She was the eldest daughter of the family that owned the Hattelo group. Her parents were alive and her brother was powerful. If this was the case, why was she here?
Why didn’t anyone take care of her since she was unconscious for such a long time? Abbie looked at Leonard blankly. “So I have a family, right? Why didn’t they come to visit me? Why did they abandon me?”
“Be patient, and I’ll tell you the reason slowly!”
Leonard took out his phone and opened it. A photo of Donald, Helen, and Richard appeared on the screen. He pointed at the photos and introduced them to Abbie one after another. “They are your parents, and this is your brother.”
Abbie’s eyes lingered on the photograph for quite some while. The person in the photo was her beloved family. It was said that blood is thicker than water, but she couldn’t remember anything at all.
Then Leonard showed Abbie the photo of the Clark family. When she saw Richard hold her shoulder and look at her affectionately, she murmured, “Oh, my brother! Why didn’t he come looking for me?”
“They searched for you high and low for a long time. But they thought you were dead because there was no news about you. They even held a funeral for you,” Leonard said.
“Does this mean that I am dead to my family? How could this happen?” Abbie muttered to herself.
She had a sorrowful look on her face. She only said after a while, “Can you help to inform my parents about me?”
“Of course!” Leonard nodded readily.
Abbie was relieved for a moment, but Leonard suddenly said, “There is one more thing. I need to tell you that you have a boyfriend named Michael previously. He is an international lawyer and also the third son of the Davis family.”
“And?” Abbie asked blankly.
“Well, I found out that after your accident, your father and brother began to target the Davis family’s company. The Clark family and the Davis family had a good relationship previously. Besides, your brother and Michael were good buddies. They were thick as thieves. But after the accident, they turned against each other immediately. Rumors had it that Michael cheated on you and caused your death.”
“He cheated on me, you say?”
“Yes, you seem to know his mistress personally. Her name is Azalea. Right now, she stays with the Davis family and she is pregnant.”
“So what happens after that?” Abbie asked again. She did not remember anything, so she had no feelings for Michael, nor did she harbor any hatred for Azalea. It was as if she was asking about a stranger.
“After that…” Leonard slowed down while saying,
“I suspect that Michael and Azalea have something to do with you falling into the sea. I have checked the record of the police station. After the accident, your brother accused Azalea of murder. She was arrested and interrogated by the police. Later, the Davis family was the one who bailed her out with a price of tens of millions of dollars.”
Abbie took in the information slowly. Leonard was implying that what happened to her was caused by her boyfriend, Michael, having an affair with Azalea. Did Michael and that woman, Azalea, set her up?
Although she had lost her memory, her bad temper and a strong sense of justice did not change. Anger surged in her heart. “So I was cheated on and murdered, but the culprit wasn’t punished at all, was he? Did my family stay back and do nothing?”
“Your family has done everything they can. They sent Azalea to the police station, but the Davis family hired a lawyer for Azalea and bailed her out. The police then released her due to inconclusive evidence,” Leonard repeated.
“So my family can’t do anything to Michael and Azalea, right?”
“This is the case at present. After all, the Davis family is of similar status as your family, and Michael is a lawyer. He is really good at his job. He is on a winning streak with every case he handles. Maybe he has done something that we don’t know of.”
“Is that so?” Abbie closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Leonard looked at her gaunt face as he played with his phone. “This is Michael, and that’s Azalea.”
When Abbie opened her eyes, she saw a photo of her snuggling in Michael’s arms. Her smile was sweet and lovely, while Michael looked indifferent. He didn’t seem happy at all.
Leonard tapped on his phone again. The next photo was Azalea and Michael’s. She was dressed nicely as she held Michael’s arm, a bright smile adorning her face.
Michael tilted his head while looking at her. His affectionate gaze was obvious.
When Abbie saw Michael and Azalea’s faces, she felt a surge of anger within her chest. She gnashed her teeth and spat, “Such a shameless couple!”
“There is one more thing I’m going to tell you. At first, the Davis family didn’t want to be enemies with the Clark family because of Azalea. They planned to kill the child in her belly and chase her away. It was Michael who saved her from the operating table and took her back to the Davis family.”
Leonard scrolled his phone and brought up a few pictures. “This is the news of Azalea’s car crash. It was reported that Michael had rushed to the hospital. He ran several red lights and rallied all the experts in the city to save her.”
Abbie’s gaze swept past the news. She was unable to recall the past, but she felt a sharp pang in her heart as soon as she saw the news.
Leonard heaved a sigh. “Azalea is probably Michael’s true love. Otherwise, I can’t figure out why he would give up on a beautiful, talented, and well-brought-up woman like you to choose a disgusting, shameless bitch like Azalea.”
“True love, huh?” A sneer appeared on Abbie’s face. She took a few deep breaths. “The doctor told me that I’m pregnant, so is the baby Michael’s child?”
“He is your only boyfriend, so I assume that it is his.”
“Get rid of the baby!” Abbie said coldly, “I don’t want the child of a jerk. I don’t want to have anything to do with that scum.”
“Okay!” Leonard nodded. “I’ll tell the doctors to make the preparations.”
Abbie felt as if all of her strength was drained from her body as she slowly laid back down.
Leonard helped her pull the blanket as he asked gently, “Miss Clark, do you want me to inform your family? Your parents and brother will be delighted to hear that you’re alive.”
Abbie didn’t speak, and Leonard didn’t ask any further questions. He waited for her answer in silence.
She only said after a long time, “No need for that! We don’t have to inform them that I’m still alive.”
“Why? Don’t you want to see them? Perhaps it can help restore your memory.”
“So what if I meet them? My family couldn’t avenge me when I died just like that? The shameless couple lives a great life too, don’t they? So what difference will it make if I inform my family?”
Abbie’s tone was calm. “Please don’t tell my family that I’m still alive. That Abbie in the past is dead, and now I’m being reborn. She will seek revenge personally from those who have wronged her!”
Leonard heaved a sigh of relief in secret. “That’s great. Please focus on your recuperation. Just let me know if you need anything. I’ll give you this phone. My number has been saved in there. You can call me anytime and anywhere as long as you want!”
