The hospital was very quiet at 12 o’clock. Michael was staring blankly in one direction, and it had been three hours since he averted his gaze.
Meanwhile, his assistant sat on the sofa uneasily and kept looking at the time.
Finally, footsteps came from the corridor.
Soon, William appeared as soon as the ward door was pushed open and it was as if the assistant had seen his saviour. “Mr. Howard, you’re finally here.”
William frowned and glanced at Michael, who was still sitting motionlessly. He then waved to the assistant and said, “You may leave!”
The assistant immediately left the ward while William walked to the bedside and sat down. “Michael!”
Michael ignored him and didn’t move at all.
William called out his name again, but Michael still ignored him. William frowned and said, “Can you hear me!? I didn’t come here to see you in such a pathetic state! What are you trying to do by acting so miserable for Abbie? You weren’t like this when she was in an accident, but why are you acting as if you’re about to die now?”
Michael finally had a reaction when she heard Abbie’s name, and he turned his dull gaze to William and said, “She will never belong to me again!”
“Even I can’t stand how disgusting you look, let alone Abbie!”
William sneered and said, “Let me ask you, do you still want to marry Abbie?”
“That’s my biggest wish, but I can only dream about it.”
“That’s not certain! Don’t you have control over your life?”
“You don’t have to comfort me because I know it’s impossible! William, I hate it so much! I can’t wait to kill all the people who separated us!”
“You don’t have to kill everyone. As long as you help me deal with the whole Gurney family, I can help you be together with Abbie!”
“What did you just say? William, are you kidding?” Michael didn’t dare to believe it.
“I’m not joking, I’m telling you this very seriously.”
There was a sneer on William’s face. “Didn’t you ask me to cooperate with you to destroy the Gurney family last time? It’s time to carry out the plan, so you have to f*cking get yourself together because I need your help to deal with them.”
Michael was no longer interested in wealth and power. Instead, he stared at William and asked, “Will I be able to be with Abbie after dealing with the Gurney family?”
“Of course!”
“I don’t believe you!”
“You can doubt anyone else, but you must believe me!”
Michael looked at William for a while and murmured, “William, I’ll definitely bow down to you if Abbie ends up with me.”
“Why do I need you to do that? I just want the Gurney family to go bankrupt! The only thing you have to do now is to hurry up and pick yourself back up. Abbie will get married to Leonard if you continue to be in such a pathetic state.”
Michael had a trace of anger on his face. “What do you want me to do? No, why do you want to destroy the Gurney family?”
“Because Evelyn wants to kill my wife. I want to send her to prison and eliminate the Gurney family because they’re a threat to us.”
Michael finally realized the reason why William wanted to hurt the Gurney family. It turned out to be because of Valeria.
“William, Abbie will listen to your wife. Even if she loses your memory, it will still be the same as before. Please ask your wife to persuade her.”
“Alright, but don’t involve my wife in your affairs with Abbie. She will never help a jerk like you to persuade Abbie, so what you need to do now is to speed up the previous plan.”
William emphasized, “You and Abbie can be together when the Gurney family is gone.”
If it was anyone else, Michael would have definitely spat at them for saying this to him. However, these words came from William’s mouth and he was a man of his word.
He had already lost all sense of motication, because William’s words gava him a glimmer of hope.
Valeria stayed with Abbie in the Clark family for a week. If not for William’s call, she wouldn’t even think of going home. He asked her pitifully on the phone, “Have you forgotten that you still have a husband and two sons? If you don’t come back soon, your sons won’t be able to recognize you.”
“Are you serious?”
“I feel that I’m not as important as Abbie in your heart and I’m so jealous! Do you understand?”
“Alright, I’ll come back today.”
Valeria packed up and went back to the Howard family home. After Abbie and Helen sent her to the door, Abbie Abbie turned around and went upstairs after Valeria drove away. She sent a message to Leonard. “I want to see Emma, please arrange it immediately!”
Leonard looked at Abbie’s message and laughed sinisterly. “Now? Isn’t Madam Howard with you? Are you sure you have time to visit Emma?”
“Valeria has gone home, so I have time now.”
“Your family will be worried if you leave suddenly, so I’ll pick you up after I make the arrangements.”
“When?” Abbie immediately ask because she wanted to see Emma urgently.
“Let’s do it at noon. I’ll have lunch with you and we’ll go visit Emma after that. To prevent your parents and your brother from doubting you, you should put more effort into dressing up.”
Abbie got up and began to change her clothes after she replied to him.
Helen was sitting on the sofa in the living room, but she stood up when she saw Abbie walk down the stairs in a beautiful dress. “Are you going out?”
“Yes, I have an appointment to have lunch with Leonard.”
Helen was worried. “Why don’t you tell your brother?”
“Is it necessary for me to report everything to him?” Abbie was impatient. “Leonard saved me and I believe him because he’s my saviour!”
Helen sighed. Although Abbie came back alive, she was distant from her family members and it seemed impossible for her to go back to the past.
She asked the driver to take Abbie out and watched her car drive away. Helen then called Richard and said, “Richard, she went out to see Leonard. I’m very worried, so why don’t you arrange for someone to follow her?”
Richard comforted her. “Mom, we’re in B City, so you don’t have to worry.”
“That’s true, but I don’t trust Leonard. Although he saved Abbie, I don’t think he’s a trustworthy person.”
“You don’t have to worry about this, I know what to do.”
Richard hung up the phone and called William. “Leonard has made an appointment to meet Abbie, so it’s up to you now.”
“I got it. I called my wife to come back home because I wanted to give Leonard a chance. I’ve already arranged everything, so we just have to wait and see.”
Leonard had not arrived even after the driver sent Abbie to the restaurant.
The waiter brought a cup of tea to Abbie. As soon as she picked up the cup and took a sip of water, she heard a familiar voice from behind her. “Hey, isn’t this Abbie?”
Abbie knew who it was without even turning her head, but she maintained her posture and refused to move.
Azalea walked over to Abbie with a smile on her face and sat down opposite her. “Abbie, do you know me?”
Of course, she knew who Azalea was and she would be able to recognize her at a single glance.
Abbie would have jumped up and slapped Azalea in the face if this happened in the past. However, she knew that she couldn’t be impulsive now.
She didn’t believe that Azalea would show up here so coincidentally. Was Azalea here because of Leonard and what exactly was he trying to do?
