Francis was in a hurry to call Frederick when two cars stopped at the gate of his villa.
Evelyn jumped out of the first red car and said, “Grandpa, are you here to welcome me personally?”
Francis was upset when he saw Evelyn and he asked, “Why didn’t you come without telling me first?”
“Who said I didn’t? Didn’t I call you beforhand?” Evelyn retorted.
Frederick got out of the car when the back door opened, and Francis looked at him unhappily. “Where did you in the morning!? Did you know that something big just happened at home just now? The helper and bodyguards were taken away by the police!”
Frederick’s face was full of disbelief. “How could this be? Sir, did the police tell you the reason for that?”
“They said that it’s for attempted murder!”
“What?! This…” Frederick was surprised initially, and he thought for a moment before his expression changed. “This is bad!”
“What did you think of?” Francis asked.
“Sir, let’s go to the study.”
Evelyn was very unhappy because she was ignored. “What are both of you going to discuss in the study? I’m not an outsider and I’ve just arrived! Shouldn’t you at least welcome me home!?”
Francis and Frederick ignored Evelyn and hurried to the study. Then, Frederick said after closing the door, “Sir, I think that something must have happened to Azalea.”
“What could have happened to her? She doesn’t have any other illnesses except for her leg injury,” Francis asked.
“Didn’t you ask me to drug Azalea? Could something have happened to her because of the drugs?”
Francis became anxious when he heard that. “That can’t be… How can that medicine be lethal? Isn’t it just sleeping pills?”
Frederick was not certain. “It isn’t fatal, but Azalea is a pregnant woman. Could it be that she had a miscarriage after taking the medicine?”
“This… Why didn’t you measure the dosage properly!? You can’t do anything right!” Francis shouted at Frederick in anger.
Frederick felt incredibly wronged. “I asked them to give her a safe dosage, I…”
“What should we do now? Tell me!” Francis interrupted Frederick and continued to ask.
“Shall I send someone to the police station to take a look?” Frederick asked.
“Go!”
Frederick was not familiar with B City, so he could only call Thomas for help. The latter was very surprised when he heard this. “How can the helper and bodyguard be taken away by the police? Did they do anything bad?”
“I don’t know, and we were also guessing the reason. We’re confused as well.” Frederick did not dare to say anything about drugging Azalea.
Thomas certainly would not refuse since Frederick had raised him since he was a boy. He pondered for a moment and said, “Okay, I’ll arrange for someone to ask about it right away!”
Thomas didn’t know that Francis and Azalea had colluded with each other at that time, so he didn’t expect that this matter would have something to do with William. Then, he immediately arranged for someone to inquire about the situation in the police station after he hung up.
He finally found some information after pulling some strings and found out that Azalea was bubbling at the mouth after she was poisoned in the hospital. During this period of time, the helper and the bodyguards were the only ones who had entered Azalea’s ward.
After a thorough investigation, the police obtained evidence that the helper and the bodyguards had tried to murder Azalea.
His spy also said that the helper kept trying to prove her innocence during her interrogation, and she said that she had no intention of harming anyone. Frederick had asked her to visit Azalea in the hospital, and he was the one who had prepared the food as well. She was only responsible for delivering food, so she did not know about anything else.
The police felt that Frederick was a major suspect when they heard this and were about to send an arrest warrant to him.
Thomas noticed the seriousness of the matter and immediately called Frederick after he heard the report. “Uncle Frederick, the police arrested the helper and the bodyguards because Azalea was poisoned.”
“What!? How is this possible?” Frederick almost blurted out the truth. He only arranged for someone to put knock-out drugs in her food, so how could she be poisoned?
“How could it not? The police have already investigated it thoroughly. Azalea didn’t have any contact with anyone in the hospital other than the helper and the bodyguards. Also, the surveillance footage showed that Azalea was poisoned after eating the food that the helper sent over. Hence, this matter definitely has something to do with the Gurney family.”
Frederick’s heart was pounding in his chest. “How could this be? Someone must’ve been up to something and they’re definitely trying to frame us!”
Thomas frowned and said, “Uncle Frederick, tell me honestly… Does Azalea’s matter have anything to do with you? I’m telling you, this situation doesn’t look that good. You’d better tell me the truth, or you won’t be able to deal with it when you’re arrested.”
Frederick knew that this was not a small matter, so he didn’t dare to hide it from Thomas and explained everything that happened to Azalea. Thomas directly hypothesized, “You were framed. I’m guessing that someone deliberately injected Azalea with toxins after you drugged her, which led to her being rescued after she was poisoned. Besides, someone must have installed a camera in Azalea’s ward to record what all of you have done.”
“Who did this… Could it be Richard? Why is he so cunning?” Frederick was dumbfounded.
Thomas snorted and said, “If you plan on scheming against others, you’d have to accept your retribution. If Richard is really behind this, you won’t be able to solve this matter anymore. Besides, you have to be mentally prepared to receive payback for how you slandered the Clark family.”
Frederick panicked when he heard Thomas’s words. Since Francis could be so cruel to Azalea, he would definitely not be soft-hearted to him.
This matter would not end well by then, and Francis would definitely use Frederick as a scapegoat.
He didn’t want to take the blame for Francis, so he had no choice but to ask Thomas for help. Frederick immediately begged, “Thomas, what should we do now? You have to help me!”
“Let me think about it!” Thomas would definitely help Frederick, so he asked, “Are you extremely sure that Azalea is Francis’ illegitimate daughter?”
“I’m sure, I even did the DNA test myself.”
“Why isn’t Francis willing to admit Azalea’s identity?”

“I do have a way, but I have to convince Francis.” Thomas paused for a moment and said, “We need Francis to admit Azalea’s identity and prove that she is his illegitimate daughter. This way, the possibility of both of you poisoning her would be completely ruled out.”
