“I didn’t know about it…” she jammed as she glanced around uneasily, chewing onto the insides of her mouth as she laced and unlaced her nervous fingers, feeling Jason’s stare on her. “I didn’t know I was…”
“So who’s the father?” Her mother asked as she gently massages her daughter’s wrists, feeling the slight excitement fill her entire body at the slightest thought of finally having a grandchild despite being only forty five. Since she hadn’t really given birth to Emily, she was still excited to be a grand mother at a young age.
“um…” she smiled slightly as she glanced towards Jason for a moment, only to have him look else where slowly. She then shifted her gaze towards Kelvin instead who lowered his gaze to the ground. “it could be Kelvin. We uh… mated a month back…” she cleared her throat as she glanced down at her fingers.
“that’s great news!” her mother exclaimed in joy, clasping her hands together with a wide grin on her face. “honey, do you hear this!?”
“yes I do!” her father grinned out as he stood at the foot of the bed she was on and glanced down at his daughter, finally feeling proud. “we will have grand children!”
“And a lot more!” her mother giggled in joys as she covered her mouth with her hands, not wanting to be too loud. “how many do you plan on having?” she asked as she glncedt towards Kelvin and Emily. “Seven right!?”
“…. Seven?” Kelvin chocked on nothing but air at the number of kids the mother was aiming to have Emily push out of her.
Emily pressed her lips together as she furrowed her brows at the number as well, feeling very uncomfortable.
“Not seven, seven is a few, at least nine right?” she asked with wide hopeful and pleading eyes. Just begging her daughter to agree with the number of children she wanted her to have. “we if you’re worrying about taking care of all of them, I can help you. In fact, I can raise most of them for you and you won’t feel even any kind of pre-,”
“honey, she will think about it on her own with Kelvin.” Her father chuckled out as he watched his wife practically begging for a truck load of babies.
He could only understand his wife’s desperation for a large number of grand children. It’s only because she wasn’t able to have some of their own to raise from an infant stage until adulthood. However, despite the loss in children, she was still glad to call Emily her daughter and always knew she was a blessing to them from the moment he picked her up in the forest.
“My child is now a woman.” Her mother chuckled out breathlessly as tears moistened her eyes whilst holding onto Emily’s wrist. “I’m so proud of you.”
“Thank you.” Emily chuckled out as she stared at her mother who reached out and hugged her. Wrapping her arms around her daughter’s body with warm tears running down the sides of her cheeks as she brought her daughter to her chest, hugging her tightly.
“now that we have such good news, I was planning on retiring once and for all. I do not plan on spending the rest of my grandchildren life ruling a pack. Besides, I’m a very grown man. Fifty years is no joke.” He chuckled out as he glanced towards Kelvin who rose his brows in question, a bit confused to why he was suddenly staring at him. “we will hold a competition for the next alpha, Kelvin can participate with willing candidates and when he does become alpha, then the better.” He explains as he flashes Kelvin a wide grin getting Jason to clench his jaw as he glanced down to the ground.
“I’ve never fought before.” Kelvin chuckled lowly as he stared at Emily’s father. “I don’t think I can win so suddenly.”
“Jason will train you. Muscle does not always win the game. Even tactic can made a weaker person achieve great things.” Her father shrugged as he watched Kelvin nod unsurely. “now that I have mentioned the competition, I want to announce that there will be visitors from the Grallen pack on the day of the competition with will make this an even greater ceremony.”
“what are they coming for?” Emily asked as she rose her brows in question.
“They have a large pack but their harvest and animal count is just too little for the great winter we will be having soon. As you all know, we will have a longer winter than most.” He explains as he glanced over to Jason who straightened his back. “we have more than enough to sustain through the winter but they had a rogue problem and bad water the past months which had them fall back on their budget. They sent their new alpha and beta, Hope and Harley. They aren’t much trouble so don’t worry about it. We already agreed on how much they will have to take so you don’t need to concern yourselves with that. But, as we are getting a new alpha, I will leave the agreement to the new alpha who will have to check if our food with worth sharing and if we won’t starve. I simply agreed, it’s up to you to research.” He was mostly talking to Kelvin, having the thought and idea he was the right replacement for him as alpha.
Besides, he’s his son-in-law and husband to his daughter.
“How many will they be and how long will they stay over for?” Gemini asked as she got up from the bed and glanced to her husband, Valentine.
“not sure about the stay, but they should be about twenty of not less than that.” He nodded slowly. “eitther way, Jason-,” he turned towards Jason who rose his brows. “I need you to assemble the top ranked guards to stand on guard when our visitor’s arrive. We haven’t been communicating with them for a long time so please be alert.” He instructed and Jason nodded slowly. “they’ll be here in two days time.”
