I was hoping for something more sensual and intimate between us, but all I got was a disappointment. Dominic gradually distanced himself from me after the restroom episode.
He’s probably on a conference call or reading most of the time. He couldn’t spare time to talk to me, which irritated me! I wanted to visit him every day, but Dom made it impossible.
Furthermore, I couldn’t understand why I was missing him when we were both living in the same house! Is it true that my feelings for him have become uncontrollable? We met in the corridor one day after exiting our bedrooms at the same time. Dom’s indifference to me was vexing. I grabbed his arm and halted him as he walked past me.
“Dom, what are you up to?”
Dominic shifted his gaze from my delicate hand on his arm to me. He said, “I’m doing the right thing, Marian.”
“Like ignoring me?” I’d rather leave Dom if you keep acting like this.” I gave him an ultimatum because my frustration had reached a peak and I was already stressed.
“How do you feel about our deal, Marian?” Remember how you chose to be a heroine?”
For starters, he’s a businessman, so writing an arrangement that benefits him was standard procedure. “How much?” I inquired, sighing in annoyance.
Dominic’s eyes furrowed at me, most likely because he was perplexed. “If you’re talking about your freedom, I’m telling you right now that you can’t afford it,” he answered, his voice filled with hatred.
“Try me,” I said, as though there was no assurance I’d be able to collect the money I needed to pay for my freedom. I waited for a reaction from him, but there was none, and he departed! I took a walk outdoors to get some fresh air before frustration ate me alive.
Dominic’s disinterest has grown worse with each passing day, and I’ve been stumped as to how to approach him without appearing cheap.
I should have been relieved that Dom didn’t push on it, but his apathy made me feel unattractive and undesirable. I wasn’t a sucker for his attention, but I was offended by his constant disregard for me.
I’d lie awake at night waiting for him to knock on my door, and I’d lose sleep! I wondered what had gotten into me recently and why I couldn’t stop thinking about him.
My mind wandered to my life before meeting Dom while strolling through the garden, and I concluded that there was no enjoyment in it. Yes, I was competitive, and I achieved several goals for my father and the company. I couldn’t think of anything else to do than make Richard Vera the proudest father on the planet.
I was so preoccupied with my thoughts that I didn’t notice Dom, who was already in the garden by the time I arrived at her location. I first noticed Dom when he cleared his throat. I lifted my brows at Dom and continued to ignore him.
I would have selected a different area to collect my thoughts if I had known he would also visit the garden. I scowled at the prospect of speaking to him politely once more since I would never do such a thing… ever!
“Hello, Marian,” Dom said as he greeted her with a wink.
After he winked, I rolled my eyes at him, and Dom burst out laughing and went away. He didn’t even give me a chance to respond to his hello, and he was always the first to leave.
How aggravating!
Dominic was only a few meters away, and instead of gathering my thoughts, I was distracted by his alluring body and grin.
I looked at Dom from time to time to see if he was staring at me, but it turned out he wasn’t! I was curious as to what kept his eyes riveted to his phone. I left the garden and went back inside the house when I couldn’t handle it any longer.
On my way to the library, I was on my way to pick up a book when I occurred to pass Dominic’s pub and had an idea. Because drinking with guys was sometimes necessary to seal a business, I had a high tolerance for alcohol.
When Dominic arrived, the bottle had already been opened. “Thank you!” I said this as I raised the bottle to my lips before taking a sip. Dominic was taken aback when he saw me drinking like an alcoholic.
He probably shuddered because he thought it was so crude and nasty. “What exactly is your issue?” He screamed at me as he snatched the beer from my grip.
“Do I have to have a problem drinking a beer?” cynically, I inquired. As he glanced at me, Dominic greeted me with his teeth.
“You’re obstinate, Marian. He said, “We’ll chat later.” It seemed like a statement, yet it sounded like a warning to me.
What has gotten into him that he is so enraged? For the love of God, I was only drinking an ice-cold beer! I decided to return to my room and nap when he left me alone in the bar. In any event, I left the door ajar so that he could get to me.
He didn’t come to check on me, unfortunately. I leaped from my bed as soon as I realized it was too late to make our dinner when I checked the time. I pulled my hair back into a ponytail and dashed into the kitchen.
When I passed by the dining hall, though, dinner was already on the table, and Dominic’s scowling countenance was waiting for me. I queried, “Did you hire a new cook?”
He said, “I cooked it myself,” and indicated for me to take a seat.
My nose was assailed by the perfume of grilled fish and pork, and I temporarily forgot about the scowling man on the other side of the table. I stuffed my plate with grilled delights, frustrated that I couldn’t face him right now.
As I bit into the well-marinated pork, I couldn’t help but look at him, who was completely engrossed in his meal. Meanwhile, I attempted to ignore the hushed man on the other side of the table and focused on my meal.
After seeing me wipe the corners of my lips, he inquired, “Are you done eating?”
I said, “Yes.”
I anticipated Dom to move on after supper, but he didn’t, as he usually does. I should take the initiative because he continued to be difficult and difficult to acquire!
I returned to the bar quietly to drink some more drinks. To complete my mission, I required some strength. Dominic walked into the pub about thirty minutes later, scowling at me.
“You’re inebriated!” He commented.
“Perhaps,” I said as I attempted to exit the pub, but the world around me began to swirl. I clung to the counter for support, but Dominic was quick to catch me before I fell.
“I warned you not to drink much, but you’re so obstinate!” I didn’t expect him to appear out of anywhere to catch me.
I swayed while walking as if I were inebriated for him to carry me back to my room. He did, however, merely keep her arm steady until we got to my room. Before he went, he assisted me into my bed and shut off the lights.
I said to him, “Please stay.”
He debated remaining for a moment, but then he murmured, “Next time, Marian.”
