Abbie dialed Leonard’s number. “I saw the news about Michael and Azalea. Did Michael really give all of his Davis family shares to Francis as Azalea’s betrothal gift?”
Leonard had deliberately arranged for someone to say such things in front of Abbie and waited for something to happen to her, but he didn’t expect that Abbie would call him and ask. He immediately replied, “Yes, Michael gave his shares to Francis. I don’t know if it’s a betrothal gift. Wayne fainted and was hospitalized because of Michael’s behavior. He just woke up not long ago.”
“How is this possible? That much money…” Abbie truly found this unbelievable.
No matter how much Michael loved Azalea, he wouldn’t give that much money to Francis as a betrothal gift, would he?
“Abbie, to tell you the truth, I’m also very surprised to hear this. Not only you and I, but I don’t think anyone would have thought that Michael would do this either. That much money, I don’t think even William, who is filthy rich, would be willing to give his shares to Valeria as a betrothal gift. What Michael did was really surprising!”
Leonard sighed. “This also proves that Michael really loves Azalea very much.”
This sentence made Abbie’s heart ache. Michael loved Azalea, which was a knot in Abbie’s heart that she could not let go of.
She didn’t believe it when she heard people talking about it and saw the news as she thought the media exaggerated it to gain attention from viewers.
However, Abbie couldn’t accept it when Leonard told her in person that this was true.
It was impossible for Leonard to lie about such a big thing, so was Michael really lying to her?
The person he loved was never her, but Azalea.
Had he been pretending to like her to protect Azalea?
Although Abbie was upset, she couldn’t let Leonard know that she had regained her memory.
Abbie suppressed the pain in her heart. “So does that mean that Michael has nothing left? All his assets are under the Gurney family?”
“I think so. I’ll let you know if there’re any updates.” Leonard sighed. “Abbie, if Michael has nothing left, then you can’t use your child to get ahold of Michael’s assets.”
Leonard’s words were warning her to give up the child as he didn’t want her to keep the baby at all.
Abbie couldn’t refuse Leonard openly, so she said, “Yes, that’s what I thought when I first saw the news. If I can’t use this baby to get that man’s assets and leave him with nothing, then what’s the point of giving birth to this child?”
Leonard was secretly delighted. “That’s why you have to think about this carefully, Abbie! I’m worried that you’ll regret it in the future.”
The baby was already 29-weeks-old. How could she give it up? Even if she wanted to, Leonard should not have persuaded her for the sake of her health, either.
Leonard was exceptionally vicious! Abbie heaved a sigh of relief. “I’ll think about it carefully.”
After hanging up, Abbie could no longer calm down. It was already noon, so the servants and housekeeper accompanied Abbie to a restaurant to have lunch.
Abbie couldn’t stop thinking about Michael giving all his shares to Azalea.
She hated Michael so much that she wanted to devour him whole.
There was no love or hatred for no reason in the world. She hated Michael, which showed that she also loved him.
If she didn’t love him, she could totally treat Michael as nothing and wouldn’t pay attention to anything about him.
Abbie hated why she still loved that jerk Michael. She was hopeless!
She hated him and it pained her. She didn’t care about anything else and just wanted to tear Michael into pieces and had just wanted to ask Michael why he lied to her face-to-face.
As she was distracted, she misplaced her footing on the escalator. The bodyguard behind her was talking on the phone as he didn’t expect something like this to happen. He immediately reached out to catch her, but unfortunately, he only caught Abbie’s sleeve.
The sleeve couldn’t bear the weight of a person, let alone a pregnant woman. With a tear, the sleeve was ripped off and Abbie released a cry as she fell from the escalator.
Everyone was dumbfounded. When the bodyguards rushed to Abbie’s side, her pants had already been dyed red with blood.
Then, Abbie was immediately sent to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. The bodyguards and housekeeper didn’t expect such a thing to happen.
They were all frightened to the core when they saw what happened to Abbie and didn’t dare call Leonard to tell him.
Only his assistant knew what Leonard wanted, and the butler and bodyguards naturally didn’t.
Leonard had always pretended to care very much about the child in Abbie’s belly, so the housekeeper and bodyguards thought that Abbie and the child were very important to Leonard.
If something were to happen to Abbie, they would definitely be in deep trouble given Leonard’s ruthlessness.
The bodyguards and the housekeeper didn’t dare call to report Abbie’s situation and were only waiting anxiously outside the operating room, praying for Abbie to be fine, and so did the child.
The surgery went on for two hours, and the doctor successfully retrieved the child from Abbie’s stomach. Abbie, on the other hand, was fine too and was transferred to a ward after the surgery.
The child was alive and Abbie was fine, and only then did the housekeeper and bodyguards breathed a sigh of relief.
This was a joyous outcome! The child and Abbie were fine, so Leonard would not blame them.
Only then did they discuss this and reported the situation to Leonard. It was two o’clock in the morning where Leonard was, so he must be sleeping. Therefore, it was inappropriate to call at this time and the housekeeper decided to call Leonard the next day.
Abbie woke up from her coma at six o’clock in the evening. Seeing Abbie open her eyes, the housekeeper, who had been waiting in the ward, immediately informed her, “Miss Clark, the child is fine. She’s fine. Don’t worry!”
Hearing that the child was fine, Abbie heaved a sigh of relief. The butler didn’t know what Abbie was thinking about, so he was still worried that Leonard would punish him.
The butler had served Leonard for several years, but he had never seen Leonard so concerned about a woman.
He felt that Abbie was very important to Leonard, so if he asked Abbie for help so that she could ask Leonard to spare them, Leonard would not be too harsh on them too.
The butler thought about how to apologize to Abbie and said, “Miss Clark, this accident was our responsibility. We’re sorry to have let you go through something like this. We apologize to you sincerely.”
Abbie knew her place, so how could she blame Leonard’s butler and bodyguards? She said weakly, “I know you didn’t mean it. It was my own mistake. It has nothing to do with you. You don’t have to blame yourself.”
Seeing that Abbie was easy-going, the butler immediately took the opportunity to plead for mercy. “Miss Clark, Mr. Floyd cares about you very much. Mr. Floyd will definitely punish us for this. Miss Clark, I was hoping you could please plead for us in front of Mr. Floyd? The bodyguards and I will never forget Miss Clark’s kindness.”
This was a way to win over their hearts, so of course, Abbie would not refuse. “Let me talk to Leonard.”
