After Archer parked the car at the entrance of the Wolf Group, he saw Raymond and a tall, bulky young woman walk out of the hotel.
She was talking to Raymond with a nice smile, but he seemed absent-minded. After spotting Archer and Natalie’s cars, he quickly walked towards them with her.
Archer and Natalie got out of the car at once. Raymond brought the woman there and introduced her to them. “Mom, Dad, this is Anna!”
“Nice to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Saunders!” Anna greeted Natalie and Archer immediately. The duo smiled and nodded their heads. Natalie was surprised because of Anna’s looks and figure. She failed to pay attention to the name that Raymond had deliberately mentioned when he introduced her to them.
What was the relationship between Raymond and this overweight, stocky, and average-looking girl? Natalie had never heard about such a person among Raymond’s friend. Was she a client?
What was Raymond thinking by bringing a client here to say hello?
Raymond noticed the doubts of Natalie and Archer, so he deliberately emphasized, “Ms. Taylor is my blind date last time. I’ve invited her to dinner today.”
Natalie finally came to her senses when she heard Anna’s name clearly. For a moment, she was at a loss for words.
Raymond saw the surprise in Natalie’s eyes, so he turned to Anna with a smile. “Ms. Taylor, I need to talk to my parents, so I won’t be seeing you off. I’ll ask someone to send you to the Wolf Group’s office.”
Anna was in a rush to go back to work, so she didn’t refuse his suggestion. In fact, she thanked him with a smile. Then he asked the Wolf Group’s staff to send her away.
Natalie and Archer smiled and waved Anna goodbye. They didn’t turn to look at Raymond until the car that she was in sped out of sight. “What were you thinking?”
“Mom, don’t you understand what I’m doing? This girl is called Anna, and she is my blind date last time. She is the girl that William has introduced to me. The one who was supposed to have good looks and great talents.”
“Are you kidding me?” Natalie shot a glare at Raymond.
“Mom, rumors may deceive, but to see is to believe. You have met her in person. How can you not believe me?”
Raymond had been feeling miserable for the past few days. Today, he finally felt relieved that he could clear things up. “Mom, how do you feel when you see the girl William had introduced to me? During this period of time, you and dad have been criticizing me for being ungrateful. You said that I was rebellious. In fact, William actually played a trick on me and I suffered great grievances. I was wronged unjustly and no one even tried to right things for me!”
Natalie snorted when she heard Raymond’s complaint. If that girl just now was Anna, who was the other girl named Anna at the Howard family’s mansion earlier? She asked, “Are you sure this girl is called Anna? Are you sure that she is the girl that William had introduced to you?”
“Yes, I’m sure! Mom, she was in front of you. Why are you still doubting me?”
“I want to believe you too, but you can’t even give me a convincing reason!” Natalie was unhappy. “Do you know who did we have dinner with today?”
“It’s William, of course! He texted me about it. He knew that I took Anna away to expose his tricks, so he specially asked you and my dad to have a meal with him. He also told me that he was having dinner with you at the Wolf Group, so that I went to the wrong place. Today, I’m going to confront him head-on. You need to know that he is playing tricks on me.”
“Raymond, besides William, there were other guests as well today. A girl named Anna was with us. Do you know what she looks like?”
“How on earth would I know?” Raymond suddenly came to a realization after he finished his words. “Have you had dinner with Anna? Then she must be the girl that Valeria introduced to Andrew. Valeria told me that she shared the same name as the girl William had introduced to me. In fact, she was very beautiful.”
Raymond suddenly realized that he had been tricked by William again. He gnashed her teeth and said, “Damn that jerk, William. Did he trick me again? Mom, it’s not what you think. There are two girls called Anna. One is the one William introduced to me, while the other is Andrew’s girlfriend.”
“Stop this foolish explanation! You haven’t forgotten to find a reason to defend yourself at this moment. William has told me everything. Natalie didn’t bother to listen to Raymond’s explanation. She was sure that it was Raymond’s fault, so she said angrily,
“The more disgusting part is that you’ve asked this girl here to pretend to be Anna in order to gain our trust. What are you thinking? Do you take your father and I for fools? Let me tell you, it’s impossible for you to stay single! I will arrange a blind date for you starting from today. It’ll go on until you’ve found the girl you like!
Raymond felt wronged and aggrieved. “Mom, that’s not the truth. It’s William. He knew that I was going to expose his tricks, so he did this on purpose. William is sinister and devious. Don’t fall into his trap. Trust me!”
“That’s enough. Say no more. Your father and I don’t have time to walk this through with you. Hubby, let’s go!”
Natalie pulled Archer into the car and left. Once the engine sprang to life, she poked her head out and told Raymond, “Don’t do anything rash today. Wait for my call for the blind date!”
“Has he fallen into William’s trap again? Why the hell would it come to this?” As Raymond watch Natalie and Archer’s cars drive away, he was so angry that he kicked the car next to him.
He was about to drive back home in a bad mood when he spotted Andrew’s car on the road. It wasn’t a rare sight to come across Andrew’s car.
The strange part was that a woman was sitting in the passenger seat of Andrew’s car. From Raymond’s position, he couldn’t see her face clearly, but he could see that Andrew was talking to her with a gentle smile on his face.
Could this girl be the one that Valeria had introduced to Andrew, the one that was also known as Anna?
Raymond’s interest was suddenly aroused. He was never close to Andrew, but he had a sudden urge to follow Andrew and see what the girl in his passenger seat looked like.
He turned around at the intersection to catch up with Andrew’s car. There were several cars between him and Andrew. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t get past them.
Later, Raymond waited for 30 seconds because of a red light. At the intersection, he saw Andrew’s car disappear into a junction about 100 meters after the red light.
When Raymond passed the intersection with traffic light, he couldn’t see Andrew’s car at all after taking the left turn.
Didn’t all his efforts go down the drain now that Andrew had disappeared?
Raymond was crestfallen. The Saunders family’s hotel wasn’t far awy from here. Besides, he had lost the target he was following. Thus, he drove the car to the Saunders family’s hotel.
He stopped the car. Then the security guard immediately greeted him warmly and opened the car door for him.
He got out of the car and was about to enter the hotel. He received a call from Natalie when he was walking up the staircase.
