Seeing Patrick remain silent for a prolonged period, Camdyn frowned and inquired, “Pat, what’s on your mind? What’s the matter?”
Patrick looked at Camdyn and asked, “Grandpa, when is Dr. Dettlaff, the one you mentioned, arriving?”
“Pat, are you agreeing to the treatment?” Camdyn’s eyes welled up with tears of joy.
Patrick replied, “Didn’t I promise you before? Let him take a look.”
Camdyn exclaimed, “Yes, yes, as long as you’re willing to undergo treatment, Pat, it’s all good. However, Dr. Dettlaff’s schedule is very tight, and the earliest appointment we could secure is next month.”
“Next month?” Patrick raised an eyebrow. That happened to be the same time Aimee had planned for his surgery.
How interesting.
Perhaps Aimee was unaware that Camdyn had found Dr. Dettlaff, and he wondered if she would be angry when she found out.
Observing Patrick’s mischievous expression, Camdyn couldn’t quite grasp what he was thinking. “What’s the matter? Pat, do you think Dr. Dettlaff is coming too late?” Camdyn asked anxiously.
Camdyn had exhausted all his connections to invite Dr. Dettlaff, but the obstinate old man insisted on seeing the patients who had already made appointments before agreeing to come over. He didn’t give anyone special treatment.
Although Camdyn had considered the idea of forcefully securing a spot for Patrick, he also believed in the principle that everyone was equal in the face of illness. Despite his deep concern for his grandson’s condition, he couldn’t truly ignore other patients. He had to patiently wait his turn.
Now, Patrick’s expression made Camdyn very uneasy.
In case Patrick felt that the wait was too long and refused to proceed with the treatment, what should Camdyn do? How could he convince Patrick?
But Patrick glanced at Camdyn, feeling helpless at his worry.
He said, “Grandpa, don’t worry. I won’t go back on my word since I promised you.”
Camdyn felt relieved upon hearing this and said, “I’m truly glad to hear you say that, Pat. I’ve heard that Dr. Dettlaff is incredibly skilled, and he has reportedly cured patients with conditions similar to yours. Although their situations may not have been as severe, I believe he should be able to cure you.”
Patrick remained silent, wanting to see Aimee’s reaction when she learned about it.
When Aimee woke up, it was already close to noon.
When she checked the time, she couldn’t help but pause for a moment.
It had been a long time since she had slept for such a duration.
As she emerged from her room and encountered Riley, Aimee felt a tinge of embarrassment and said, “Riley, is there anything to eat right now?”
She woke up feeling incredibly hungry today.
It wasn’t yet time for the Hayden family’s lunch, so Aimee wasn’t sure if she could eat at this moment.
Upon hearing her request, Riley promptly replied, “Yes, yes, Mr. Hayden has the kitchen ready for you so that you can eat whenever you wake up.”
Aimee momentarily froze, then asked with suspicion, “You mean Patrick?”
“Yeah,” Riley smiled and confirmed, “He said you worked hard last night and asked us to take good care of you.”
Aimee’s heart skipped a beat upon hearing this, and an ominous premonition stirred within her.
What did Patrick mean by that?
What did he know?
Sitting at the dining table, Aimee remained lost in thought, so much so that she didn’t even notice when she took a bite of lemon, which instantly made her pucker from the sourness.
Finally snapping out of her reverie, Aimee angrily bit into the beef, already grumbling about Patrick in her mind.
That guy just didn’t know how to do something properly.
With Aimee’s sour reaction to the lemon, it seemed to sour her mood towards all the ingredients.
Observing Aimee’s response, Riley asked suspiciously, “Don’t you like sour food?”
“Yeah, Riley, no more lemons for me,” Aimee replied.
After speaking, Aimee seemed wary of biting into another lemon, so she pushed the steak away.
Just then, Casey’s voice echoed from a distance, “Riley, what deliciousness are you preparing? It smells amazing.”
“Would you like some?” Riley asked.
Riley always treated Casey like a doting grandfather. Despite knowing that Casey had a somewhat delicate temperament, he loved her dearly.
Upon hearing the offer, Casey eagerly nodded and exclaimed, “Okay, okay, I want to eat.”
The steak prepared by Riley himself was Casey’s absolute favorite. She had never tasted such a delicious steak anywhere other than Hayden’s Mansion.
However, as she walked through the corridor and caught sight of Aimee sitting at the dining table, her excitement dwindled.
Angrily, she questioned, “Why are you here?”
Aimee glanced up at her and smiled, replying, “What do you think?”
Casey felt a lump in her throat and rolled her eyes at Aimee, saying, “Don’t tell me you just woke up and decided to become a daughter-in-law in our family. It’s outrageous that you slept in until this time.”
Aimee didn’t bother to pay attention to her and continued to enjoy the steak, finally eradicating the sour taste in her mouth.
Casey noticed that Aimee was ignoring her and wanted to say something when she saw Riley bringing the steak, accompanied by sauce prepared to her taste.
“Well… this is the flavor I love. It’s so delicious. Riley, I adore you,” Casey exclaimed, blowing a kiss to Riley.
Riley playfully caught Casey’s air kiss, fully expressing his indulgence towards her.
Casey took two bites in quick succession and then realized that the lemons had been pushed far away by Aimee.
Frowning, she asked Aimee, “Hey, don’t you like lemons?”
Aimee raised an eyebrow, glanced at her, and ignored her.
Casey grew even angrier, fostering a deeper resentment towards Aimee.
“Lemons are so delicious. Why aren’t you eating them?” Casey stared at the lemons pushed away by Aimee, feeling distressed.
She looked at Aimee, perceiving her as an uncultured person who didn’t know how to appreciate good food.
