Kathryn sighed as she successfully tucked him in before walking out of the room. She went to the balcony as she put her hand on her chest, memories of how scared she had felt when she had walked into the house and seen him on the floor, unconscious.
“Doctor!” She called as she saw the doctor walking into the house.
“Where’s the patient?” The doctor asked and she led her into the room. “Could you wait outside? I’ll need to check him first” the doctor said and she shook her head in approval.
“No problem ” she said as she stood outside the room, her hand on her chest.
Why was she feeling so worried about Daniel? Why did she feel her heart come out of her chest the very moment she had seen him lying on the floor in a pool of blood?
Louis stared from a corner, Kathryn hadn’t recalled that he was home so he was safe. It made him angry that Kathryn was this worried about Daniel. He wished she was worried about him but she wasn’t .
“Why didn’t you die Daniel? Why did you live?” He asked angrily as he walked back into his room, crashing into his bed as he closed his eyes.
The doctor rushed out of the room and Kathryn immediately rushed to her. “Doctor, how is he?” She asked “hope he is fine now?” She asked worries.
“He is better now, he just sustained some injuries. I don’t think he fell directly off the railing because the injuries he would have sustained had that being the case would have severe but they aren’t that severe. I do have a proposal though because he injured his neck rather badly so I think when he tell, he’d landed on the couch or rather something that caused him to break his neck when he fell” the doctor said.
“Break his neck? How could he have broken his neck?” She asked and she could feel her heart beating very fast. Her heart had never beat this fast, not even when her own life was in danger so why was it beating so fast now because of Daniel?
“You don’t need to worry about anything madam. I’ve prescribed some drugs for him. Don’t you think you should come with me so the pharmacist so you can get them? It’ll speed his recovery process up” she told Kathryn.
“That will be the best option Doctor. Let’s go ” she said as they walked out of the house.
Louis walked out of the room as he stared at Kathryn and the doctor walk out. He was so furious, what was so special about Daniel that she cared so much about him? She had barely even returned from where she went and she was already taking care of Daniel.
He walked into Daniel’s room where he saw Daniel still unconscious and he clenched his fist hard. He wanted to kill Daniel now that he was vulnerable but one thing was for sure, if he killed Daniel now, there would only be one person Kathryn would suspect and it would be no other person but him and if she got to find out that whatever was happening to her beloved Daniel was because of him, she would never like him.
For some reason, it annoyed him to know that Kathryn won’t be his. He stayed in Daniel’s room as he saw him unconscious and it brought him immense satisfaction to see Daniel in the state he was in.
When he got tired of sitting and watching an unconscious Daniel, he got up and walked out of the room.
“Louis?” He heard someone call him and on turning, he saw Kathryn standing in front of him. “Have you been home the whole time?” She asked him as she walked into the room and hurriedly kept the drugs before walking back out.
“You’re back, I didn’t think you’d be back so soon” he told her and she stared at him angrily.
“What is wrong with you? How can you act so unbothered about your cousin brother?” She asked him angry and for some reason, it broke him to know that she was so upset with him.
“I did it because he deserved it. He had come back home this way and I was sure he deserved it but at that time, I was still willing to help him but do you know where my willingness to help him died?” He asked her.
“It doesn’t matter where he went wrong, he could have died because of you as you left him there, unattended to” she said angrily.
“I did that because he was lying to you, he was trying to hide something from you and he was doing something behind your back” he told her.
“It doesn’t matter, it’s not necessary he tells me everything he does and when he does it. He…..”
“He wants to kill a man you took a bullet for without your knowledge because he feels you’ll stop him again” he told her and she immediately kept quiet.
“You’re joking are you not?” She asked as she moved back in shock.
“I’m not” he told her. “He’d returned, staggering and I could see how injured he was and I wanted to help him but then I overheard him say that the man should be beaten up badly. Kathryn shouldn’t know about it because last time, she took a bullet for him. Who knows what she’ll do this time” he told her and Kathryn stared at him.
“Are you really telling me the truth?” She asked him as she stared at him, shocked. She couldn’t believe Daniel would still go behind her back and try to hurt the same man she took a bullet for.
“Why would I lie to you? He’s my brother is he not? Why would I want to hurt him or let him die deliberately?” He asked her and she stared at him, he had a point.
“Please excuse me, I have something urgent to do” she told him as she hurriedly walked out on him.
Immediately she walked out on him, he burst into laughter. Luckily, he’d overheard when Daniel was speaking of getting the truth out of the man and now, he was using it against Daniel.
“She’s hurt, I’m going to use it to my advantage ” he thought to himself as he laughed maniacally.

“Kathryn hold on” Daniel called after her as she walked to the door.
“What is it? What do you want from me?” She asked him angrily as she stared at him.
“The truth. Why have you been acting this way lately? Why have you been acting so strangely with me, what have I done to you?” He asked her as he stared at her.
“If you’re always going to doubt me and go against me, of what use is telling you the truth?” She asked “now if you would please, I have some work to get to now” she told him as she made to walk out on him when he called her back.
“And who will drive you to the office?” He asked her, hoping that would get him a chance to converse with her.
“I will” he heard Louis say. “Goodbye brother ” he said as he walked out of the house with Kathryn.
Louis smiled to himself as he turned to give Daniel a wink. Angrily, Daniel threw his car keys to the floor.
