“I despise them! They irritate me so much!”
Marian persuaded me that I should reconcile with my father.
“Not just now, Marian!” says the narrator. “I still despise him!” When I remembered how my father had stopped me from following Dominic, I crumpled the paper in my fingers and balled my fist.
“It’s been a few months since you haven’t seen him; don’t you think it’s past time you forgive him?” He’s already been through a lot!” She stated her case.
I opted to be obstinate, refusing to be swayed by her comments. I rubbed my palm over my growing baby tummy and reflected on the good times I spent with Dominic. I murmured, “I missed Dominic so much.”
“If you’re meant to be together, he’ll come back to you. Now, enough with the nonsense; come home with me!”
I left home because I didn’t particularly appreciate seeing my father every day at home, and I blamed him for my heartbreak. “I’m not ready to go home just yet!” I objected.
“If that’s what you want, I’ll have your father come over!” ” She cautioned, and I raised my eyebrows, doubting her sanity.
“Why are you torturing me like this?” ”
“Your one-sided passion for that man has blinded you! ” She said, and I looked at her in astonishment.
“Is it one-sided? Marian, how do you say that? He is smitten with me! ” I defended the father of my unborn child from Marian, who, like Papa, thought the worst of him!
“If you believe that, you are naive. If he loves you, he should have fought for you instead of leaving!” She brought up the things I had been refusing to accept for a few months, and it hit me like a ton of bricks.
Marian’s comments shattered my heart, and I began to cry. “How should I proceed, Marian?” He has a special place in my heart. Do you realize how difficult it is to live without him?” Tears streamed down my cheeks, and I quickly wiped them away with my hands. I didn’t want her to see me crying for a man, but the prospect of never seeing him again makes me so sad.
“You can get over him, and if he returns, don’t give him another chance to abandon you.” She gave advice, but it also came out as a warning. “Alternatively, you can swallow your pride and go looking for him,” she said.
“Are you sure about Dominic?” says the narrator. According to my interpretation, you are the only one who loves him, and this is dangerous. Unrequited love is bound to hurt you,” she said, based on her own experience.
I stared into space for a bit, trying to remember if Dominic had ever declared his love for me, but all I could think of was when we were in bed. Marian noticed the heat in my cheeks when I shook my head. She was concerned that I would become ill as a result of my obsession with Dominic.
“I’ll accompany you, but I’m not going to speak to Papa,” I stated.
My decision to return home made her happy, and it was then that I realized how much worry I had caused her during the previous months. Fine wrinkles could be seen on her forehead, as well as dark circles beneath her eyes.
What have I done to the people who have dedicated their lives to loving and caring for me? Was my Father tense as well? I considered asking but decided against it.
I came face to face with him – my father! – a few minutes later. I looked at his features, and they were all the same. Even with his gray hair and a few wrinkles, he remained attractive.
“Welcome home, Juliana!” he exclaimed as I walked in the door as if there had been no misunderstanding for the previous few months.
In response, I raised my brows, and she grinned. “How are you doing, Papa?” I inquire. ” I inquired, and he broke down in tears.
It stunned me, and I froze in front of him, refusing to move even as he tightly gripped me. He said, “I’m delighted you’re back.”
I don’t know what I’ve done to him. I considered retracting my harsh remarks to Dominic when I made an ultimatum to disown him if he did not return. “I’m sorry,” I apologized and admitted to my mistake of leaving home over a man who didn’t bother to send me a message since he left. Dominic didn’t even bother to check on me!
When we walked up to the dining table, where they were preparing a feast for my return, he inquired, “Have you moved on from that man?”
“It’s not easy, Pa,” I said.
He agreed with me, “No, it isn’t.” “But if you want to meet him again, you can go to his office,” he advised.
“Never,” I stated emphatically. “Can I go to my room because I’m tired?”
“Sure,” he said, allowing me to depart in the middle of our meal.
I was alone in my room when I noticed my phone, which I had purposefully not brought to the resort, and checked for any possible missed calls from him, but there were none.
Nothing! No calls, no messages, nothing! I didn’t want to use my Facebook account anymore, but it was the only way I could see Dominic. He added me before, and we’re both on Facebook. I immediately looked up his fictitious name and…
“He obstructed my path!” I was shocked when I couldn’t find him on my friend’s list, but before I tossed away my phone, I checked out and created a new account. I tried searching for his name on my second account to see if he had barred me or canceled his account… Then I came across his profile!
As I gazed at his profile photo, I grinned cruelly. As a result, he has effectively blocked me! I stared at his photo for a long time, vowing to avenge my hurt sentiments and pride. He had the audacity to make me feel unwanted while I was carrying his child!
I was filled with rage and frustration, and I wanted to yell, shatter things, and cry, but I had to push myself to calm down since it wasn’t good for the baby.
My nostrils flared in rage as I canceled my account, deleted his number from my contact list, then went to my phone settings and modified the phone call interception restrictions. Unregistered numbers could no longer phone or text me after this was completed!
“Dominic, I despise you! I absolutely despise you!” I kept repeating that until I was able to relax a little.
I wanted to crush his bones, to make him suffer for what he had done to me, and to show him that he couldn’t mess with me! When Marian walked into my room, I was fuming. When I raised my eyes to her, she frowned at my looks.
“Why don’t you take a shower to get some fresh air?” She recommended it because I was a shambles. My pulse quickened as she recalled how humiliating it felt to be duped and teased by Dominic. I wanted to avenge myself, but I didn’t know how!
“How can I de-stress, Marian?” I was desperate to see him and kill him with my own hands!” I let out a frustrated yell.
“No one is going to stop you from seeing him,” she continued. I thought about what she said, but I wasn’t sure I was ready to face him again.
“Should I?” says the narrator. I wanted her to give me her honest opinion. She said without hesitation, “Of course.”
I should take a shower first if I wanted to avenge my pride. “Could you please check to see whether Dominic is in his office?”
She said, “Sure.”
I intended to take a fast shower, but I ended up spending more than an hour in the bathroom. Marian was no longer in the room when I exited. “How do I appear?” Marian was asked to provide her opinion on the dress I chose. Princess seams and exaggerated balloon sleeves fashioned the sculptural button-front stretch poplin dress, which had a tropical pineapple print.
Marian took a close look at me and then narrowed her eyes at me. “Perfect!” She said while fixing the sleeves on my outfit, she said.
“Should I change my outfit?” After discovering that half of my thighs were visible, she paused in her choice of attire.
“It’s all up to you, Marian. He’ll be blown away by the suit! Juliana recommended, “Show him your playful side.”
“Are you advising me to flirt with this dress?”
“Why not? Go have some fun in Ethan’s office.”
I said rashly, “Let’s go to the salon for my hair color.”
Marian agreed, “Sure.”
I went for the ruby red hair because I wanted to stand out in the hotel lobby. When I arrived at the front desk, I told the clerk to phone the Chairman and advise him that Juliana Vera was on her way to see him in his office. After his return from seclusion, Ethan Salcedo was recently elected by the Board of Directors as the new Chairman of The S Hotel.
When I read that Ethan had chosen to become a recluse for the time being to prepare for his demanding duty as Chairman, I snorted. I figured if I said something about the string of ladies he kept during his so-called isolation, it would make the news.
My heart rate accelerated as I approached his office, and I continued to bite my lower lip. I was nervous, but there was no way I could back out. When I walked in, his secretary greeted me and sent me to his private office.
I swallowed hard to draw the man’s attention away from the panorama outside the building. I waited for him to turn around, but I wasn’t expecting him to be scowling at me.
What the fuck!
I was supposed to be the one who became enraged, but Dominic was the one who glared at me. I raised an eyebrow to inquire about his reaction, but Dominic’s voice boomed like thunder before I could open my lips to speak.
When he saw my red hair and the mini-dress that barely covered my thighs, he was taken aback. It was so short that as I bent a little, people would see me.
He remarked, “You looked wild and different from the woman I fell in love with.”
I didn’t give a damn if he frowned at my clothes.
I could stare at him for the rest of my life and never grow weary of it. Is it because of his brown dreadlocks, which he wears in a ponytail? Was it his chiseled jawline, or was it something else?
Perhaps it’s due to his oozing sex appeal. I thought he wouldn’t smile when his brown eyes returned my stare… but he did! My heart was fluttering, especially when he tempted me by biting his bottom lip in front of me, and I couldn’t stop myself.
He said, “I miss you so badly.”
