Richard strode in furiously. Abbie was stunned for a moment because she didn’t expect Richard to come over and she called out, “Richard!”
Richard went straight to Michael and grabbed his collar, “Michael, what do you think my sister is? Do you think that some sweet words can make up for all the things that she has suffered? You can just kill yourself if you want to, so why do you have to tell her about it deliberately? You’re just trying to threaten her, aren’t you?”
“I’m not! Richard, I’m sincere…”
“Get lost! Don’t you know how your family made my sister suffer? If it weren’t for your grandfather and mother, my sister wouldn’t be so badly hurt! How could you erase your family’s crimes with a casual apology? How can you disrespect my family like this?”
Richard became even angrier as he spoke. He had promised William that he would give Michael a chance because they had been on good terms for many years.
He didn’t want to humiliate William, but how could Michael try to coax Abbie with just a few simple words?
Michael didn’t struggle at all even though Richard was grabbing his collar. “Richard, I really mean it from the bottom of my heart. Just give me any condition you want and I’ll definitely do it if I can. Please let me be with Abbie!”
“What the f*ck are you talking about?!” Richard punched Michael. “Do you think my family needs you? Who do you think you are for you to say that?”
Michael’s mouth was bruised. “I sincerely apologize and I’m begging for us to make up. Richard, please don’t misunderstand me.”
Richard punched him again. “Who the hell cares about your apology? Get lost!”
Abbie lowered her gaze when she saw that Michael had been punched twice and her heart was full of mixed feelings. Meanwhile, the two little trouble-makers, Santhos and Cade, were cheering them on, “Well done! Let’s watch the fight! Uncle Richard, you can do it!”
Emma was so afraid when she saw how fierce her beloved uncle was acting that she burst into tears.
When Richard heard Emma’s cry, he looked over and saw her staring tearfully at him beating Michael up. He had an indescribable feeling in his heart and he was worried that it would traumatise Emma if he fought in front of her.
Not to mention that he had hit Emma’s biological father. Just then, Richard let go of Michael. “Get lost right now!”
Michael couldn’t have a good discussion with Abbie once Richard appeared, so he left with a bruised face after he was punched.
He walked to his car outside and called William. “Richard punched me just now and I wasted the chance that you gave me.”
William got up and walked out of the corridor with a sneer. “I’ve heard about it. How can you be such a coward? You’re so eloquent usually, but why are you so useless in front of Abbie? Even I wanted to hit you when I heard your bullshit! How can you threaten Abbie with your life when she almost died because of you once? Where did you get the nerve to say that?”
“I’m sorry!” Michael also felt that he had gone too far.
“What can you change by apologizing to me? Michael, it’s useless for you to bed me for help! I wanted you to figure it out, not to threaten Abbie with your life. You have to show your sincerity, but I haven’t seen it so far.”
“William, please teach me what I should do. I’m at a dead end now.”
William sighed and said, “As I said, it’s not only about your apology, but it concerns your entire family. Are you determined to cut all ties with your grandfather and your parents? If so, then just forget about what I said.”
“I got it. I’ll ask them to personally come and apologize.” Michael then asked William, “I just saw Leonard’s child and I realized how much she resembles Abbie. William, is she Abbie’s child?”
“Why are you asking me that?” William thought to himself. How can he be so foolish to only realize it now?
“If that’s true, then she must be my child! Leonard doesn’t have a child, right?”
“I don’t know, so stop asking me about it! I don’t know anything!”
William was extremely impatient. “Alright, I still have something to do. I’ll hang up if there’s nothing else!”
“There’s something I need to figure out about Abbie’s child and I want to do a DNA test, but I can’t get close to her…”
“I’m not that free, so do it yourself.”
Michae realized that something was wrong when he heard William’s curt reply. If the child had nothing to do with Abbie, William would definitely tell him not to waste his efforts. However, William asked him to find a way to deal with the child instead, so there must be more to it than meets the eye.
It was impossible for Abbie to let him get close to the child, so he had to find a way to obtain the child’s DNA specimen himself.
Michael was a smart man and he had handled countless cases, so he was very experienced in taking DNA samples. After that, he soon came up with a solution.
Emma was so young, so it was best if he could take some of her saliva samples. He recalled that he had just seen her cup of water on the chair in the park.
Michael immediately got out of the car and returned to the hotel. Then, he went straight to find the staff in the park and asked them to give him Emma’s cup.
The staff member refused directly. “No, we can’t agree to your request.”
“I’ll give you money and some benefits.”
The staff member waved his hand and said, “It’s not about money, it’s about work ethic. How can we touch a guest’s things without permission? It doesn’t make sense.”
Michael saw that the staff was not convinced, so he had no choice but to use William to pressure them. “The president of your company requested it, so why are you disobeying him?”
“We’re just following the rules and regulations, so the same goes for the president.”
Michael had never seen such a stubborn person before and he was so angry that he said, “Can’t you just turn a blind eye to this? If not, I’ll ask William to fire you!”
The staff stayed silent but he still refused to give in, so Michael had to call Marcus in the end. The latter then asked William, who rubbed his head and said, “Why is he being even stupider than before?”
“Michael usually can’t think straight when Miss Clark is concerned.” Marcus smiled. “Mr. Howard, do you think it’s convenient for you to do it?”
“Well, I don’t know what he would do if I don’t give him a chance. Come to think of it, I’m so unlucky to have met such a fool. Has he lost his mind? Why the f*ck do I have to help him get a measly sample?”
Marcus just smiled and called the management staff to give in to Michael.
Michael rushed to the appraisal centre as soon as he got the cup. He was so frantic that he didn’t go home after that, but he stayed at the centre instead.
After he waited in the appraisal centre for eight hours, the result came out at seven o’clock the next morning.
The results of the appraisal showed that they were indeed related. In other words, Emma was Michael’s daughter.
