Upon hearing Marcus’s words, Raymond retorted curtly, “Who told you that, Assistant Field? You are a man, not a woman. How can you talk nonsense before confirming the truth?”
“Mr. Saunders, why are you so mad? Who said that I haven’t confirmed it? The staff in the hotel has reported to me that you brought a woman with you. Are they lying to me?”
“It’s true that I took someone there, but why would you think she is my girlfriend?”
“Is she not your girlfriend? You did come to our office and take her away in a hurry, didn’t you? Besides, when she left, she told everyone that you were her boyfriend. Isn’t this right?” Marcus asked again.
“Marcus, don’t talk nonsense with me. I have a question for you. Where is William? I need to talk to him urgently.”
“Ah, you mean Mr. Howard. I think he went out for lunch, didn’t he?”
“I know he went out for dinner, but I have no idea where he is. Tell me his location quickly if you know about it.”
“Sorry, I’m also clueless. I’m just an assistant. I won’t know where my boss is if he doesn’t tell me.”
Raymond let out a sneer. “Is William hiding from me because he feels guilty? He can’t hide forever. Please tell him on my behalf and ask him to contact me at once.”
“I’ll let Mr. Howard know when he comes back.”
Raymond hung up the phone angrily when he heard that Marcus was obviously brushing him off.
In the private room, Anna had already done ordering the dishes. When she saw that Raymond did not come in, she came out to check on him. “Mr. Saunders, are you still here? I thought you might have left without saying goodbye like last time.”
“Why would I do that?” Raymond sat down. During this period of time, Natalie had complained about his blind date frequently. William was the cause of his problems.
William thought that everything would be fine if he hid from Raymond, but it wasn’t that simple. Raymond asked Anna, “Miss Taylor, the one who introduced you to go on a blind date with me is William, your boss, right?”
“Huh, no? What does this have to do with Mr. Howard? Mr. Howard is so busy at work that he doesn’t even know me. Moreover, he is so stern and cold. How could he do something that only a matchmaker will do?” Anna denied it directly.
Raymond still wanted to get more information from Anna to determine William’s crime. He had even turned on the recording on his mobile phone, but Anna denied it directly.
He was upset, so he asked, “If it’s not your boss, Marcus is the one who told you about the blind date, isn’t it?”
“No.” Anna continued to reject his assumption. “Assistant Field is as busy as Mr. Howard, and I’m not close to him at all. How could he intervene in my affairs?”
Raymond was dumbfounded for a moment. If it wasn’t William or Marcus, then who was it? He continued to ask, “Then who introduced you to go on a blind date last time?”
“One of my former colleagues in the company. She has already resigned,” Anna replied. She also realized that Raymond’s question was weird. “Mr. Saunders, why do you ask these strange questions? Did something happen?”
Raymond shook his head in response. “It’s nothing. I was just asking for the sake of it.”
William was really sneaky. In order to prevent Raymond from getting the evidence of his crime, he had done it in such a secretive way. It appeared that getting back at William through the recording would not work.
Raymond was slightly discouraged. It seemed that he had to bring Anna to Natalie in person so that she believed that William was pranking him.
He sent a message to Natalie when the thought occurred to him. “Mom, where are you? I have something urgent to discuss with you. Reply message as soon as you see it.”
Andrew and Anna left the Howard family’s mansion together after lunch. The others watched as they left.
Natalie called William to one side to speak to him alone. “William, what’s going on? Didn’t you introduce Anna to Raymond so that he can get a girlfriend? Why is she with Andrew now?”
“It’s a long story. I did want Anna and Raymond to be together, but Raymond doesn’t seem to like her. They had an argument the first time they met, so I can only give up on this matter.”
“That’s ridiculous. How could he do this?”
“Forget it, Natalie. We can’t force him to do something he doesn’t want. There’s no way to force love or relationship. If Raymond doesn’t like Anna, you can’t force him to date her. Let’s stop here.”
What else could Natalie do? There was no way she could force Raymond and Anna to be together. Besides, it was useless to force him to do so now. Anna was already dating Andrew. Natalie had no choice but to let them be for now.
After leaving the Howard family’s mansion, Natalie was in a bad mood. She saw the calls and messages that Raymond had sent her once she got into the car. However, she scoffed and ignored him.
Archer noticed that Natalie was in a bad mood. He was curious. “Why are you upset all of a sudden?”
“Honey, did you see Anna just now? Isn’t she a good girl?”
“Yes, she is,” Archer replied.
“She is the blind date introduced to Raymond by William. Raymond said that she was ugly and fat, but was he telling the truth? Look at Anna. She is such a beauty. Does this mean that Raymond is determined on not getting married at all?”
Archer let out a sigh. “The boy is really something. Let’s talk to him when we get back tonight.”
“It’s useless to do so. I’ve told him off so many times, and I’ve asked people to introduce a lot of girls to him. Have you seen him going on a date with them? He always brushes us off. Dad always stands up for him when I scold him as he still sees him as a boy. How old is he already? Valeria is two years younger than him, but she already has two kids. If he doesn’t get married, he has to get a girlfriend, right?”
Archer could only try to comfort her when he saw that Natalie was anxious. “Young people nowadays are different from us. Calm down. Look at Richard, Michael, and Andrew. They aren’t married too, are they?”
“Azalea is pregnant with Michael’s child. It’s only a matter of time before Richard and Braelynn get together. As for Andrew, didn’t you see how intimate he is with Anna? By the looks of it, they’re going to get married soon. Raymond is the only one who stays single. Argh, I’m so pissed!”
Archer let out a smile. “Sweetheart, we can’t rush it. It’s best to let nature take its course.”
“Stop it. You and Dad don’t seem to be in a hurry at all. Let nature take its course, huh? If it goes on like this, your son will stay single for the rest of his life!”
Archer’s phone rang amidst their conversation. He answered it and said, “What’s the matter, Raymond?”
Raymond had been waiting for Natalie and Archer’s call for a long time, so he was extremely upset. He asked once the call was connected, “Dad, why I can’t get through to mom’s phone, not to mention yours? Where are you?”
“Us?” Archer looked around and saw the landmark building of Wolf Group. “Your mom and I are passing by William’s hotel right now.”
Raymond was overjoyed upon hearing this. “Is that so? That’s great! Go to Wolf Group now. We need to talk.”
Archer changed the direction of the car when he heard this. He steered the car towards the Wolf Group.
