She shook her head as she stared at the nurse. She didn’t want to believe that she had heard that right. “You’re joking, right? Please, tell me this is a joke; tell me you’re joking.” She told the nurse as she shook her head, tears streaming down her cheeks, and the nurse shook her head.
“No, madam. I’m not joking. His condition was critical; the knife hit a vital spot, and it seemed he had a poisoning case before being brought here.” The nurse told her, and she shook her head as tears streamed down her cheeks.
“No, Daniel.” She cried as she tried to get out of bed. How could this have happened? How was it possible that Daniel slipped into a coma?
More importantly, who took him home? She didn’t think he had any family, especially as he had never talked about any of them, so who could have taken him home? What happened? Why did it feel like she didn’t even understand anything that was going on?
“I have to go; I can’t let this happen. His life is in danger; I’m sorry, I have to go.” She yelled as she tried to get out of the bed, but then the moment her legs hit the ground, they gave way, and she closed her eyes, finally losing consciousness, and she fell into the nurse’s hands.
The nurse held on to her as she placed her back on the bed. She took her phone out with a smirk on her face. “She’s unconscious now; don’t worry about anything.” The nurse said that, and with that, she walked out of the room.
.
“We can’t let her leave the hospital. We are being paid a lot to keep her here and be sure she is unconscious, so we have to do just that, alright?” She heard someone say it, and the moment she learned that all was being done to keep her unconscious, she closed her eyes.
She didn’t want them to know she had regained consciousness, so she just laid there, acting like she hadn’t regained consciousness.
“Don’t worry, doctor. She won’t regain consciousness, and I’ll make sure of that. The money is a lot; we would have to work six months to get our hands on that money, so this is the best way to make cool cash.” One of the nurses said it with a smile on her face, and the doctor nodded.
“It’s good we know that much. Now, Kristy, you’d be here. I don’t trust this woman; she could wake up and leave at any moment, especially as she is so desperate to see the man, and you know we can’t let that happen. You’ll have to be watching her at all times, and when you notice that she is about to regain consciousness, you’ll inject her again.” The doctor said this, and Kathryn clenched her fists slowly.
Those monsters! How could they even do those things to her? She swallowed. So what if she didn’t want to do it for all those years? At least the skills and knowledge she had gained from them wouldn’t go to waste.
She waited till they were done talking, and after some time, the doctor left.
She just laid there, making sure she didn’t give any signs of someone who had regained consciousness as she waited for the door to make a sound that showed the nurse had left, but the nurse didn’t, and she was slowly starting to lose it.
She took a deep inhale, and when she lost it, she opened her eyes immediately. She had gathered enough strength from being awake for a long time, and as such, she was able to grab the first injection she found beside her bed, and not caring what it was, she injected the nurse, and luckily, it was a sedative. The nurse collapsed right into her arms immediately, and she placed her on the bed.
She was able to switch clothes with the nurse, and even though she was still in a lot of pain from the wounds, she was able to leave the room and the hospital. She got into the first taxi that came her way and headed straight to Daniel’s house.
She didn’t know how to face him, even though he was unconscious, but it didn’t matter. She was willing to accept whatever punishment he deemed fit for her. She was willing to accept punishment for the betrayal she had done to him. All she just wanted was to start afresh, with Kathryn in her life, away from the godfather.
She got out of the car, and when the driver asked for his pay, she took some money out of the nurse’s pocket and walked to the gate.
“Peter! Peter, open the gate!” She called out, and the moment the gate opened, she was shocked to see strange guards at the gate.
“Yes, who are you looking for?” One of them asked her, and she tucked her hair behind her ear as she looked around.
“I live here; I’m with Daniel Lopez. Who are you people?” She asked them, and they turned to each other as they chuckled.
“I’m sorry, we’ve been told by others not to let you in. You can’t see Mr. Lopez. That’s final.” The guard said that, and it was at that moment that she recalled what the godfather had told her about taking Daniel away from her.
He had told her he would take Daniel so far from her that she wouldn’t be able to talk to him, despite him being close. She stared at them; she would never let them happen.
She grabbed the guns of one of the guards as she walked into the house. “On your back, now!” She told them, and they stepped back as they laid on the floor.
The moment she was into the house, she locked the main door and put on the soundproofing, and hence, despite all the banging from outside, they didn’t hear her.
She walked to Daniel’s room, and there she found him unconscious. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she walked to him. “Daniel!” She called as tears streamed down her cheeks. “I’m so sorry, Daniel. I….” Before she could finish speaking, someone came and dragged her off the bed.
“And who are you?” She heard a woman ask, and she stared at the woman.
“I’m Kathryn. I’m here because…”
“Get out!” The woman yelled, and Kathryn stared at her, confused.
“Pardon?”
“I’m in love with him, and I’ll do everything to be with him. You’re a threat to us, so get out!” The woman yelled, and as such, he pushed her away, and she hit her head against the wall.
