Aimee finished eating her food, took out a tissue to wipe her mouth, and looked at Casey as she spoke. She said, “Everyone has the right to choose their likes and dislikes. You don’t have to complain about it. Its existence has nothing to do with my life.”
After speaking, Aimee stood up, intending to return to her room to check on the situation regarding Lasnain.
Casey, feeling humiliated, suddenly stood up, blocking Aimee’s path, and bluntly said, “Hey, do you realize that you and Pat are not meant to be? You’re not qualified to be my sister-in-law at all.”
Aimee didn’t feel provoked by Casey’s words and simply looked at the pampered girl with a half-smile.
She replied, “You don’t need to discuss this with me, but you need to understand that I am still his wife. If you don’t want to be seen as ill-mannered, you’d better treat me as your sister-in-law.”
After speaking, Aimee gently pushed Casey aside and walked out of the dining room.
Casey stomped her feet in anger, feeling resentful.
Riley came out of the kitchen and saw Casey in this state.
He patted Casey’s shoulder helplessly and earnestly said, “Please don’t be biased against her. She is a good person. If you give her a chance, you’ll see that she and Mr. Hayden are a perfect match.”
“Why are you saying all this, Riley?” Casey looked at Riley angrily, feeling dissatisfied with him siding with Aimee so much.
Riley smiled and replied, “You can see that your grandfather likes her very much. Besides, she has been staying at Hayden’s Mansion for some time now. Have you heard Mr. Hayden expressing any dissatisfaction with her?”
“But Pat can’t move.” Casey retorted, displeased.
She could guarantee that if Pat were still his normal self, like before, he would have kicked Aimee out of Hayden’s Mansion.
Riley said, “Then think about it. Why wouldn’t Miss Barr be able to join our family?”
“That’s why I told you not to let her in,” Casey said, raising her chin confidently.
Riley responded, “Okay, Miss, listen to me. You don’t have to like her right away, but you need to understand that how far Mr. Hayden and she goes is their business, not anyone else’s. It’s not about whether you think she’s worthy or not. What matters is their mutual love. You don’t want to make Mr. Hayden unhappy because of your lack of understanding.”
“I get it. You’re just taking her side and mentioning Pat. Riley, you’ve changed,” Casey muttered, still dissatisfied.
She sat back at the dining table, angrily biting into her bread.
Riley looked at Casey’s aggrieved expression helplessly but decided not to say anything more. He couldn’t help but sense that Aimee was not someone to be trifled with. If Casey provoked her now, Casey might end up getting hurt.
After Aimee returned to her room, she took out her mobile phone and began checking various information.
Since Matilda hung up the phone last night, there had been no news.
Fortunately, she did receive updates about Asa and Kareem.
Asa was fine. Being a citizen in Lasnain and coming from a noble family there, he was protected, and no one in Lasnain dared to harm him. If his family couldn’t completely be eliminated by them, they would have to face the cruel revenge, which was something not everyone could handle.
Therefore, although Asa had some minor injuries on his face, they were not serious.
Kareem was utterly miserable. Every inch of his body bore the marks of brutality. His clothes hung in tatters, blood gushed from his wounds, and his face was disfigured with a twisted mouth and squinted eyes. Breathing was all he could manage.
The truth was clear to them-they could never extract any information from Asa.
Their last hope rested solely on Kareem.
But anyone working for Aimee had a purpose.
Even if it meant death, they would never utter a word they shouldn’t.
Aimee watched Kareem endure such wretchedness, her anger welling up inside. She yearned to fly to Lasnain at once and strike a fatal blow against those responsible.
However, she couldn’t act impulsively.
Aimee wasn’t the type to hide behind her partners. Though she couldn’t confront them directly, she could still accomplish things from a distance.
Aimee swiftly began investigating the group’s information.
The investigation revealed a formidable force aligned with Lasnain, planning a terrorist attack on the Lasnain Congress.
Aimee uncovered their plan through her investigation.
As she perused the detailed information on her screen, a sneer played across her face.
These people had no fear of death.
Their audacious goal was to blow up the Lasnain Congress during a crucial meeting. If successful, it would claim the lives of nearly all the high-ranking officials.
Aimee discovered that they possessed a weapon capable of leveling an entire city.
However, Aimee cared little for the fate of Lasnain’s officials.
What she knew all too well was that Kareem’s life was hanging by a thread if he wasn’t rescued soon.
As for Asa, Aimee now understood that their fearlessness wasn’t due to the power of the Wells family, Asa Wells’. Rather, after the Congress was obliterated, they intended to support their own allies in rising to power, and they needed the backing of the most influential family.
The Wells family was the perfect candidate.
Aimee sneered at their audacity and ambition.
But what could she do?
Should she notify Lasnain’s leader in advance?
After pondering for half a minute, Aimee sent the information directly to Lasnain’s leader, Mr. Smith.
She wasted no time on pleasantries, presenting her request directly-rescue Asa and Kareem, and in return, she would provide a method to defend against the impending attack.
Aimee was confident that Mr. Smith would agree.
With Lasnain’s power, engaging in a direct confrontation would only result in losses on both sides.
Moreover, the consequences would be dire.
The method she could offer was discreet, allowing them to annihilate the enemy swiftly and silently.
