Feeling a little uncomfortable, she glanced else where though Harley didn’t notice Ace was holding her hand. Ace frowned slightly as she stared ahead without glancing at him for a second time like she always did.
“attention all men and women!” The announcer yelled out as he stood on the small platform. “This year’s competition will be an all man’s battle! This means that the alpha will be the last man standing!”
The crowd roared out in thirst as they clasped their hands and stomped their feet while grunting in cheer. Hope glanced in amusement at the crowd and the energy they were radiating, they were clearly dying for some action.
“So, with further a-do, let the ceremony begin!” the announcer yelled out before running off the platform as the competitors began to transform into their werewolves. Hope searched the field for Jason and spotted him almost instantly, he clenched his fists and gritted his teeth as he transformed into a large vicious brown beast. His fangs already drawled with saliva as he growled menacingly, clearly surpassing the rest of the werewolves that also growled at him.
Without giving his opponent closest to him to think, he quickly lunged forwards and forcedly brought his head into the side of him, causing the werewolf to fly across the ground, rolling a couple of times before it actually stopped.
Before Jason could turn even his eyes, an opponent leaped from behind tackling him to the ground within seconds. About to review a nasty bite to the shoulder, he was saved by a hair’s breath as another opponent leaped over him and tackled the one pressing him down to the ground.
Jason without a moment’s hesitation got up and lunged for his opponents, trying his best to knock as many of them out as possible with the techniques he had gotten from sparing with Kelvin.
Though, despite his endless training, his opponents also his age didn’t seem to want to fail their only chance to become alpha. They gave it their all, using up all the power they had in every hit they made on their opponent, making it hard for Jason to get an easy win.
“Wow, he’s pretty good, right?” Ace asked with a chuckle as he glanced down at Hope who nodded excitedly.
“he’s amazing!” she exclaimed in amusement. “so aggressive, he could be a good spar mate!” she chuckled out as she clasped her hands together and cheered on with the crowd.
Emily couldn’t resist a smile at Hope’s words to the man she loved. She moved her eyes to the field and watched as Jason’s beastly form fought triumphantly against the others.
A few others at this point had been knocked out cold and were lying unconsciously on the ground as the survivors fought mercilessly.
“Hope.” Ace called as Hope grinned out at the battle in front of her, clearly overly excited about it. “Hope?” the moment she heard the mention of her name, she glanced towards him with raised brows. “What’s going on?” he asked as a deep frown made it’s way to his lips.
“what do you mean?” she asked as she glanced back to the field.
“you’re more… distant. As though… You don’t want to take to me any more. Did I do something wrong?” he asked as he held onto her hand more tightly than before while staring her in worry.
She sighed out and shook her head in denial as she stared down at their laced fingers. She took in a sharp breath and let it out shakily as she reached her free hand over to the one Ace was holding. She grabbed his fingers gently and unlaced their hands from each with a deep frown as she glanced up at him now, staring into his eyes.
“Ace…. I-.”
“This is a ceremony, we shouldn’t talk about other things now.” Harley pointed out as he interrupted their conversation.
“no, I want to know.” Ace shook his head in denial as he folded his arms to his chest and stared down at Hope with a rather serious expression on his face, startling both Hope and Harley who knew that he meant business.
“okay.” Harley sighed as he stood up and nodded his head towards the door, leading towards the mansion and away from the crowd. Ace clenched his jaw uneasily before reluctantly getting up.
Kelvin and Hope watched as Harley and Ace walked away, both of them knowing too well that it wasn’t going to end well.
Harley stopped just a small walk from the field and behind a small house just so they were blocked from the crowd and that Hope wouldn’t see them.
Ace sighed out as he leaned against the wall of the building and glanced down at Harley who ran a nervous hand through his hair.
“What is it?” Ace asked coldly as he watched Harley bit onto his lower lip.
“Okay…” Harley sighed out. “don’t take this wrongly but… Hope and I… kissed, a lot yesterday and-.” Before Harley could even finish his sentence, the hard and brutal feel of Ace’s fist dug into his cheek, causing his head to swing back and throw him off balance, forcing him to fall back to the ground underneath.
Harley flinched in terrifying pain as he reached up and held his cheek, feeling the spot his fist touch pulse a little.
“You promised….” Ace said in a mummer as he glared towards the ground with clenched teeth. “you said you would leave her alone!”
“I’m sorry!” Harley yelled out and sighed while storming his cheek. “I thought so too but… she came into my room last night and kissed me…. She said she was afraid that of I fell for Anna, then I would disappear from her life. But then… she said after the kiss that she discovered she was in love with me. I remembered the promise but… I really love her.”
“I love her too!” Ace hissed out as he glared at him. “but you promised you would step back, yet here you are, trying to take her from me.”
“that’s not it…” Harley frowned deeply as Ace squeezed his eyes shut in anger. “I get very powerless against her. I wanted to stop but… I couldn’t. I’m deadly in love with her and I want to apologize, but I can’t let he go, not after she admitted to me last night.”
Ace clenched his jaw even tighter as he stared at Harley who stared back at him with a sad yet serious face as well.
