Frederick immediately denied it. “He probably wouldn’t recognise Azalea as his daughter. How embarrassing would that be for him? He had just sued someone for spreading rumours about him and Azalea, and he even said that he had nothing to do with her. He only liked her and told her to stay at his house because of what Evelyn had done. Wouldn’t he be humiliated if he admitted that Azalea was his illegitimate daughter now? He would be scolded and treated as a joke by everyone.”
Thomas said lightly, “Uncle Frederick, you should think carefully about it. Since he can ignore his daughter, do you think he would care about a housekeeper like you?”
“To tell you the truth, I started to worry after seeing his attitude towards Azalea. This is why I’m asking you for help as well. Although I’m not your biological father, I have always treated you as my own son for so many years…”
Thomas naturally understood what Frederick meant and interrupted, “Don’t worry, I’ll help you. I’ll definitely repay your kindness and I’ll think of a solution with you right now. Uncle Frederick, it doesn’t matter if Francis refuses to acknowledge Azalea. You can think of a way to make him admit it even if he doesn’t want to.”
“How can I do that? He won’t listen to me and he’s starting to blame me now. If I ask him to admit Azalea’s identity, he’ll definitely make me into his scapegoat.”
“Uncle Frederick, I’m not asking you to persuade Francis to acknowledge Azalea. I’m trying to think of other ways, such as approaching Azalea.”
“What? How can I approach her when she’s been poisoned?! I probably can’t arrange for anyone to get close to her right now. Even if I manage to do that, it will be terrible if Francis finds out about my intentions.”
“It’s alright, I’ll help you. Don’t worry about it.” Thomas initially hoped that he could guide Frederick into finding a solution, but he didn’t expect that Frederick would be out of his wits. He was so worried that he couldn’t think of a solution at all.
No matter what, Thomas would take care of it since Frederick had raised him for so many years.
Thomas thought for a while after he hung up, and he was ready to arrange for someone to go to the hospital to find Azalea when William called him. “Did Frederick call you to ask for your help?”
Thomas immediately understood that Richard was not the person behind Azalea’s matter, and it was William instead. He answered immediately, “I just ended the call and I’m thinking of a way to help him. Since this is all part of your plan, can you please let Frederick go?”
“I wasn’t planning on dealing with Frederick at all. You should be very clear about it, right?”
“I know that you won’t care about someone like Frederick, but Francis will definitely push him to take the blame. If he can be so cruel to his own daughter, I’m pretty sure he won’t have any sympathy for a housekeeper.”
William laughed and said, “That’s true, I didn’t expect Francis to be so ruthless. How about we let Azalea deal with this? If she wants Francis to admit her identity, she has to do something on her own. I’ll get someone to talk to her right now.”
Thomas was overjoyed when he heard this. “I had the same thought as well! I was just about to arrange for someone to talk to her, so I’ll send you my thanks to you since you’re willing to help!”
“There’s no need for that. By the way, you have to give Frederick some mental prep because the police may contact him.”
The police quickly sent a message to Frederick as expected, but he naturally would not admit that he had poisoned Azalea during his interrogation.
The police questioned Frederick when he was detained and he wasn’t allowed to be bailed out. Francis arranged for a lawyer to bail Frederick out, but the police refused on the grounds that the case was extremely serious.
Francis panicked when he heard that he could not bail Frederick out because all of this was not part of his plan at all.
As long as he admitted that Azalea was his illegitimate daughter, he would be able to prove that Frederick wasn’t involved in murdering Azalea.
However, Francis did not want to do this. Then, he realized that he had fallen into a trap after thinking about it for a long time.
He had been set up ever since someone installed secret cameras in Azalea’s ward.
Since he didn’t arrange for someone to poison Azalea, he was sure that it was done by someone else and it was definitely Richard’s plan. Richard must’ve begun to scheme against him after finding out about his relationship with Azalea. Since he felt that he would be falling into Richard’s trap if he admitted that Azalea was his illegitimate daughter, he decided that he would never recognize her status even on his death bed.
Francis knew that Frederick had not killed anyone. Since the latter had been framed, Francis did not believe that the police could do anything to him at all.
Frederick still hoped that Francis would feel a little sympathy for him when he was detained by the police, and take the initiative to admit Azalea’s identity. After all, he had worked for Francis for so many years.
As a result, Frederick was filled with disappointment when Francis did not make any moves at all.
He was lucky to have approached Thomas in advance to beg for help. Otherwise, he would probably be filled with fear and anxiety by now.
Bobby had almost been taken for a fool after he found out Leonard’s background. He felt that Leonard could not be underestimated as well since the latter seemed to be as smart as William.
But Leonard was way more vicious and cruel than William. Hence, Bobby and Jaxon decided to find out where Leonard’s lair was.
However, he had to report the results of his investigation to William before he did anything else.
Bobby then called William to report Leonard’s situation. After William heard about Leonard’s relationship with the Floyd family, he finally understood why Fandrey refused to tell him about the latter.
Fandrey had been betrayed by Leonard even though he was so selfless and generous. Since this was a very humiliating incident for Fandrey, he would never tell anyone about this.
Bobby then told William that he had almost been ambushed by Leonard’s men in the hospital.
“He must’ve been on guard against us for a long time, and there must be something fishy about the patient that he often visits. I’m pretty sure her identity is pretty secretive as well, otherwise Leonard wouldn’t be so careful.”
“You’re right. The patient is the key to this entire mystery.” William also felt that the patient’s identity was very strange.
Bobby took the initiative to say, “Sir, I plan to stay here and investigate the patient. Then, I’ll confront Leonard with Jaxon and see how capable he is.”
“There’s no need to do that. You don’t have to worry about the patient, and it’s not the right time to confront Leonard. Just come back first.”
“Sir, I want to seek revenge! Back then, Jacelyn was killed by Leonard because she wanted to save me. I haven’t had a moment of peace over the years ever since Jacelyn sacrificed herself for me. I couldn’t find out who killed her before, so I will never let Leonard go now. I must kill him to avenge Jacelyn!”
William knew of Bobby’s worries, so he sighed softly and said, “Bobby, I know how you are feeling and I understand your point of view, but Leonard is not that easy to deal with. Just come back first so we can discuss the countermeasures. I promise that I’ll help you!”
