It was late at night in Azalea’s ward as she lay on the bed and fell asleep with her eyes closed.
Three of Azalea’s ribs were broken while one of her hands was handcuffed to the hospital bed. The policeman guarding her felt that there was no way she could escape, so he relaxed his guard.
The man who was arranged by Leonard’s assistant had been waiting for the right moment in the hospital. Then, they immediately entered the ward and attacked Azalea when they saw that the policeman had left. Just as they covered Azalea’s mouth and were about to suffocate her to death, a soft voice could be heard by the door of the ward. “Hey! Are you trying to silence her?”
The man turned his head and saw that Bobby were taking photos with his mobile phone while Silas was bent over in laughter.
Later, Leonard was woken up at 2 a. m. in the morning when Richard and his bodyguards came to visit him furiously.
Leonard had already guessed the purpose of Richard’s visit as soon as he saw him. He must have come because Azalea had stabbed Michael.
Richard sat down and got straight to the point, “I came to tell you that the person you arranged to kill Azalea had been caught.”
Leonard’s expression stiffened, but Richard tossed his phone to him before he could say anything, “Look! The murderer has confessed that the person who gave him orders was your assistant. He’s been arrested.”
Leonard picked up his phone and watched the video for a while, but he couldn’t refute it at all. “I can explain!”
“There’s no need for that! I know what you’re going to say, but Azalea tried to kill my sister yesterday. Michael was stabbed because he wanted to save Abbie, so in other words, you were the one who tried to kill Abbie.”
“I’m not… I just love her too much. I never thought of hurting her…”
Richard interrupted Leonard’s explanation directly. “Leonard Floyd, you can stop pretending because we all know who you truly are! You saved her because you wanted to make use of her. You threatened her with her child and even tried to make her have a miscarriage. You even gave her some medicine that could make her lose her memory so you can control her. How can you say that you love her after doing so many vicious things to her?”
The expression on Leonard’s face was extremely stiff. Richard had revealed Leonard’s sinister plans, and he couldn’t refute them at all.
Richard sneered and said, “Do you know why I tolerated you all this while? It was only because you saved my sister. No matter what you planned to do at that time, you did save my sister’s life. I’ve treated you well because of this fact and tolerated all of your vicious schemes.”
“However, my patience has run out. Leonard, I’m sure that you know exactly what happened yesterday. You’re a smart man. You must have taken everything into consideration when you approached Azalea, didn’t you?”
“I didn’t expect that Azalea would hurt Michael. It doesn’t matter whether you believe me or not, but my target has always been Michael. I arranged for Azalea to return and brainwashed her into hating Michael. I also prevented her from hurting Abbie, so I would ask my men to keep an eye on her whenever she went out. Michael was also there yesterday, so my men thought she would target him. If I knew that Azalea’s target was Abbie, I would never let such a thing happen.”
“I believe that your target is Michael, but it doesn’t change the fact that you made use of Abbie.” Richard sneered. “Leonard, I can tolerate you, but it doesn’t mean that others will do the same. Now the Davis family has caught your men, I can forgive you because you saved Abbie, but the Davis family will never.”
Of course, Leonard knew this as well, so he sighed and said, “I’m very sorry about Abbie. I did plan to use her initially, but I truly wanted to marry her after that.”
“Enough, Leonard. If you really want to marry her, you wouldn’t pretend to be William and sleep with Evelyn. You’ve been using Abbie all this time. She will never marry you. Your personal schemes have nothing to do with my family, and I won’t judge you for them. I came here today to discuss Michael.”
Leonard remained silent. Since the Clark family already knew his intentions, Richard would only look down on him more if he continued to explain.
“The Davis family has evidence of your murder. Although it was just an attempt, it’s enough for you to go to jail. You’re not in the United States anymore, so you can’t settle everything with money and a lawyer. You should know this, right?”
“How will the Davis family deal with me?” Leonard asked.
“The Davis family have gotten hold of your weakness, so it’s inevitable that they’re planning to destroy you. Wayne is going crazy because of what happened to Michael. You should know what Michael means to him, right? Fortunately, I persuaded Wayne after I found out about the situation. The Davis family promised to make a deal with me if Michael survives, but I can’t control what they’ll do if he really loses his life.”
“What does the Davis family want?” Leonard knew that he had no way out.
“They want you to leave immediately, and you are not allowed to come back for the rest of your life! You are also not allowed to have any business in this country.”
“This is too much!”
“Don’t you think you’ve gone too far? If I hadn’t agreed to let Emma claim her ties to the Davis family, Wayne wouldn’t have agreed to let you off the hook! After all, all of your crimes would’ve landed you in jail for twenty years. Leonard, you should know very well what that means, right?”
Of course, Leonard knew that he would lose all his connections if he stayed in prison for that long. He would also be too old to keep up with the market by then. At that time, the industry’s development would progress exponentially and he wouldn’t be able to start from scratch because no one would know who he was.
Richard reminded him, “The Davis family isn’t giving you much time. If I were you, I would leave as soon as possible. Michael is still in the ICU now, so whether he can make it out alive or not is another matter. If he fails to survive, you’ll have to live the rest of your life in misery!”
Leonard knew that Richard was telling the truth. His weakness was now held in someone else’s hands, so he would only be waiting for his doom if he didn’t leave now.
He was full of confidence when he arrived in the country, but he was leaving after he lost everything. He had suffered a great loss, but he had no other choice.
He sighed and said, “Okay, I’ll leave tomorrow morning! Can I see Abbie before I leave?”
Richard shook his head and said, “There’s no need for that! Abbie has regained her memory and knows what you’ve done to her. I don’t think there’s much for you to say even if you see her. By the way, she begged me to help you get out of here. She knows that you’re using her, but she has always been grateful to you for saving her life!”
A look of guilt flashed across Leonard’s face, and he knew that he was in too much shame to meet Abbie again. “I have another request. I don’t want Evelyn to give birth to my child, so I hope that you can give me a chance to deal with it.”
