Chapter 35 I can handle it

Book:Marry A Disabled Man Published:2024-6-1

Aimee, not in a hurry to go home, found a coffee shop and settled into a private room. She took out her mobile phone and began hacking into the coffee shop’s system, disabling the surveillance in the room. Once done, she focused on her phone, determined to gather as much information about the safe as possible. She remembered that the safe had a self-explosion device that would activate if it wasn’t opened within a certain time frame. The explosion would be extensive, attracting unwanted attention from higher authorities.
Aimee couldn’t afford to take such a risk, so she needed to figure out how to open the safe before Matilda’s plane landed. However, the more information she gathered, the more anxious she became. According to the available information, it seemed like an unsolvable puzzle.
In frustration, Aimee angrily threw her phone onto the table and took a sip of her cold coffee. It seemed there was no other method to open the safe. She could have chosen to change Matilda’s course, heading to an uninhabited island and discarding the safe into the sea to prevent it from exploding upon entry into the country. But Aimee wasn’t willing to do that.
The contents of the safe were crucial to Patrick’s treatment. Without them, she could still heal him as before, but it would take much longer, and Patrick would have to endure more pain. Aimee didn’t understand why she was so fixated on obtaining that medication. She simply wanted to cure Patrick quickly, to alleviate his suffering.
Fuming with anger, Aimee ordered another cup of coffee, even though she rarely drank it, especially such bitter and pure black coffee. The waiter gave her a strange look, concerned about the effect it might have on her body.
“Miss, why not try a different coffee? Drinking too much of this kind might give you heart palpitations,” the waiter suggested.
Aimee clenched her teeth and replied, “No, I need something to wake me up.”
Seeing Aimee’s determination, the waiter left with the order without saying anything more.
When the coffee arrived, Aimee downed it in one gulp. She almost never drank coffee, let alone such a bitter one, but the bitterness helped suppress her anger. She had ordered it to deceive others, but in her moment of rage, she had lost control and resorted to coffee to calm herself.
Despite having two cups, Aimee didn’t experience the heart palpitations the waiter had warned about. Instead, the bitter taste intensified her already sour mood. She made up her mind to buy some macarons later to counteract the lingering bitterness.
Picking up her phone again, Aimee continued tapping on the screen until she finally found a solution. A faint smirk formed on her lips, and a hint of mockery flickered in her eyes. The inventor of the safe was clever, using this particular trick. They probably believed that by providing such a method to open the safe, people would assume it was difficult to open and, in their attempts, would overlook the most unconventional line of thinking.
Aimee sent the detailed instructions to Matilda, stating, “Land on the uninhabited island in ten minutes. Open the safe according to the method I sent you, retrieve the item, and throw the safe into the sea. Then, fly back.”
She emphasized, “Remember, you have only five minutes to complete the task. Don’t make any mistakes. Follow all instructions within that time.”
Reading Aimee’s message, Matilda grew nervous. She understood the gravity of the situation. If she failed to open the safe, retrieve the item, and get the plane airborne within five minutes, the explosion at sea would undoubtedly have consequences for her.
Matilda quickly jotted down the operation method and sent a reassuring message to Aimee, assuring her that she could handle it. Aimee didn’t interfere with Matilda’s progress, knowing that it was now a race against time until Matilda successfully flew away from the uninhabited island.
Aimee had unwavering trust in Matilda’s abilities and believed that she would accomplish the mission. However, the worry still lingered within her. Matilda was the person who had been with Aimee the longest, having been involved in every aspect of Aimee’s journey thus far. Their connection went beyond comprehension and surpassed that of anyone else. Matilda was like another life to Aimee, and any harm that befell her would be unforgivable.
Finally, as time ticked away, Aimee found herself in agonizing anticipation until she received a message from Matilda: “It’s done, add money.” Aimee smiled, finally able to relax. Without hesitation, she immediately transferred the money to Matilda and soon received a gratitude-filled emoji in response. Aimee playfully reminded Matilda to keep working hard since the task hadn’t been fully completed yet.
On the plane, Matilda read Aimee’s message and couldn’t help but roll her eyes. Aimee’s remark meant that she should understand that Patrick hadn’t been cured yet and needed to continue putting in effort. Matilda truly wanted to tell Aimee that she didn’t actually want Patrick to be cured. From what she knew, Patrick was a dangerous man, and she wasn’t sure if his recovery was a good thing or not. However, Matilda understood Aimee well enough to know that she wouldn’t listen to such words.
All Matilda could do was support Aimee and assist her in whatever ways she could, especially when it was inconvenient for her to be present. Matilda glanced at the auction item, finding it absurd that such a piece of “crap” was being valued at 1. 6 billion.
