“Did you say pregnant?” Her mother asked in shock. as she stared at the doctor with wide unbelieving eyes. Her entire body shaking from the sudden surprise announcement.
Her father blinked blankly as he also stared at the doctor who had a wide grin plastered on her face, excited to tell the Alpha and Luna the great news. But after watching their shocked expressions for a moment, she suddenly had a feeling that she wasn’t supposed to tell them before asking Emily about it.
She was in fact supposed to ask the patient before delivering the news to the caretakers. Mostly because other news were more sensetive to the patient and needed to be kept hidden from the others. But this time she was just excited to tell her alpha and Luna the great news that she couldn’t hold back her excitement.
“Oh… yes.” The doctor cleared her throat as she glanced at Kelvin who gave her a horrid expression. She then shifted her gaze towards Jason who glanced away, looking rather uncomfortable as he rocked his body on his own toes whilst biting onto his lower lip. “she is in fact pregnant.” If she had already pointed it out, there was no going back. “she lost weight because of the fetus development, others may become very hungry during these stages and she seems to be at least three weeks pregnant. Her weightloss isn’t because of this but because she has not had much to eat the past days and that caused her to lose consciousness after feeling light-headed.”
“I really do notice she didn’t eat much these days, but that’s because she wasn’t as open as she was before so we didn’t want to pressure her. We thought she was just having a hard time coping with the entire mating problem.” Her father said as he stared at the doctor worriedly, trying to explain their part of the story when the doctor frowned at them.
“that must mean she’s under anxiety and stress. It’s very bad for pregnant women to experience such emotions during their pregnancy period because it causes miscarriages.” She explained, getting both parents to clench their jaws uncomfortably as they glanced at each other in worry.
“Kelvin.” Emily’s mother asked as he turned her gaze from the doctor and towards Kelvin who rose his brows high in question. Almost not wanting to hear what she had to say. “did you know about this?”
“Um…” he stammered as he glanced around awkwardly, not knowing whether he should say yes or disagree with it and claim he didn’t know until now. The first option would have them think both Kelvin and Emily had accidentally had a child and we’re afraid to announce it without a wedding preparation, and the last option would have them ask her if she ended up claiming she knew and he knew, he would be considered a liar. “I didn’t know… until now. I just thought she was like that.” He explained as he s watched the back of his head. “I’m really surprised…”
“did you two ever mate?” her mother asked as she widened her eyes at the two, getting Kelvin to clear his throat uncomfortably as he looked away. Not knowing if he had to lie about it or agree with it and have it used agaisnt him when they ask her about it.
“yes.” And yet he still decided to lie so much, getting Jason to glance at him in surprise, mostlt because he did not expect it to accept it after all the complaints about him being forced into something he didn’t want to be a part of in the first place. ” A month ago…”
“Are you sure?” her mother asked and sighed out in relief as she placed a hand over her chest. “For a second, I was thinking it might belong to Jason.”
Kelvin chuckled mildly as Jason stared at him in bewilderment. Jason shifted his gaze to her parents and a slight frown made its way to his lip, knowing too well he would have to tell them one way or the other because Kelvin made it clear to him that he did not want to take the risk of pretending to be in love…
“is she awake?” her father asked as he glanced back at the doctor who rose his brows in question before smiling out slowly wieth a small nod of the head.
“she is wife awake right now. You can step in to see her.” The do for chuckled out as she stepped aside to let the family through.
Her mother stepped in first before her father who followed in second. Both emerging into the room silently only to spot their daughter, Emily, who was sitting silently on the bed, playing with her fingers as she stared at her laps after listening to what they had been talking about, since it was just behind the door and she couldn’t help but listen in on it.
“Emily, are you okay?” her mother asked as she smiled weakly, keeping her eyes focused solemnly on her daughter as she slept approrached the bed where Emily laid on.
Emily shifted her gaze from her fingers and towards her mother as her heart skipped a beat from fear and anxiety. After meeting her mother’s soft gaze, she felt the guilt build up inside her for not telling them anything about it when they were one of the few people she trusted.
“honey, why did you not tell us about this?” her father asked first as he approached her as well, standing behind her mother who stood close enough to her. Her mother reached out her hand to hers, lacing their fingers together as she frowned slowly, feeling a bit betrayed she didn’t explain about it to them. The way she felt and the sicknesses she was feelings. They wanted to know everything without her hiding such things.
She became a different person but they only thought giving her space was just enough to bring her back.
