“Why haven’t you slept yet?” Rachel was surprised when she and Brett entered that Francis and Carter were in the living room.
“Because Tito Francis said, you have good news for me.” Carter replied.
“Good news?” Rachel looked badly at Francis. Does it really need to wake up her child?
“Tell me about it, Mom.” Said Carter.
“But it’s already late, you should go back to sleep. It’s tomorrow, okay?” He tried to convince Carter to just let the good news out if anything ’cause the truth was he had no idea what the boy was saying. He still had to talk to Francis about that. Or maybe…
“Oh no,” Carter was disappointed.
All Rachel didn’t want was to see Carter sad. Because Francis, eh! “Alright, you’re going to be a big brother!” She announced.
“What ?!” Brett and Carter reacted to Rachel’s announcement at the same time.
“Brett, I’m pregnant with our second child!” She was supposed to surprise him but Francis ruined it! He stared at his friend again because he was leading him. “Sis, how did you know I’m pregnant?” She asked this because she doesn’t remember the two of them talking about her pregnancy.
“Why do I know you! Cartie, did I tell you that your mom’s pregnant?” Francis asked the boy.
“Nope, you only mentioned that Daddy is going to marry her again soon,” Carter replied.
“Or did you hear that? I have always been the one accused in this house, “said Francis and left them all in the living room.
Rachel followed Francis because she knew it was upsetting her. “Sis, I didn’t say anything like that. I just asked, “Rachel explained.
“Just asking? But if you can look at me, don’t! ” Francis litany and discarded the woman’s hand holding his arm. “Don’t touch me!” he says.
“What about it, but you don’t really know?” Rachel asked the man again.
Francis smirked and glared at Rachel. “Your flirtation,” he whispered to the woman.
“I just inherited from you,” Rachel whispered.
“Well, I’ll leave you three so you can talk properly.” Francis said goodbye and went upstairs.
When he returned to the living room, his father and son greeted him and hugged him tightly. “Carter son, aren’t you sleepy yet? If you want, I will take you to your room. ” It was late at night and he didn’t want the child to get too tired.
“Later, Mom.” She let go of her parent’s embrace. “Hmmm Mom, Daddy and you smell like sweat.”
Rachel and Brett stared at each other when they heard what Carter said, and Brett was the first to recover from the shock. “We’re good at jogging,” he explained to the boy.
“At this hour?”
“Yeah. Shall we go upstairs now and sleep? ” Brett carried the boy to his room.
“I want to sleep with you and Mom,” Carter said.
“Why not?” Rachel said, but Brett didn’t seem to like the idea of having the child next to them.
They just reconciled their differences and he wanted to have Rachel for himself but things turned out differently when Carter insisted on sleeping with them. Although he was heavy -hearted, he finally agreed.
“Thank you, sweetheart.” Brett approached Rachel and hugged her tightly. “I promise to take good care of you.” Brett is grateful that he was given another chance to make up for all the shortcomings he had when Rachel became pregnant with their first child.
“It should be,” Rachel said as before kissing Brett on the cheek.
Since that night, Brett felt contented and complete in a sense that he wouldn’t ask for more. It’s not just in fairy tales that happily ever after happens. It can happen to anyone, just like Rachel. He realized that to make a marriage works, the husband and wife must have an open communication and he vowed not to make the same mistake that cost more than his happiness.
It was around two o’clock when someone called him on his phone. He didn’t want to ignore the caller but his cellphone rang several times and he was afraid that Rachel and Carter might wake up. When he saw who had called, he suddenly stood up and his eyes widened. He thought carefully about whether he should answer such a call or not and when he looked at Rachel’s behavior, the woman was sound asleep.
Brett got up, walked over to the door and came out. He went to the terrace so that his voice would not echo in the hallway of the second floor. He blew air and then he answered the call. “Yes Bettina, why?” He asked the woman.
“Let’s meet,” said the woman on the other line.
“Are you crazy already?” Brett controlled his voice so he wouldn’t yell at Bettina on the other line.
“I just want to say sorry,” he said.
“Then say it now! Why do we even need to meet. Look, I’m happy, Rachel and I, so please don’t bother us anymore. ” He begged the woman. “Are you drunk?” He was preceded by anger so he did not notice that the woman’s voice was strange.
“Just drank but not drunk,” he replied.
“Where are you?” He asked the woman. Brett sighed as he regretted why he had even answered the call.
“I’m here in Tonyos,” he said.
“Are you with someone? Your wife? ” he just wanted to know if someone was coming home with him especially and it was a bit drunk. “All right, wait for me.” He said before pocketing his cellphone. He sighed softly because he shouldn’t have agreed to meet Bettina but he was also to blame for why the woman acted like that. “Oh God!” he was surprised to see Rachel behind him. “Are you still there?” He asked the woman.
“Who is that?”
Even in the darkness he knew the woman’s face could not be painted. In that tone, Rachel was ready to be eaten alive. “Bettina Kim,” Brett replied.
His ear tingled when he heard the name of the woman who did nothing but hurt him and hinder his happiness. For Rachel, there would always be bad blood between her and that woman! “Why?”
“He said his colleagues left him in Tonyos and there was no one to ride home,” said Brett. “He also wants to apologize to me,” he added.
“Done?”
He seemed to be in the hotseat while Rachel teased him. With just a little mistake Brett made sure he could never go back to the woman’s life again. “I said I was going,” Brett replied.
“Why?”
Brett was even more nervous about Rachel’s one word questions. He would have preferred whether to shout it or go crazy, but it remained calm in front of him. “It’s a pity if I let him walk,” his voice was weak when he answered Rachel’s question.
“I see. So what are you waiting for? Let’s go!” He went back to their room first to get dressed.
Brett thought Rachel would drive him away and he breathed a sigh of relief because she just wanted to come along. “Will you come with me?”
“Of course! If I know, your ex’s flirting style is similar, eh! ”
“You don’t doubt me?” Brett was a little worried about Rachel’s calm reaction because he knew it.
“Not yet,” Rachel replied and then left the room. If he hadn’t just heard Brett’s reluctance earlier to meet with the woman, their conversation might have turned out differently.
“Okay, but why are you like that?” Brett noticed that she was wearing a very short skirt and that her pair of blouses was close to her body.
“We’re going to the bar, Brett. Don’t tell me to let me be embarrassed there. Bettina might even think that she is better than me, “said Rachel.
Brett laughed out loud at what the woman said and hugged her from behind. “You know, even if you wear a sack, you’re still the most beautiful woman in my eyes.” The language is Brett.
“Oh, rub your grandfather’s skin. Don’t be me Brett, because those lines won’t work for me. ” She was not like other women who believed everything their husbands said, but the ending was tearful. He had already experienced exchanging with Bettina before and he would never let that woman re -enact Brett’s life.
When they arrived at Tonyos, Rachel did not regret why she chose a sexy outfit because most of the women there were the same way. If he even listened to what Brett said, he would look like a lotion! He didn’t get out of the car right away because he wanted to surprise Bettina. He put Brett first and when the man came down, the coward immediately approached his wife. He tried to kiss Brett on the cheek but the man backed away. It’s good, because there will be a lot of trouble outside Tonyos if Brett kisses Bettina.
He slowly got out of the car and walked closer to the two. “Hello Bettina,” she smiled at the other woman who became speechless upon seeing her.
“I though you’re alone,” Bettina said when she recovered. Turning his back, he glared at his friends because he was sure he would lose their bet.
“I’m sorry you got it wrong, Bettina.” Said Rachel. “Is a thousand enough for your fare home? We still have a walk if you don’t mind, “Rachel added while giving Bettina the but that she can use as a taxi.
Rachel teased him face to face and when she looked at Brett’s behavior, it just didn’t defend him. “You still haven’t changed, Rachel. You are still rude and rude, “said Bettina.
Rachel smiled at the woman. “You too Bettina. To this day, you are still in love with Brett and me. If you don’t leave in front of me now, a couple of slaps will fall on your thick face! ”
They saw Bettina return to her companions and Brett looked at Rachel. “How did you know he lied?”
