would be a better fit as the chairwoman of this company. She didn’t regret her actions one bit! If he had died just as she planned, they wouldn’t be facing all these new problems they had now. If he had died, a huge part of their plan would have been sorted out.
“Answer me!” Morris yelled at her, his mouth wide ajar in disbelief “Tell me, are you the one who was behind his accident five years ago?”
“And if I am, what will you do about that?” Judith asked, defending her actions.
Morris stood still, staring at her in shock. He couldn’t believe it.
“Yes, I did it! I am the one behind it. What do you want to do about that?” Judith replied, glaring at him.
“How could you do such a thing, Judith?!” Morris whispered, trying hard to keep his voice down. “How could you? You almost killed him!”
“That was my plan all along! I am still angry that he survived it!”
“Judith!!” Morris yelled at her angrily, losing his patience. “Do you know the gravity of this? Back then, I always suspected that there was something fishy about his accident but I couldn’t figure it out. Who would have thought it was you all along?!”
Judith moved closer to him, her eyes filled with no remorse but anger “What were you expecting me to do back then? You kept on delaying everything we had planned! To think that I had to sit down there and watch another person take my son’s place as the CEO of this company. You made a promise to me and you failed! Were you expecting me to sit back and do nothing?”
“I told you to stay away and trust me! I told you that I would figure it out, that he wouldn’t stay in that position for a long time. You didn’t have to do that to him!”
“I don’t regret it! No, I don’t regret it, Morris. You said you would find a way to send Patricia and her son away peacefully. Did that really make sense to you? There was no way, absolutely no way Patricia would divorce and leave willingly without fighting back! I was already growing impatient and I had to take things into my own hands. Killing George was the only way to bring Patricia to her knees!”
“Do you know how serious this is? Imagine if Patricia or George finds out about this? Are you ready to spend your remaining life in prison? If Patricia finds out, she will destroy you. You know that!” Morris retorted back angrily. Did this woman lack common sense?!
Judith paused and looked away “They will never find out! I have been here with you for years and you never suspected me in any way, until I mistakenly revealed my actions just now. Patricia will never find out!”
Morris shook his head and sighed “I can’t believe this! Were you so desperate to take Patricia’s place? What were you thinking?”
Judith glared at him “Do you know how tiring it has been living here and having different people make fun of me? Why must she have all the good things of life all for herself while I have to fight for survival every single day?! I hate her so much and I wish George had died in that accident!”
“In the end, it’s like my effort was in vain. He is still the CEO of this company and Patricia is still the chairwoman while I am still here, waiting for your ‘stupid’ promise that you’ve been taking forever to fulfill! It is all your fault!
“Does James know what you did? If he gets to know that you almost killed his stepbrother so that he could take his place, what do you think he is going to do?”
“That’s not important. He will never find out! And even if he does, I will handle him in my own way!”
“I see…” Morris answered. He needed a long nap, the ‘discoveries’ today had taken the strength out of him.
“If George had died, all these problems we are facing now wouldn’t be present. He wouldn’t be alive to marry Rachel and that means the detective would never show up. There would be ‘no George’ to reinvestigate the case too. We would be at peace! Also, there’s a high chance that Patricia would have left because she wouldn’t be able to live here without her son. My plan was actually a good one at the end of the day”
Morris remained silent, thinking deeply about what to do next. Turning over to Judith, he whispered “Make sure that nobody hears about this! It must never slip out of your mouth in any way. If that ever happens, it will be the end of us!”
“Of course, I know that. Don’t worry, from today, this secret stays with me”
