“So what’s wrong with him?” Hope asked a she reconnected her eyes with Penelope’s angry gaze. Penelope sighed out, crossing her arms on her chest and glaring at Hope.
“He’s commuting suicide.” She said as though it was a casual thing to say, getting both Ace and Hope to gasp out in terror.
“What!?” Hope blinked panicky at Penelope who rolled her eyes.
“I didn’t mean literally. He’s just really drinking a lot of liquor and I’m not sure if he’s okay or his just trying to black out sooner or later.” She chuckled out as she watched Hope’s face slowly relax from the terror earlier. “He won’t tell me anything, so I cane to blame you for it and I was right. You were the reason he’s drinking himself to death. Not to mention, this new boy with you.” Penelope glared towards Ace who rolled his eyes.
“If anything, I should be the one pissed off with him and drinking myself to death. He said a lot of rude things to me if you have no idea.” Ace pointed out and Penelope rolled her eyes once more and waved her hand round.
“Are you going to cry about it now?” She asked as she eyed him from his feet to his eyes then back down in a mocking manner. “You don’t even seem that concerned.”
“It’s because I’m a man.” Ace rolled his eyes as he glanced elsewhere. “Harley is nothing but a child. Still a small boy that even cries when his friendship is over.”
“He’s stronger than you will ever be!” Penelope hissed as Hope furrowed her brows at the two before tapping against Penelope’s shoulder, catching her attention.
“Do you know where he is?” She asked as her sister slowly smirked. The smirk later formed a grin as Ace glanced at them both in question.
“He’s at your favourite garden.” She smiled out cheekily as she pointed towards the mansion. “If he asks, tell him you found him by yourself or he’ll kill me in the morning.” Penelope chuckled out lowly as Hope smiled with a small nod before turning to leave.
“Hey, wait up-”
“Oh no. You’re not going with her!” Penelope hissed out as she stretched her arms to the side to block Ace from moving any further as he was about to follow Hope.
“What’s wrong with you?” He asked, trying to get past her but she persisted.
“You are what’s wrong with me!” She hissed out and he frowned down at her as she glared up at him.
“You’re much shorter than Hope.” He pointed out as he reached up and patted her head, suddenly warming up at cheeks at the gesture. “I could jump over you if I wanted.”
“Don’t exaggerate, I’m not that short.” She frowned at him as he leaned back to the tree, hardly seeming as though he was going to follow Hope any more.
“You seem to like Harley.” He said as he stared down at her with a plain gaze. “Almost as though he’s special to you somehow.”
“I really like Harley.” She smiled as she glanced towards the ground. “He’s got good charisma, he’s always happy, he’s far much stronger than he thinks he is…. He’s always admired Hope so much that… I end up admiring him for it.”
“Almost sounds to me as though you love him.” Ace clicked his tongue against his teeth as he glanced up at the sky.
“I don’t love him.” She chuckled out as she gazed up at the sky as well. “It’s just that… Seeing Hope and Harley spend time together… Makes me wonder what kind of a couple they would be. I bet they would fall into actual love. That’s why I want them to see each other in that way. But they both seem so oblivious to it that it makes me worry if my hopes for them will ever come true.”
“You can’t force them.” Ace rolled his eyes as he reached out and flicked his finger at her forehead, causing her to flinch in pain as she stepped back and rubbed her paining spot. “You’re far more stupid than you look. Hope likes me better.”
“I won’t argue if that boosts your ugly ego.” She rolled her eyes as she glanced towards the crowd. “Hope can’t see the possibility of them both becoming more than just best friends. She’s never seen him that way. Either she chose not to or she’s blind to it. But Harley on the other had was easy for me to convince. All I had to do was make him believe he has some kind of feeling for her and it took a while but he ended I believing it.” She grinned as she nodded to her smartness.
“And if he really doesn’t, you’ll be responsible for their separation.” Ace stared down at her with a thin line of lips as she paused for a moment. “Despite just knowing him for today, I can tell he’s extremely protective of Hope and would always try to her on his side. If she wasn’t, she was glaring at me as though I’m the one pulling the strings on her.” He rolled his eyes as he lazily sighed out. “But before meeting them, there was something strange about them. Of course I could tell they were alpha and beta, but I couldn’t tell if they were married or just friends.”
“What do you mean by that?” Penelope rose her brows as her ears perked up to listen.
“Well…” He sighed out and clenched his fists. “They were walking really close together, it was a military tactic but I guess to Hope it mist have made her feel really uncomfortable when she turned and nearly kissed him by accident-”
“What!?” Penelope grinned out as she reached up and grabbed his arm, clenching her grip tighter as she gazed into his eyes with wide hopeful eyes. “They kissed didn’t they!?”
“Shut up and let me finish!” He hissed as he snatched his arm from her, getting her to chuckle. “She was blushing. And then I appeared to disturb the seemingly awkward moment.”
“She… Blushed at Harley!?” She sighed out admirably as she fanned her face with her hand, trying to be over dramatic. “That’s a start… That means she now sees Harley!”
“Ouch, hey, I like Hope as well-”
“It’s never been about you, silly.” She chuckled, reaching up to pinch his cheeks. Getting him to flinch and slap away her hands when she deliberately pinched harder. “It’s all about the H’s. If you break them apart I will rip you apart and devour your flesh.”
“What the hell is wrong with you?” He cringed his face as she grinned out with a wink.
“You.” She chuckled out.
