Wayne thought differently from Meadow, and his sharp senses were telling him that Francis must have other intentions in doing this.
Of course, he did not expect Francis to actually be a father figure to Azalea, but his intuition told him that this matter was not that simple.
Wayne went back to the study and thought for a while before he called Michael.
Michael had just finished his work and was ready to go back to the hotel. Wayne had called him three times in a row before Michael answered the phone impatiently. “What’s the matter?”
“Azalea was went home with Francis after she was discharged from the hospital.”
“Why did Francis take her with him? Didn’t I ask you to pick her up?”
“Your mother has lost her mind. She quarrelled with Francis when she went to pick up Azalea. He said that he wanted to adopt Azalea as his goddaughter before taking her away.”
Michael was stunned when he heard this. “Why?”
“I don’t know either. Michael, you spoke to Francis before. Do you know what he’s trying to do? With his status, he doesn’t seem to be the kind of person who would casually adopt a goddaughter. Why would he like Azalea in the first place? Do you think that there’s a hidden reason behind this?”
“How would I know?” Michael sneered. “Isn’t your hobby scheming against other people to get their assets? Francis might give Azalea a few shares and properties since she is now his goddaughter. This would probably give her a foothold to rise to the top, so would you and my mother change your attitudes towards her again?”
Wayne said with embarrassment when he heard Michael’s sarcasm, “I don’t think the shares and property are enough and I feel that there must be behind this. Why don’t you call Francis to find out the reason?”
“Do I look like I have time to do that?” Michael was angry. “Don’t bother me with these things and just solve it yourself!”
He threw his phone aside after he hung up and rubbed his forehead. Francis would never accept Azalea as his goddaughter for no reason, so there must really be a reason behind it.
What was the reason?
Just as he felt puzzled, a Hummer sped past from behind and almost brushed past Michael’s car.
The Hummer was so fast that it was going to hit their car. Then, the driver subconsciously turned the steering wheel to the left and bumped into the car in the left lane.
Michael did not fasten his seat belt, which caused his head to crash heavily into the window and he felt a wet substance flowing down his forehead. Then, saw that his hands were full of blood when he reached up to touch his head.
Both parties went to the police station to deal with the accident after that. Since Michael was injured, the police suggested that he should go to the nearby hospital to deal with his wound first.
Michael naturally didn’t want want to continue being in pain, so he agreed and went to the hospital to dress his wounds.
The doctor cleaned the wounds before placing the bandage on Michael. Michael’s white shirt was covered with blood and he looked haggard as he walked out of the hospital with the driver. Then, a Rolls-Royce stopped at the entrance of the hospital when he walked to the gate.
A tall and built man got out of the car in a hurry while he held his phone. The man was on a call, and his tone was both urgent and joyful. “How is she now? Can she talk and remember everything that happened? I am already at the gate of the hospital and I’m going up immediately!”
The man hurried inside while he was on the phone call and bumped into Michael. Then, the man suddenly stopped talking on the phone and apologized politely, “I’m sorry!”
The man apologized in a foreign language and looked at Michael, who had bumped into him. Then, he obviously took a step back when he saw Michael’s face.
His gaze was shocked and alert when he saw Michael, who had the same look of surprise as.
The man’s facial features were very similar to William’s. After they stared at each other for a moment, the man moved aside and rushed straight to the elevator.
Michael stood still and looked at the man’s figure. From the back, the man’s figure was almost a perfect replica of William.
How could there be two people that looked so alike in this world?
Michael watched as the man entered the elevator before he took out his mobile phone and dialled William’s number.
William’s voice was cold. “What?”
“William, do you know who I saw?”
“I don’t know, don’t keep me guessing and get to the point.”
Michael was really shocked. “I saw a man who looked very similar to you. Damn it, he looks just like you.”
“So? Did you call me just to tell me this?” William was obviously not interested in what Michael was saying.
“Aren’t you one of the most handsome men in the world? You’ll definitely be humbled when you see this man.”
“When the hell did I have that label? Besides, why would I feel humbled? Aren’t you too full of yourself?”
“Are you jealous? I knew that you’ll definitely be jealous and I would have taken a picture if I had known earlier. To be honest, this is the first time I’ve seen someone that looks so similar to you.”
Just as Michael muttered, he couldn’t hear anything from the other end of the phone. William had already hung up because the conversation was pointless.
Meanwhile, in the intensive care unit of the hospital. The woman, who had been unconscious all this while, opened her eyes and looked around in confusion.
The doctor and the nurse were doing a body checkup. After they found that the woman’s blood pressure and heart rate were normal, the doctor tried to talk to her “Hello! I am your attending doctor. Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”
“It hurts… my head…” The woman raised her hand slightly and pointed at her head.
“You’ve been sleeping for a long time because of your injury, so it’s normal for you to have a headache when you suddenly wake up. Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere else?”
The woman shook her head and the doctor asked again, “Do you know who you are?”
“Who… who am I?” The woman asked blankly. Her mind was empty and she could not remember anything.
“You don’t know who you are?” The doctor had actually seen the ct scan of her brain and he knew that such a situation would happen, but he still didn’t give up.
“Sorry, you have been staying at our hospital for almost 60 days. During this period of time, I don’t know your identity at all. Please tell us you know have any recollection of who you are, so that we can help you find your family.”
“Who am I?” The woman frowned as she tried her best to recall. Just as something flashed in her mind, she felt a burst of pain in her head. The pain was so unbearable that her face was scrunched up in pain.
“It hurts… so much…”
The doctor immediately comforted her when he saw her pained expression. “It doesn’t matter if you can’t remember. You should rest first and slowly recall your past memories. You will definitely remember what happened!”
The tall man was standing at the door of the ward while he stared at the woman lying on the bed with his charming gaze. He was attentive to all of her reactions, and he let out a sigh of relief when he saw the woman closing her eyes.
