CHAPTER 18

Damian had come out earlier but Ella’s cheek was still red with embarrassment. She was ashamed of what the man had done. She didn’t expect that Damian would play dirty just to discourage her. Next time the man does what he did before, he will not back down from Damian McBride. Maybe he thought he didn’t have the ability to hit it?
Ella smiled because she was really determined. She would have him by hook or by crook. Physically, she knew the man was attracted to her and that’s where she started. Sooner or later, he would fall for her!
She climbed into the tub and switched to the shower. Next time he would just soak in the tub because he had to hurry to catch up with Damian. It’s lunch time and he wants to eat with her. When he arrived at the dining area, he saw the cousin talking happily and when he looked at Damian’s face, he seemed to just ignore the man who had performed a miracle in his room earlier.
“Good morning boys,” he greeted the two men but he wondered why Sofia wasn’t there. “Damian, did you see Sofia?” He asked the man because James did not know his friend.
“Look in the guest room because I haven’t noticed her since this morning,” Damian replied.
Ella stood up again to go to Sofia but James stopped her. “I’ll just wait,” she said to the man because she was worried that Sofia might have been hungry earlier but she was just embarrassed to come out because of Damian. What kind of friend was he and did he forget that Sofia was at home?
“She’s gone,” James said.
His forehead furrowed as he received no message from Sofia letting her leave. “Did he say goodbye to you?” She asked Damian’s cousin.
“Yup,” James lied, but he also couldn’t tell the two what his relationship with Sofia was.
Ella calmed down and smiled at James. It rarely visited them but they used to get along very well. James has a very good sense of humor, unlike Damian who is very serious. “It’s good then,” he told James.
“Is there no more hangover?” James joked.
“I’m pretty okay, especially now that I’ve seen your handsome face again.” She said and approached the man to kiss him on the cheek. He noticed Damian’s stiffness in the other chair but he just dined it. He sat down next to James and happily chatted with him while waiting for their food.
James wondered at his cousin Damian. He was sure that Ella liked it so that’s how he could react to the girl’s actions. He told her his observation but Damian just laughed at him. And Ella? He felt sorry for the woman. She’s too young to fall for someone like Damian.
“The strength of you really hit Damian,” James said when he and Ella were alone. After lunch, Damian chose to ignore the woman and left.
“Is it obvious? But he doesn’t like me. I don’t know what to do anymore. Day after day, he stays away from me even more as if I have a contagious disease.” Ella was really upset about Damian. No effect of her making the man cute. It seemed like she was just wasting money for new clothes.
“Hmmm, just give it some time. I know Damian, he doesn’t shoot innocent people like you.” They’re just like her cousin when it comes to women, they don’t hit on the innocent because that’s usually the kind of woman to demand marriage. “Don’t you have any plans to set aside a residence?” James asked Ella again.
“Did Damian tell you to kick me out?” was he shocked at what James asked him? Damian hasn’t talked to him for a few days and he doesn’t know if he’s avoiding her or he’s just really busy. I hope he doesn’t send James to them even though he doesn’t have time for a visiting cousin.
“No, not that. I just thought that if you don’t take Damian under one roof anymore, then maybe he’ll realize he can’t afford to lose you.” In James’s mind, that was the best thing to do.
“Hmm, I’ll consider your suggestion. You know, absence makes the heart grow fonder.” James’s suggestion that he separate first gave him courage. Hopefully, the move will bear fruit, otherwise, he is sure to break his heart.
“Good. By the way, aren’t you tired of the foods here with you?” he changes the subject.
“Really? I’m fed up,” Ella replied.
“In that case, let’s go out for dinner later. Have you been to The Peacock Garden?” James inquired.
“Yes, Damian once took me there for dinner too and I love their food.” He replied.
“Okay, so, see you later.” James says goodbye to Ella because he still has something important to do with Sofia.
“Okay, see you later.” She followed the man’s gaze away and sighed again. While he was alone, what James had asked earlier came back to him if he had any intention of separating? It’s just that, if he did that, Damian might be even more angry with Monique.
She looked for Damian and she caught up with the man on the veranda and was smoking. “I thought you quit smoking,” he said as he approached the man.
“Just one. Where’s James? Why did you leave him? Are you two done flirting?” Damian’s questions followed.
“Flirting? And when did I flirt with your cousin?” She doesn’t remember dealing with James.
“Earlier,” Damian said.
Ella sighed in frustration. “That’s not true. Anyway, I just want to tell you that I’ll be out later for dinner.”
“With whom?” Damian asked.
“With your cousin, James.” Ella replied.
“I can’t,” Damian snapped at the woman’s plan to date her cousin because she knew Damian and wouldn’t miss the likes of Ella.
“I just told you, but I didn’t ask permission. Okay?” Ella said before she left Damian.
