Morris Scott paced around for a moment, still unable to relax. His heart was beating so fast he was sure anyone beside could hear it. If his guess was right and the detective, Sophia, was the hacker from ‘outside’ this villa, didn’t that also mean that George was the one from ‘inside’?
Morris shook his head and sighed, could it be Rachel? Does it mean that George didn’t pay attention to the warning he gave? Would he really choose to destroy his own father over the father of his wife?
It wasn’t even a ‘real’ marriage, he was going to find a way to dissolve their union immediately the one year is over. But before then, he had to find a way to call George and Rachel to order…
Surely, they probably had the evidence by now. He wondered what they would do with the ‘truth’ they had discovered.
Morris glanced up at the sound of the door opening and caught sight of Judith as she walked over to where he stood.
“You look like you’re about to be thrown inside a sea of whales” Judith muttered as she moved closer to put a tray on the table. “I brought your favorite pineapple drink.”
Morris sighed. He was sure he would not be able to sleep well enough until he had ‘cleaned’ things up
“Is something wrong?”
“You won’t believe what I just discovered” Morris answered her, glancing at the jug of pineapple juice behind him, not having any appetite for it at the moment.
“You seem very down, it must be something serious. What is it?”
“Concerning the discussion we had about the encrypted file, I got to know that-”
“Oh no! Don’t tell me that….” Judith gasped, already knowing how this was going to end.
“Yes! Someone already hacked into the database and downloaded the file”
“Oh my goodness!” Judith placed her hand over her mouth in disbelief.
“No, that’s not correct. Not someone but two people! Two people have gotten access to the file”
“WHAT??!” Judith yelled, her heart racing. This wasn’t good news at all, the weight of that evidence could destroy everything they had planned, everything they had worked for.
“Who are they? Do you know the people behind this?” Judith demanded, breathing harshly. “Do you know the gravity of this discovery? We need to clean things up quickly and protect ourselves first!”
“I am not exactly sure, though Raymond stated that they were able to trace the hackers. According to them, one of the signals came outside this villa and the other came from inside here.”
“No way! Outside here?” Judith paused and then glanced at Morris “Is it that detective? It has to be her!”
“My mind went to her, though I am not really sure. I don’t have any proof or way to know so I to-”
“Find a proof Morris!!” Judith yelled, her eyes glazing with fear “Find something! We always have to be three steps ahead or else, we will both crumble!”
Morris sighed. Thinking about this whole thing was stressing him out.
“You can’t allow all that we have worked for all these years to be in vain. If we get thrown in prison, then what would be the point of getting rid of Arthur Reeves years ago? What would be the point of getting this company from Patricia by pretending to love her? And every other thing you have done, what would it be for?!”
“I know. I have sent Raymond on a new mission, I believe I will know what to do from there” Morris responded
“What did you tell him to do?”
“I want to kidnap that detective, Sophia or whatever and bring her to me…”
“Whoa! Didn’t expect that but it’s a good plan. What do you plan to do from there?”
Morris folded his arms across his chest and tilted his head, thinking “I don’t have any plan to harm her but that’s only if she cooperates with me. All I want is for her to confirm that she got access to that file and wipe out any evidence she has. A lot of detectives are underpaid, I’ll offer her a mouthwatering amount for her cooperation”
“And if she refuses to cooperate with you?” Judith asked
“Then there’s only one thing left to do. She has to be killed, I will not stand by and watch a random person or anybody at all frustrate my plan!”
Judith paced around where Morris stood as she talked “This is all because of that stupid Raymond, what was he thinking by not getting rid of the file back then? Now there are more problems popping up here and there, just because of his silly mistake. This is so irritating!”
“I know. He knows I am very displeased with him, I want to believe that he would do a better job from now on”
“Thinking about it now…. you see, I told you back then. That there was something fishy about the way Rachel agreed to George’s proposal instantly. I knew this was her plan all along. She really thinks she can do this and get away with it? Such an Ignorant fool!”
“Now I see what you’ve been saying all along. Ever since she came here, so many things have been going wrong. I’ve never been this stressed in a long time!! She irritates me badly”
“Wait a minute.” Judith halted her steps and circled around to look at Morris “If your guess is right and Sophia really has the evidence, doesn’t that mean Rachel also knows the truth?”
Morris glanced at her sharply “I don’t think so. She hasn’t been acting strangely in any way, it’s possible that the detective hasn’t revealed it to her yet. That’s why we need to act quickly!”
“What if she is just pretending not to know?”
“Hmm…that would really be a problem because she could bite back at us at any moment. And to make things worse, George is probably on her side, he is another problem we have to handle”
Judith squeezed her face in disgust “George! That ingrate. Doesn’t he know that family comes first? He is supposed to pick his father’s side no matter what!!”
“Don’t worry about it. It is that woman with him that has brainwashed him and turned him against his own family. I will handle him by myself after I am done with the detective. Her case is more important right now”
“All this unnecessary stress for nothing…” Judith muttered angrily “… if I had known, I would have gotten rid of him properly!”
“Would?” Morris blinked twice as he felt his brain go blank at that moment. “Would have?” He asked again
The library became so quiet for a minute and instantly Morris spun around and stared at Judith in disbelief…
“Don’t tell me…” He whispered, his voice shaking from shock of what he just discovered
“…. No, Judith, don’t tell me you were the one behind his car accident.”
