He stared at her, shocked. What could have come over her now? “Kathryn, what’s wrong with you? What happened to you all of a sudden?” He asked her, and she chuckled/
“What’s wrong with me? You should ask yourself that question, Daniel. Nothing is wrong with me. Perhaps the problem is from you. Have you thought about that yet?” She asked him, and he stepped back in shock.
“How am I the problem?” He asked her. “You…” before he could finish talking to her, he recalled something.
It had to be that call, she was fine earlier, and they had being smiling at each other. Everything was going very smoothly till that call came in.
“Tell me, Kathryn. It’s that call, isn’t it? It’s because of the call that you recieved that you’re acting this way. Tell me, what did they say to you? Why are you acting like this?” He asked her, as he tried to place his hand on her shoulder but she pushed it off.
“It’s not the call. You’re just worrying for something that you shouldn’t be worried about.” She told him and made to leave when he grabbed her by the arm, pulling her closer to himself as he stared at her.
“Tell me, what’s going on with you? What happened to you?” He asked her, and she closed her eyes.
She rolled her eyes as she took in a deep inhale. “I’ve told you, there’s nothing wrong. Let go of me.” She told him as she continued to try and get away from him, but she couldn’t. She kept on struggling, but he held on to her very tightly.
Despite holding on to her tightly, he made sure he was very careful, and as such, didn’t hurt her. “Let go of me, leave me.” She told him, and he refused.
“Tell me, where have you being all day? I know you didn’t come back to the house after you went to get that call, so tell me, what happened?” He asked her, and she rolled her eyes as she finally managed to push him away.
“Leave me alone. Of course I returned, why would I be out for that long?” She asked him as she gulped, nervously.
“It’s funny how you try to lie. It’s really pathetic how you try to lie when you know you’re terrible with it. You’re bad liar, Kathryn. Don’t even try lying.” He told her.
She stared at him. “I’m not lying, you’re just making things up.” She told him and made to leave, but this time, he held on to her hand.
He dragged her till they were at the table and she stared at him, confused. “Stop lying already, please. This is exactly how I left the table and that was after you left. I know you, Kathryn. You’re very hardworking and you’ll never be comfortable with leaving the table this way, so come on, tell me, where have you being all day?” He asked her, and she smiled slightly.
“Listen to me, Daniel. I was just out of the house, am I a prisoner that I can’t leave? I am not a prisoner in this house, Daniel. I can leave when I please, so please, it’s a request, don’t bother me.” She told him, and made to leave when he dragged her back.
“‘You’re not a prisoner here, did I ever say you were? I only have one thing to say to you. Whenever you leave the house, just inform me, please.” He told her, and she pushed his hand off.
“What difference is that to being in prison? I won’t tell you where I’m off to, especially because I know if you knew where I was off to, you’d never let me go.” She told him, and with that, left.
What could have gotten into her? Why was she acting this way? He took in a deep inhale, what could be wrong with her? He had never treated her like a prisoner, he was only worried about her so why was she saying these things to him?
If he knew she was headed there, he wouldn’t let her. Where could that be? He didn’t even know any of the places she visited so how could he stop her ?
Something was definitely wrong, and he had to find out. Even if it wasn’t for the sake of the love he had for her, for their friendship at least. He had to find out what had come over her.
The man! It suddenly came to his mind. There was a man, she had saved him countless times so could it be that because of the man, she had left the house for that long?
No, he didn’t want to believe it. He had told her times withiut number to forget about the man and it seemed she had so it couldn’t be. If she didn’t go visit the man, then who could she have gone to see?
He had to confirm. He immediately left the house, getting into his car as he started to drive off to the building where he had being keeping the man in question.
When he got there, it looked different. The building didn’t look like it used to and it seemed like there had being a robbery there. He immediately rushed to the room where he had kept the man, and on getting there, he saw that the man wasn’t there.
The ropes that had being used to tie him down were now on the floor, and he was nowhere to be seen. “Greg!” He yelled in anger, and some men rushed in.
“Boss.” The man said, and staggered before Daniel.
“What’s going on here? Where is the man?” Daniel asked him, angrily, and he took in a deep sigh.
“I’m so sorry, boss. I swear, it all happened so fast. A woman had come in here, I couldn’t recognize her, and she sprayed something. With that, we lost consciousness and then she helped him escape. I don’t know why, it all happened fast.”
Daniel clenched his fists on hearing this, could it be Kathryn? She had always being against him keeping the man hostage after all.
