“Whether you accept my challenge or not, Ella, It doesn’t change the fact that he’ll be mine at all costs.” She said that, and Eva chuckled.
“It’s funny how you think, Kathryn. Do you really think that you can have him again? I have the man in my hands, and I even have his heart, so tell me, what are you fighting for? What do you want from a man who can’t even remember who you are?” She asked with a mocking smile on her face, and Kathryn chuckled as she stared at her.
“He might not be able to remember me now, but that’s fine, because deep down, I know he knows me. I know that deep down in his heart, he knows that I’m the one he loves, so Ella, maybe you should just give up.” She said that, and Ella burst into laughter.
“What’s that word again? Hold on, I remember now. It’s pathetic. You’re being pathetic, Kathryn. Let’s not forget, I have his heart in my hands. I’m the only one he remembers, so please, do everyone a favor and go to hell.” She said that, and Kathryn clenched her fists.
“You only have an injection in your hands, Ella, but trust me, memory or not, I know I have a place in his heart, and I’m going to prove it. I’m not in the mood to fight, so please, do yourself a favor and leave.” She told Ella, who clenched her fists.
She didn’t want to leave; she wanted to mock Kathryn some more, but when she recalled the kind of person Kathryn was and how she could easily beat her black and blue if she chose to misbehave, she walked away.
Kathryn wiped her tears slowly as she turned away from the door, staring at the picture in her hands with a slight smile. It was the picture they had taken when he signed his first legal deal. There were so many things that made her smile about it, and she was happy he was doing well.
She wiped the picture slowly with her dress as her tears fell on it. “I’ll do anything to be with you again, Daniel, and that’s a promise I make to you; don’t worry.” She said with a smile as she took in a deep inhale. She tucked her hair behind her ear as she looked out of the window into the garden, and she couldn’t help but let the tears stream down her cheeks as she recalled the wonderful times they had under the garden.
She smiled to herself as she placed the picture on the bed before going to freshen up. She sat in the bathtub, and as she scrubbed her body slowly, the only thing that came to her mind was the time when Daniel had helped her bathe because she was very wounded. She stared at herself; she was wounded even now, but she still couldn’t be by his side, and neither could he be by hers.
She closed her eyes as she stared at her hand, and the moment she stared at her hand, the first thing that came to mind was the mark. She wished she had just told him the truth about it earlier, because if she had just done that, none of these things would be happening.
She sniffled, but it didn’t matter. What mattered was the fact that everything would soon be fine. It would be time for her to reap the fruits of her labor and patience. Sure, she didn’t expect everything to be given to her easily or freely, and she knew she would have to be punished for some of the mistakes she had committed, but if it meant, in the long run, that she would get to be with Daniel and Kathryn, she was willing to do it.
She finished washing herself up and went to bed. She placed the picture beside her and stared at Daniel’s face. “Since I can’t be with you right now, Daniel, I’ll just be with your memories. I love you, Daniel. I really do.” She showed him his picture and closed her eyes.
She took a deep inhale, and with that, he went to bed.
THE NEXT MORNING…
Meanwhile, Daniel was having a nightmare. In the nightmare, he had been getting stabbed over and over again, but the thing he just didn’t understand was how, despite being stabbed so many times, he wasn’t able to scream. He just lay numb on the bed while they kept sending the knife through him, but something was odd.
There was a woman beside him on the bed, and before he could see her face, he woke up. He held on to his chest as he looked around the room. He was safe, and there was no one there.
He ran his fingers through his hair as he dragged himself to the shower, getting ready for the day’s activities. He sighed. What was that dream, and why did he have it?
He slowly opened the door, and on walking out of the room, he bumped into someone, and just as she was about to fall, he held on to her by the waist, and they were both lost, staring into each other’s eyes.
She smiled as she stared at him, tears beginning to well up in her eyes again. “Good morning, Mr. Lopez.” She forced herself to say it, and he stared at her.
He could see something, and he could also get this tingling feeling in him. He wanted to say something, and that was when he recalled that she was the same woman who had come the previous day.
“And what are you doing here? Didn’t I already ask you to leave before?” He asked her, and she swallowed as she stared at him.
She parted her lips, about to speak, but then Ella cut her off. “Good morning, love. Well, she is the new housekeeper,” she said, turning to Kathryn. “Am I right?” She asked, and this was the only way she saw to still stay in the house, so she agreed.
“Yes, I am. I’m always at your service, sir.” She said this, clenching her fists, and Ella chuckled as she took a mob stick and handed it over to her.
“Well, he doesn’t need anything, so don’t worry about him. What you should actually worry about is your job, so come on, go clean up, and then we’ll have the food you’ve prepared. Thank you.” Ella said, and with that, she turned Daniel away.
Kathryn sighed. She was only doing this because she wanted to be with him in the long run. She wiped her tears slowly.
