Anna was examined in the hospital. The doctor treated her feet before she was sent home by Andrew.
Helen was startled when she saw Anna come back with a limp. “What happened?”
“Ah, it’s just bad luck. I ran into a crazy man. He scolded me and even pushed me, so I sprained my ankle.”
Helen looked at Anna suspiciously upon hearing this. “Are you sure you are not the one who pushed him first?”
“Helen, how can you doubt me?” Anna felt really wronged. “I’m a noble lady from a respectable family. How can I squabble with someone like a ruffian?”
Before Helen could say anything else, Richard came down from upstairs. “What’s the matter?”
“Anna was bullied when she went to see Andrew.” Helen told Richard, “Look, her ankle is swollen.”
Richard stared at Anna and looked at her carefully. He asked suspiciously, “Weren’t you meeting with Andrew in the Wolf Group? How can something happen there? Besides, did it actually happen right in front of Andrew? Isn’t that ridiculous?”
“It didn’t happen in front of it. I was too embarrassed to tell him.” Anna defended herself.
“What, you’re too embarrassed to tell him? Then you must be the one who provoked others. I know you very well. You’re unreasonable even when you’re the one at fault. Will you be forgiving when you’re in the right?”
Richard hit the nail on the head, so Anna dropped her pretense as well. “It’s not my fault this time. That bastard provoked me first. He scolded me for no reason, so I pushed him.”
Richard spread out his hand and shrugged upon hearing her words. “That’s right. I knew it. You’d better stay go back to your room. No wonder you don’t dare to tell Andrew the truth. If he knows your temper, I guarantee that he’ll run away from you as soon as possible.”
“Is it that serious?” Anna started to feel guilty upon hearing Richard’s words.
“Andrew likes girls who are gentle. He doesn’t like people with bad temper the most. Most importantly, you can’t stay even stay idle. You have to make trouble everywhere. I’m telling you, don’t even think about marrying into a rich and powerful family. You should lower your standard and choose from the lesser families.”
“Helen, did you hear what Richard said? He doesn’t want things to go well for me!” Anna was infuriated.
Helen also felt that Richard’s words were too harsh. “Richard, don’t stir up any more trouble. You don’t have to worry about Anna’s marriage. But we can’t let the matter of her being bullied tonight slide. Go ask if he knows what happened.”
“You’re too free. It’s already this late, don’t you think William will be resting? I’ll talk to him when I’m free tomorrow. Anyway, I have to remind you that I’ll punish you if I find out that it’s your fault,” Richard said as he went to the kitchen to get a bottle of water. Then went upstairs.
Anna gritted her teeth as she stared at his back. “Helen, is he really my brother?”
The next morning, in the hospital, Angel told Madelyn with a gloomy look, “Go and proceed with the discharge procedures. I’m bored of staying here.”
“Miss, why don’t you stay longer?” After being taught a lesson by Angel, Madelyn was much more well-behaved now.
“There’s no need to stay in the ward. As long as you don’t try to hurt me again, my child will be fine.”
A look of embarrassment flashed across Madelyn’s face. “I swear I won’t do it again!”
“You’d better mean what you say. Now go settle the discharge procedures.”
Madelyn went out to handle the discharge, while Angel waited in the ward.
About ten minutes later, Madelyn called her and said, “Miss, I don’t have money.”
Angel was upset when she heard about the word money. “How could you run out of money? Didn’t I give you 100, 000 dollars last time?”
“It’s all used up. Your food, drinks, and utilities are the most expensive in the hospital. It costs an arm and a leg. 100, 000 dollars has already been used up a long time ago. I was paying for the fees with my own money.”
Angel used to have the best things in the Floyd family, so she couldn’t change this habit in a short time. After being chased away, she had to have the best food and utilities, so naturally, the money wasn’t enough to support her spending habits.
After hearing Madelyn’s words, she was silent for a moment before she said impatiently, “I see. Wait a moment. I’ll make a phone call.”
Angel hung up and called Ornard. The phone was connected only after a while. Ornard clearly sounded tired. “What’s the matter again?”
Angel was upset when she heard his reply. She suppressed her anger and said, “I don’t have any money. Send me some.”
Ornard’s voice became stern all of a sudden. “What’s wrong with you? Didn’t I give you some money last time? It hasn’t been that long, so how can you spend it all?”
“It’s been two months, okay? It’s good that the little amount of money you gave me last such a long time. What else do you want? When I was in the Floyd family, everything I wore and ate is hundreds of times better than now. Besides, how many times have you given me money ever since I grew up?” Angel was displeased. “I need the money to go through the discharge procedures. Just give me some money as soon as possible.”
Ornard was unhappy as well. The company’s trouble came one after another recently, so he had a hard time taking care of things himself.
He had always thought that he was omnipotent, but now only he knew how serious the consequences of offending the Floyd family were.
After the credit crunch, the cooperation was canceled. He had to shut down several companies in succession in order to reduce the operating cost. Ornard would like her to change this habit.
He didn’t give her the money directly. “I’ll transfer the money to Paisley. If you need money in the future, you can ask her for help. She will supervise your usage of money.”
Angel raised her voice in response. “Why should Paisley take care of my money? Who does she think she is?”
“She is my wife and your stepmother. Who do you think she is? I’m telling you, I don’t have time to deal with you now. I’ll leave your matters to Paisley in the future. Talk to her if you need anything. I’ll call her and ask her to pick you up from the hospital. She’ll arrange for someone to handle the discharge.”
Ornard hung up the phone without giving Angel any chance to explain. She swore angrily, “Damn it! What the hell is this?”
She could do whatever she wanted and get whatever she wanted in the Floyd family, but now she was so poor. She was scolded for asking for a little money. Someone would be supervising her usage of money now. At the thought of this, Angel was furious.
If she had known this earlier, she would have stayed in the Floyd family obediently. As long as she didn’t do anything, the Floyd family would have been nice to her as always.
But regret wouldn’t do her any good now. The Floyd family’s attitude was clear, and she had no right to stay with them. Hence, there was only one way to go.
Angel called Madelyn and asked her to come back. The latter returned in confusion. “Miss, don’t you want to be discharged from the hospital anymore?”
“I’m leaving. We’ll speak after Paisley is here.”
Angel and Madelyn waited for about an hour. Paisley had arranged for Danya to go through the discharge procedures.
Angel was downcast again when she saw that Paisley didn’t even bother to come. The latter only sent her maid here.
Without waiting for Danya to be done with the discharge procedures, she ordered Madelyn directly, “Let’s leave!”
“Aren’t we waiting for her?”
“Why should we wait for her? She is just a servant. Who does she think she is, keeping me waiting like this?”
When Madelyn saw that Angel was about to blow her lid, she didn’t dare to say anything else. In the end, she had to accompany Angel to the parking lot.
