“What are we doing here again?” Kelvin asked as Emily walked up to the front porch of Jason’s cabin, feeling her palms suddenly get sweaty from the thought of meeting him again when she should have just stayed home.
“You’re the one that followed me. You should have stayed.” She sighed out, as she clenched onto her fists from the fear of knocking onto the door.
“So aren’t you going to knock?” Kelvin asked, noticing her reluctance as she hesitated at the door. Constantly reaching out and drawing back a couple of times. He sighed out as he rolled his eyes, walking up the porch beside her. He stared down at her as she pouted her lips, still hesitating. “You really are helpless aren’t you Emily?” He sighed out and crossed his arms over his chest as he stared up at the door with a slight frown. “I’m arming you again, why do you like him so much?”
“Because he’s Jason.” She smiled to herself as she glanced down at her palm, feeling her cheeks turn red. “He’s really nice-”
“You really smile a lot when I asked you about him.” He chuckled as she looked away with a flushed face. “You look cute when you blush.” He reached out to grab her cheeks when she smacked his hands away, feeling more embarrassed as she turned from him, making him chuckle out. He turned back to the door and softly knocked against it, getting her to gasp out in terror.
“Don’t just knock!” She whimpered as she grabbed his arm and tried to pull him from it. “Let’s go back, I’ve changed my mind, come on.” She whined despite him hardly moving from her efforts. “Kelvin!”
“You wanted to talk to him, didn’t you?” He hissed out at her as she frowned. “Better talk to him now and get done with it already.” He sighed out, knocking again.
“Tomorrow. Let’s do this tomorrow.” She whined and he shook his head in denial as she tried to tag at him.
“I’ve already knocked. I’m not wasting my energy like that.” He sighed out when she frowned deeply.
“Fine, you’ll talk to him, I’m heading home.” She hissed out only to stop when the door opened, revealing Melanie who instantly glared down at Kelvin before Emily. She narrowed her eyes at Emily who raised her brows in question.
“What are you two doing here?” She asked with a rather bored tone as she returned her gaze towards Kelvin with raised brows.
“Why don’t you look yourself today?” He asked as he noticed her baggy under eyes and deep frown, as well as her roughed up hair. She completely looked terrible from her overall look.
“Well you tell me.” She rolled her eyes lazily and sighed out, folding her arms over her chest and glanced down at Emily who raised her brows in question. “Come on in. I’ll make you something to eat at least.” She sighed out as she stepped away from the door, allowing Kelvin and Emily to walk into the warm wooden cabin.
From the outside, it would seem like just as a standard house, but in actual sense, from the inside, there were countless wall decorations of pictures, seashells from their last trip to the beach, and countless pearls and expensive glass decors.
Jason wasn’t wrong about his wife’s love for money, she truly was obsessed with status and wealth. Even the furniture was of no doubt very expensive leather and design. The table was very smooth and made from black marble. The stools with it were made of black glass and smooth around the edges, complete perfect circles.
Kelvin threw himself onto the couch, groaning out as the relaxing couch took away the tension on his shoulders that he didn’t know he had. Emily sat on the same couch as him, since it was the largest and she still wasn’t comfortable with where she was at the moment. She felt that Melanie had a clue about last night that could explain her strong gaze on her all the time. Kelvin on the other hand, could only feel Melanie’s judgmental eyes, eyes that were mocking him of failing to be a man on the mating ceremony of an alpha’s daughter.
It wasn’t his fault, as much as he knew. Mostly because he didn’t really spend most of his life with the pack and didn’t know how things worked during mating ceremonies, nor did he know about Emily’s trauma. The only thing he could assume was that he failed to seduce her.
“So, what brings you here today?” Melanie asked as she reemerged with a tray of two hot steaming mugs of tea and a plate of home baked apple pie. She placed the tray onto the table and sighed a she threw herself back into the single arm chair. “Enjoy.” She waved her hands around.
Kelvin instantly reached out and grabbed the plate with the pie on it as Emily could only stare, since she had just eaten herself a while back. Kelvin might have also had his breakfast already, but she knew too well he was a food addict dispute how he looked.
“This is really good. You baked this Melanie?” Kelvin asked as he pointed at the pie, getting an annoyed glance from Melanie who shook her head in denial.
“Jason baked it. I don’t like baking.” She said smoothly, getting Emily to blush at the thought of Jason actually baking. She instantly grabbed a slice herself, taking a bite of the pie. Kelvin raised his brows at her when he knew too well she only ate because Jason baked it.
“It’s good.” Kelvin said again before leaning back. “You should let him teach you.” He teased as he took another bite. “Where is he by the way?”
“I don’t really know. Doing beta stuff maybe.” She clicked her tongue and clenched her jaw tightly as she glanced towards the fireplace under the TV. “How was he, Emily?” She asked as she glanced towards Emily who paused at her. Emily raised her brows in question as Kelvin cleared his throat and looked elsewhere. “I don’t mean Kelvin, Jason told me what happened between you two last night. So, how was he, Emily?”
