Chapter 37

Book:The Alpha King's Lust Published:2024-6-1

What’s wrong with you?” Kelvin asked as he studied Jason for a moment, only to get his questioning expression. “Aren’t you the least ashamed?”
“Ashamed of what?” Jason frowned as Kelvin clenched his jaw tightly. “Ashamed of stopping you?”
“Ashamed of using a girl who should be having her own marriage ceremony right now and not crying over a man who clearly isn’t interested.” Kelvin hissed as he glared into Jason’s eyes.
Jason took in a sharp breath and glanced away from him as he bit onto his lip, knowing too well he felt bad for Emily right then, but it wasn’t his fault either, he just did not expect that side of her that night.
“Look, Kelvin, I’m sorry I got in your way.” Jason began as he turned towards Kelvin who shot his glare away from him. “I know you’re angry about it and you feel ashamed for failing to have her. But I didn’t really expect that side of her last night to be frankly honest, she took me off guard.”
“That doesn’t give you the reason why you would end up going for it?” Kelvin asked and Jason sighed out, knowing Kelvin was just trying to cook up a fight with him.
“I know you’re mad. Why don’t you just go to Emily?” He asked as he glanced down to Kelvin. “She’s crying, you better go to her.” He walked away from Kelvin before he would say more.
Kelvin clenched his fists tightly before turning sharply and walking back into the gates.

Emily couldn’t help sobbing and sniffing as she clenched onto her knees, failing to contain her tears that continued to streak down her soft pink cheeks as she sat at the corner of her room refusing to believe it was true.
She didn’t know how hr was going to react to it and neither did she think he would accept it. Since he was her senior by many years, she had always fought the feeling of Jason returning the feelings she had for him. She always kept her attraction for him very well hidden and never told anyone about it.
He was the only man she had learnt to trust and love and being denied by him was a nightmare she did not want to live in. She would rather have it become a mere dream instead.
The soft knock on the door alerted her as she glanced towards the door with a thud in her chest. Half of her wishing Jason was knocking and the other half wishing it was not him. She did and did not want to hear his reason for rejecting her. Either she was ready for it or not. She was just very nervous.
“Can I come in?” Kevin’s voice echoed through the door and into the room, getting her to ease her shoulders as relief and disappointed mixed in filled her entire body.
“It’s not locked.” She said weakly before the ‘clunk’ sound of the door handle echoed the room. It wasn’t long until Kelvin peeped into the room, his eyes glanced around the room, searching to Emily until they landed on her at the corner. Concern immediately spread across his entire face as he stepped into the room and closed the door behind him.
“I thought you were right behind me?” Emily spoke softly through the rusty pipe of her throat as she watched him simply stand at the door, not sure if he should approach her or not.
“I had to ask him some questions before I did.” He nodded to his own answer as he furrowed his brows in worry
“Where they about me?” She asked as she curled her fingers into a fist, gripping onto her dress so tightly as she stared into his eyes with pain lingering hers.
He clenched his jaw as he watched her pained state, almost too unbearable to see as he recalled her story. He didn’t want her to be crying this much, not after what she had gone through.
“Someone of them, yeah.” He shrugged his shoulders with a small smile spreading across his face as he slowly walked to her. When he noticed she didn’t flinch at his movement, he continued until he knelt in front of her, still keeping a space between them just in case she suddenly reacts in realisation.
She watched him, noticing how careful he was now being, almost as though he assumed she was afraid of him. Like a snake trying to tell a baby bird that it wasn’t going to eat it. It didn’t irritate Emily or make her happy in the slightest that hr was keeping his distance. As a matter of fact, she was grateful he was respecting her fears.
“So what did you talk about?” Emily asked as she ran her fingers across her eyelids. Trying to remove the tears from her puffy red eyes. “I mean the things that were about me. What were you talking about?”
“I asked him if he felt ashamed for using you.” Kelvin sighed out as he glanced down at his laps and clenched his fists tightly, getting Emily to stare curiously at him.
“And he said…?” She waited patiently for the answer but he seemed resistant for a moment. Almost shaking from some kind of anger within him.
“He didn’t give me a straight answer instead he simply apologized.” Kelvin said through gritted teeth as he kept his gaze to the floor. “He humiliated me, used you and all he could simply do was apologize?” Kelvin chuckled out forcedly, still feeling the pain of his fathers insults at him after he had told his father that Emily rejected him. “He thinks apologizing will make things better just by saying it?” He clicked his tongue and Emily noticed he was beginning to boil.
This wasn’t about Jason using her. Kelvin must have gone through something.
“What happened to you…?” Emily asked as she stared at Kelvin’s shaking body. “What happened after you left the room?” She asked softly, knowing she had to at least calm herself down for now and listen to him as he had done for her. “Did something bad happen-”
“Yes….. Yes Emily.” He sighed out shakily as he further clenched his fists, digging his nails into his palm, turning them an instant red.
