Harley glanced up to her, completely taken aback as she stared down at him with hopeful eyes with a glimmer of admiration.
When he noticed she wasn’t joking, he glanced away and back to her wound, swallowing a lump that formed in his throat from the sudden announcement.
“Uh…” he cleared his throat as he glanced around the back into her bright deep yellow eyes. They were feline shapes with long lashes to complement her entire beauty. There was no doubt she was dangerously beautiful, but Harley’s heart belonged to Hope. “I also believe in soulmates but… we’ve just met and-.”
“Soulmates can fall in love at first sight.” She said a she clenched onto her dress more tightly.
Harley glanced back down to her bruises leg that he successfully cleaned off the dried blood. He reached into the first aid box and pulled out a box of bandages, pulling a few from it and began to place each bandage on her bruises.
“what made you think I’m your soulmate when I haven’t done anything?” he asked quietly as he tapped the bandages softly to secure it.
“you treated me with care.” She smiled out as she stared down at him admirably. “it just made me feel fall in love with you. After Zack hurt me over and over, meeting a man such as yourself that cares about a stranger like me can’t give me any other reason not to fall in love with you.” She sighed out in admiration as she watched him still pay her bruises.
“What if I’m just being nice because I have to?” He asked as he slowly glanced up to her. “you don’t really know who I am.”
“I can tell through your eyes that you are caring from the inside.” She said only to have him glance away again. “you don’t have a mate, so why can’t you accept me?”
“we’ve only just met…. I can’t just… say yes.” He chuckled out as he got up from the ground with a needle and thread from the box. “I know Zack mistreated you, but just because I care about you now doesn’t mean I’m good for you. I’m just being nice because you were hurt.”
“the other men threw me to the ground… but you helped me up.” She said as she glanced down to her hands. “how can I not…. Fall for that?”
“… you shouldn’t just love someone for that.” He whispered as he sat beside her. “you’ll only hurt yourself when he becomes someone you don’t know.”
She remained quiet as he stared at her palms, tracing a finger along the outlines of her palm while she hesitated to speak more.
“I’ve seen you before.” She whispered, grabbing his attention. “when I was ten. You sneaked out of your pack walls just to help a deer that injured its left back leg. I don’t know how you did it but you made it walk again because you visited it every single day to feed it and try to treat its leg, and when it did, it left without even telling you goodbye and you became sad. But then you had your own little shadow who kept following you around. I didn’t know who it was but I assumed it was your cousin or sister.”
“… my sister…” he sighed out shakily as he glanced towards the ground. “yeah, she… um… passed away, a while back.”
“Oh sorry.” She widened her eyes in shock as she stared at him. “I’m sorry. I didn’t notice because I stopped following you after the deer left. I was just curious to know if you could heal it.” She pressed her lips together as she noticed his silence. “so since I know you’ve always been so caring, it only made me fall for you even more.” She said as she reached over and held his hand, getting him to gasp silently at the touch. “don’t worry, I’m very fragile when it comes to falling in love with someone. I’m an easy prey, I won’t force you to love me, it will happen naturally.” She smiled widely, getting him to raise his brows in question.
He had said something very similar to what she said to Hope.
“Ahem.” He cleared his throat as he held up the needle. “let me stitch your deep cuts before you get sick.” He chuckled as she nodded and turned fully towards him, since it was on her chest.
He gently pricked the needle through her skin, getting her to flinch and groan out a couple of times with him whispering that he was sorry and that it might take a while before he was done.
After a good five minutes had passed, Harley was fully done with the stitching her deep wounds. He quickly rinsed it of with spirit and cleaned it all up.
“That feels better.” She chuckled a she patted her chest where he placed on a much bigger bandage.
“I don’t have girlie clothes….” He said as he got into the van and reached for his bag, pulling out his oversized black golf shirt and some shorts that were a little tight on him.
However, Hope used to love wearing them whenever she had to spend the night in her room. They were almost her only favourite cloth she could find from him.
“here, you can try these on.” He said as he handed them to her. She nodded and stepped into the van as he stepped out.
She instantly pulled her dress off, revealing a large bare chest, causing Harley to chock out as he glanced away sharply.
“In form me next time.” He sighed out a she smiled while pulling on the shirt.
“sorry.” She pouted her lips with a chuckle as she then pulled on the shorts before stepping out of the van. She smiled as he glanced down to her and inspected the outfit. “how do I look?” she asked as she stretched out the fabric of the shirt a little.
“it’s okay.” He simply smiled with a small nod of his head. “come on, since you came here to steal our food, you might as well eat something. They could be done cooking by now.”
“you’re right, I’m very hungry…” she smiled as she patted her stomach slightly.
