Kathryn sat as she stared into thin air, she had to admit, it didn’t matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t stay mad at Daniel for so long but then, what would have happened had he killed that man?
Had Louis not being there to push Daniel off, the man would have probably being dead. What use was it speaking to him if he didn’t value the people she valued?
She had taken a bullet for the man for goodness sake, didn’t it show him how important that man was to her? She could have died after being shot for that man but it didn’t matter to Daniel now did it? All he cared about was his name.
She sighed, what was she to do? She couldn’t stay mad at him for so long but then, she had no choice. She had to show him that she wanted her opinion to be valued too. Luckily, he had gotten better and hence, didn’t need her help because she was sure she would have being broken by then.
She tucked her hair behind her ear as she continued her work, the fact that she was his seductress didn’t mean she would not perform her duties as his assistant now did it.
While she worked, some documents were flung her way and she raised her head in shock to stare at Daniel who had flung the papers at her.
“What the heck?” She asked angrily as she stared at him and he shook his head, sighing at intervals.
“Of what use is it being my assistant if you don’t know the major wins of the company?” He asked her and she took the paper,
“Are you firing me?” She asked him as she went through the papers and he hissed softly.
“The company has just bagged a million dollar deal with some investors and there will be a party for it” he said and she went through the documents. “I’ll go straight to the point, I want you to anchor the party. Make sure everything is done well. I wouldn’t take incompetently done arrangements, keep that in mind” he told her and she stared at him as she clenched her fists.
This was such a slap to her face but then, what could she do? She was his employee after all.
“Alright.” She told him and made to leave when he dragged her back to himself and she gasped slightly as she looked into those eyes of his, they made her weak suddenly.
The moment she realized his eyes were having an effect on her, she quickly looked away as she swallowed before pushing him away, running away and he smirked slightly. “Let’s see how long you can resist me Kathryn” he said to himself with a smile and that was when he felt someone tap him from behind.
“Brother, brother, brother.” He beard Louis call and he clenched his fists, he just hated the sound of his cousin’s voice.
He knew that whatever was happening between himself and Kathryn was all because of Louis and he would make sure his brother paid for all this.
He hissed slightly and made to leave when Louis dragged him back with a smirk, “brother, won’t you speak to me? Has a woman become more important to you than I am?” He asked with a little smirk and Daniel clenched his fists.
“Let go of my hand Louis. You wouldn’t like what I would do to you if you don’t” he said as he turned to face Louis and he immediately let go.
He wouldn’t dare go against Daniel’s wishes for fear of what he would do to him.
“I have a challenge for you brother ” he told Daniel with a smirk on his face and Daniel stared at him and the sight of that smirk on Louis’ face made him even more angry than he already was but then knowing the kind of person Louis was, he did his best to hide it.
Louis would definitely make sure to rub it in his face when he saw how angry he had become so he had to hide it.
“I’m not interested” he said and made to leave when Louis spoke.
“It involves Kathryn” Louis said with a smile and Daniel immediately stopped as he turned without speaking. “You’re hosting a party are you not? Trust me, I’ll use this party and get Kathryn for myself. She’ll become mine after this party brother, wait and watch.” He told Daniel with confidence and that confidence Louis possessed angered Daniel to the core but then, he had to hide it.
Daniel smirked slightly in a way that highlighted his perfectly sculpted jawline as he stared at Louis, “you know it baffles me how you can be so stupid Louis ” he said as he stared at him before placing his hand on Louis’ shoulder. “You’re challenging me right?” He gave a slight chuckle as he stared at Louis.
“What does it sound like to you, brother?” Louis asked as he stared at Daniel and then he smirked before taking his hands off Louis’ shoulder.
“Well, I accept.” He said as he tightened his eyebrows and Louis smiled to himself.
“May the best man win then” he said with a smile as he walked away and Daniel stared at him.
The moment Louis walked away, it felt like a lurking spirit left and Daniel shook his head, how could he have made such a ridiculous bet? Didn’t he know who Louis was? He sighed, he had being fooled. He knew the kind of person Louis was didn’t he? Why then did he still go ahead to accept such a ridiculous bet?
THREE DAYS LATER….
Daniel stared at Kathryn with a smile as she conversed with the other people at the party, she had done an excellent job and he could tell by merely staring at it.
Louis stared at katheyn, lustfully. He had made a plan, one that would ensure she became his.
He signaled for a waiter to come his way and he whispered something into the waiter’s ear as he passed some money and a substance to the waiter.
As they conversed, the waiter pointed towards Kathryn and he nodded. The waiter smiled, assuring him the job would be done.
He watched as the waiter walked to Kathryn before handing her the juice and she smiled before placing it to her lips.
He smiled to himself, the moment Kathryn consumed that drink would be the very moment he won the challenge.
