Third Person’s POV
After Jefferson left, Celina started to work on her design. After the last five designs, she finished before meeting with Jefferson in Clandestine. She had not accepted any project after that because she had been busy with their wedding to Jefferson.
Thinking about their wedding, Celina realized that Jefferson had been with her all the time. He accompanied her in choosing her gown and even when she talked to the wedding organizers.
She didn’t want to have a grand wedding but John wanted it so much, so she let him do what he wanted. Shedding heard Jefferson complain about everything and she was happy about that. The only thing that angered him was when he left last night. On the night of their wedding, She decided to stop thinking about it anymore and work on her new project.
Jefferson, on the other hand, went back to his study room. He wanted to make a plan for Celina to follow as she managed the companies. He will be making a list of people she can ask for help as well and make calls to people he knows that will look after his wife as she works.
But because of what Celina had told him, thinking about divorce, he didn’t bother doing what he had planned to do. He started to think that Celina was thinking about it because of Noris. He doesn’t know if Celina feels the same way as Noris, but he hopes not. He will never tolerate infidelity.
He stayed in his study room and tried to finish a few pieces of paperwork so it would be a lot easier for Celina when he guided her.
Both of them did their work the whole afternoon. Celina was satisfied with what she accomplished and thought that she would be able to still do some side jobs even if she was working for the company.
“Are you done yet?” Jefferson asked her after he went back to see her.
“Yeah,”
“I want to talk to you about the company,” He said, and sat on the chair opposite to her.
“I will call for a meeting tomorrow morning. I am going to introduce you to the board and the administrative staff. I already told my assistant about you and he was ready as well,” Jefferson said, and Celina nodded. “I am going to repeat, call me if you need anything.” He added.
“I already said yes,” Celina replied, annoyed. She didn’t want to be told twice or repeatedly.
“I am only reminding you.”
“Fine. What time are we going to leave tomorrow?”
“The usual office hours.”
“I don’t know the usual office hours. I worked in a food chain, bar etc. but not in an office.”
“We will leave here at 7 am.” Jefferson said. He was starting to get irritated with how she talked. He was thinking of what she was going to be when she was left by herself.
“See you at 7 then.” She said and stood up, leaving Jefferson. She was still mad at him for leaving on their wedding night. She felt that he breached their contract as they agreed to work things out and yet he left her on the night when a newly married couple should be together. ‘For sure, we would never do anything on that night, but he should have respected me as his wife. What if I was the one who left him that night for another man?’ She thought.
The next morning, Jefferson woke up early. He didn’t know what time Celina got into their room because, after their dinner, she stayed in the living room while Jefferson went to bed. He only realized that she had not slept in their bedroom as the part where she needed to be was empty and had no trace of being slept on.
Jefferson went to the bathroom and started taking a bath and was thinking of how he was going to reprimand Celina for not sleeping in their room. ‘It’s not as though I am going to do something to her or whatever.’ he thought to himself. After bathing, he got dressed and went down to the dining hall and found Celina there, eating.
“Where did you sleep?” Jefferson asked.
“In my room.”
“Didn’t I already tell you that you would be sleeping in our room?”
“I am comfortable when I am alone,” she replied casually.
“You will be sleeping in our room. We are married, and whether you like it or not, we are stuck to each other for the rest of our lives. So, you better get used to it, starting now.” he said, and started eating. He didn’t like the idea that she thought that she was at the losing end of their marriage, while Celina was thinking about how he and his girlfriend were when they saw each other.
Celina didn’t answer him at all and continued to eat and he didn’t say no more. They both stood up and went to the waiting car after and headed on to the office.
They entered Jefferson’s office and his assistant Daria followed them and started to report to him what he needed to do for the day. Celina was just listening to them as she studied everything that she needed to know about Jefferson’s daily routine so she would get the hang of it once he left.
“Please guide Celina when I am away, both of you can call me if you need anything or if there was something you had a hard time dealing with and I will be back.” he said, looking at Daria, who nodded her head and Celina, who was busy taking notes. “That’s all.” he told Daria and she went out of his office to prepare for the meeting with the board.
“Celina,” Jefferson called her attention and she looked at him, “Most of the board members are old but they are shrewd. Don’t let yourself get intimidated by them because they will take that chance to make things hard for you,” he said and she nodded. “While I am still here, you can ask me about what you wanted to know, which part you have been having a hard time with or didn’t understand. Dad put you in the presidential position, so I’m sure that you are capable. He will never appoint you if you can’t, no matter how much he adores you. That’s how I know him.” he added, and he caught Celina’s attention.
“Even if it was like that, you are still new to this thing. As you have already said, you only work in food chains, bars, etc. I have no intention of belittling you, but this company is important to me, so I don’t want anything to happen to it. I know you already knew it. So I am counting on you when I’m away.” he added. She was about to say something but Daria came in and told them that the meeting was ready.
They got in the meeting room and there they found the board talking but were silent as soon as they got in. Celina was thinking that they did look like what Jefferson had told her and she was sure that she would never let them intimidate her.
The meeting had started and Celina noticed that they didn’t like her to be the officer in-charge when Jefferson was away. “How can she handle everything here when she knows nothing about the company, especially the bank?” One of the older directors asked.
“That’s why I’m still here, so I can teach her how the company works.”
“You will only guide her for two weeks, will that be enough?” the other director asked.
“Even if I am away, I will see to it that I will be guiding her. My assistant Daria will be staying here as well, so if there is anything that is needed, my assistant can inform me right away and I will be back.” Jefferson replied.
“Will that suffice? How about the casino branch that you promised to focus on?”
“I know what I am going to do, so you don’t have to worry. You will be staying here and you will be able to know whether Celina was capable or not. If, by any chance, you find her insufficient for the job, you can tell me and I am going to settle everything.” Jefferson replied, and Celina was amazed at how dominant Jefferson was in the meeting. Even if he was young, he could intimidate the board of directors and he could silence them by just looking at them.
She was sure that they couldn’t do anything about what Jefferson’s decision was. And just as she thought, “Then we will hold on to your word. We know that she is your wife and your father believes in her, but knowing she is new in the business, that worries us all.”
“I understand.” Jefferson said, and looked at Celina, who looked like she wasn’t paying attention at all. The meeting had ended and the board decided to believe in Jefferson for the time being. But Jefferson believed that they would do everything to make things hard for his wife, so he had to warn her.
“You have to be careful when I leave, you are in-charge, so don’t let them control you,” he said when they were back to his office.
“I know, I already have an idea about what they want,” Celina replied.
