When Michael saw the result, he was in a state of utter confusion and his mind was a mess.
This was the result he wanted, but he couldn’t believe it when he saw it with his own eyes.
Michael rubbed his eyes and suddenly jumped up when he stared at the result for a few moments.
He suddenly started laughing like a madman.
The staff at the appraisal centre looked at Michael as if they were looking at a maniac, but he couldn’t care less.
He immediately took the identification report and ran out. He was smiling as he ran and the corners of his eyes were moist.
When he got back into his car, he sat in the driver’s seat as he cried uncontrollably. He cried for the pain and suffering that Abbie had gone through and for his child. Moreover, he also cried because he had been kept in the dark all this time.
How could he be so foolish?!
Meanwhile, in the Davis family, Wayne was leaning against the sofa in the living room. The housekeeper served him some food and advised him, “Sir, you have to eat breakfast. It’s not good for your health.”
“I can’t eat!” Wayne waved his hand. Since Michael had told him that he had become infertile because of Francis, he seemed to have changed into another person.
Wayne lost his will to live and he fell into a state of depression. He felt a huge sense of regret, but he couldn’t tell anyone about it.
The butler knew that Wayne had something on his mind, so he advised, “If you have something to say, don’t keep it in your heart or you’ll feel depressed.”
“Michael won’t be able to have any descendants!” Wayne smiled bitterly. “It’s all because of my own selfishness. If I didn’t do that back then and allowed him to be with Abbie, their child would’ve grown up by now. I was the one who harmed him!”
“Sir, you didn’t want to do this either and you were doing it for your grandson. This is all Francis’ fault for being so vicious and shameless.”
“Don’t say that. The more you talk about it, the more guilty I feel. What’s the difference between me and Francis? Francs schemed against Michael because he wanted to control him, but I allowed Azalea to kill Abbie because I wanted to join hands with the Floyd family. Francis and I are the same!”
Wayne smiled bitterly and said, “That b*stard was punished for being greedy and despicable. In the end, the Gurney family went bankrupt. It’s my turn now and I deserve it!”
“Please be more open-minded. Your grandson is still young and medical technology is so advanced now, so there must be hope.” The housekeeper could only think of the positive aspects.
“It’ll be hard!” Wayneshook his head. “Michael must despise me so much! I hate myself too!”
The housekeeper said a few more words of advice before he heard the sound of a car engine from outside. A few minutes later, Michael appeared at the door of the living room.
Both Wayne and the housekeeper were very surprised when they saw Michael. Wayne immediately stood up when he saw the bruises on the corner of Michael’s mouth. “Michael, what happened to you?”
“I was beaten up!” Michael replied.
“Who can be so vicious to do this to you?” Wayne was distressed and angry.
“This is not what I want to talk to you about, I have something to tell you today.”
Michael sat down opposite Wayne. “The child I had with Abbie is still alive and she’s in the Clark family now.”
“How… how is this possible?”
“I’ve done the DNA test!” Michael put the test on the tea table. When Wayne reached out and picked it up, he couldn’t hide the joy on his face when he saw the result. “That’s great!”
“Yes! Do you know why I’m back? I want you and my mother to apologize to the Clark family!”
“This…”
“You don’t want to?” Michael asked coldly.
“I’ll do it!” Wayne nodded rapidly. Since his grandson could no longer have any children, the child that Abbie had given birth to was Michael’s only heir.
Wayne felt much better all of a sudden because Michael had a child at least. He silently vowed that he do everything he could to take the child from the Clark family.
Michael already guessed what Wayne was thinking when he saw the latter’s expression. “I’m just asking you to apologize to the Clark family, so don’t mention anything about the child!”
“Why?”
“Why are you still so clueless? Why do you think that the Clark family will give the child to us? Do you think they can’t afford to raise her?”
Wayne stayed silent after Michael scolded him. He might have the confidence if it was any other company, but he was no match for the Clark family.
“I want to marry Abbie and I’ll do it no matter what. If I can’t marry her, it’ll be meaningless for me to live because I won’t be able to be with my child back as well. Grandpa, do you understand what I mean?”
“Yes, I will apologize to the Clark family sincerely!”
“Please don’t tell my mom the truth and just force her to apologize.”
“Michael, what if the Clark family doesn’t accept our apology?”
“Figure it out yourself. Since you had the guts to go against them back then, why can’t you think of a way to solve this?”
Michael stood up and said, “Get changed so you can apologize to the Clark family right now and remember not to mention a word about the child. You’d better make yourself seem even more miserable when you apologize!”
Abbie realized that Emma’s cup was lost when she woke up in the morning. Emma liked her cartoon cup very much and it was her designated cup. When she realized that her favourite cup was gone, she no longer listened to Abbie and she kept making a fuss.
Abbie couldn’t seem to coax her at all. When Richard heard that Emma was crying, he went upstairs to check on her. At the time, he didn’t take it seriously when he heard that the cup had been lost. “It must be at the Wolf Group since you brought it there yesterday, so just ask someone to look for it. If that doesn’t work, we can just buy new cups for her.”
When he picked up Emma as he spoke, she hugged his neck and sobbed softly. Richard coaxed hre in a soft voice, “Let’s go to the garden to look at the fishes and birds. We can even pick a few flowers and make a flower basket.”
He wasn’t sure if Emma understood what he had just said, but he still carried her away just like that.
Abbie couldn’t help but feel strange as she watched Richard leave with Emma in his arms. Why did Richard keep hugging and playing with Emma recently?
As she thought about this, one of the Wolf Group’s staff came over and sent Emma’s cup over. They said that they found it when they were cleaning up the park.
Abbie even felt a bit embarrassed that they went thorugh so much trouble for the sake of a single cup.
She wanted to give the Wolf Group’s staff a tip, but they refused to accept it and handed the cup to her.
Just as Abbie returned with a cup of water, Donald and Helen were talking about Braelynn and Richard’s engagement in the living room. Both of them were very satisfied with Braelynn as they talked about the marriage happily. After that, Abbie directly when to the kitchen and cleaned up Emma’s cup of water. Then, she filled it with water and asked the nanny to send it to the garden.
When she finally sat down and began to have breakfast, she suddenly heard the servant’s report from the living room, “Wayne and Meadow from the Davis family are here!”
