“Open up the bandage.” Ace requested and walked towards the bed where Sophia laid. He tried so much to control his emotions.
Sophia on the other hand was awake and trying to stay still, She heard Ace’s voice. She got the urge to speak but couldn’t because of the bandage that prevented her from doing so.
She was also wishing to see her friend’s face. She misses her alot.
The doctor slowly removed the bandage and Ace saw the new face and felt down.
“Why just why?” He said, hitting his folded arms on the hospital wall.
Cynthia couldn’t hold back her tears as freshly hot tears were rushing down from her face. Sophia was still trying to understand what’s going on but she couldn’t just get it. Why is Cynthia crying and why is Ace acting strange?
“Sis…” Cynthia called Sophia as she couldn’t control her tears from dropping down.
“Sis…” Sophia called Cynthia, more like a whisper as Cynthia wiped her tears and walked to Sophia’s bed, held Sophia’s arm as she continued to stare at Sophia’s new face with her teary eyes.
“Sis… I’m sorry I wasn’t there to protect you.” Cynthia said and cried out in pain as a drop of tear left the doctor’s eyes.
“It’s fine sis. I have missed you.” Sophia replied and wiped Cynthia’s tears with her palm.
“Stop crying, I’m okay now,” She assured her but Cynthia couldn’t stop the cry.
Sophia looked over to Ace, she didn’t know what he was thinking because his expression was blank, he was expressionless. His hands were inside his pocket. He stood and continued to look at Sophia and Cynthia as his eyes turned weak.
“What’s wrong? I know I was asleep for a long time but I’m fine now. Look, the operation is successful. I’m fine.” She assured, but didn’t hear a reply from Ace.
“Miss Sophia, during the operation we did for you, your face got seriously damaged and we couldn’t make use of your face so we… we changed your face.” The doctor said out and she looked over to Ace who was slowly folding his fist as if he was getting ready to punch someone.
She brought out her hand and touched her face. She couldn’t believe her face had changed. That was the main reason they were all staring and saying sorry to her?
“Can I have a mirror?” She asked with her tiny weak voice and the doctor gave her.
She looked at her face and gasped as hot tears gushed down from her eyes.
“Sis…” Sophia called and held Cynthia’s hand so tight as both eyes dripped out some tears.
“I am very sorry.” Cynthia begged in tears. Her face was already red.
Sophia looked over to Ace again and could feel the emotions in him. She could feel how he was feeling the pain In his heart.
“You don’t need to be sorry.” She said to Cynthia as she cried out and held her face, touching and imagining her new look. Tears didn’t stop pouring out. She silently sobbed and turned towards Ace as their eyes met.
He took a few steps and stood in front of her and then, he slowly bent down, then held her hand like it was precious to him.
“Sophia darling,” He called with his deep, vibrant voice. She looked at his eyes in tears.
“I am sorry, I am sorry for not being able to do anything when you needed my help.” He begged.
Sophia looked at him in tears, and tried not to say anything as she looked to the other end of the room so as not to get so emotional by his words.
“Sis, Ace wasn’t at fault. Please try to understand.” Cynthia pleaded but Sophia didn’t say a word.
“I didn’t plan this all my life… I never planned to become someone’s enemy. I don’t want my face to become someone else own as well
But I guess life isn’t as we think.” She said in tears. Ace slowly cleaned her eyes.
“It was entirely my fault. I shouldn’t have left you all by yourself at that party. I’m sorry.” He apologized, still holding Sophia’s arm as he began to cry.
“It wasn’t your fault ” She said and wiped his tears.
“I am sorry sis, I am really really sorry.” Cynthia said and caressed Sophia’s hair.
“It’s okay, I will be alright,” She replied, trying to hold back her tears.
After a few minutes, Sophia quietly slept off and then, the doctor and Cynthia walked out of the room, leaving Sophia and Ace.
Ace watched her peaceful sleeping face. He was really pained in his heart. He wished he could bring back the time when she wanted to get kidnapped so he could be there for her, but it wasn’t possible. He wanted to be able to see her shining in armour but fate happened. He didn’t act fast and he regretted it.
It wasn’t intentional to cause Sophia a lot of stress but after Sophia, knowing him, a lot of things had happened and he knew he was the cause.
If he had been more careful and did things carefully, her face wouldn’t be damaged. He felt deeply ashamed of himself.
“I am sorry for causing you a lot of trouble.” He knelt down and kissed her fingers.
“I am deeply sorry for causing you a lot of pain, I was a coward trying to act all brave but I knew when it comes to you, I am never that kind of brave anymore. I am sorry for being an asshole and for being a burden to you, I am sorry for bringing a lot of shit into your life, I know you are hurt and so I am but please just forgive me. I know i’m not worth your forgiveness but just please…” He pleaded and pecked her forehead.
“I am soooo sorry.” After saying that, a drop of tears fell down from his face.
Almighty Ace cried for a girl.
He stood up and cleaned his eyes with his white handkerchief then his face turned into that expressionless man as he left the room.
After he got out, the doctor rushed in to check if everything was okay.
“The doctor knew Ace was emotional and he was very sorry for him. It was the first time he was seeing Ace this emotional, so he knew the lady lying on the hospital bed was a very special soul to Ace.
