Azalea didn’t expect that Emily would refuse to answer her calls. As they watched Azalea, she felt very awkward. So she tried to hold her ground. “Why isn’t she answering her phone? My mom should be pretty busy now. She’s a translator. So she always put her phone in silent mode to ensure that her work quality is top-notch. How about this? Let me send her a text. She would surely reply to me when she sees it.”
Azalea then sent Emily a message in front of Wayne and Meadow. “Mom, my dad has met with Michael’s grandpa today. He surprisingly told Michael’s grandpa that I’m not his daughter. What’s going on?”
After sending the message, Azalea was no longer in the mood for lunch. She got up and went to the living room to wait for Emily’s reply.
Emily felt disgusted when she saw Azalea’s call. She was prepared to ignore Azalea since she first called. So when Azalea sent another message to ask, Emily felt even more disgusted.
Since she had promised Braelynn that she would not reveal Azalea’s identity, Emily could only lie to Azalea.
She did not answer Azalea’s call, so she naturally would not reply immediately. Emily threw her phone aside and went to the study to prepare for her translation work.
As soon as she turned on the computer, the doorbell rang.
Emily opened the door. Thomas stood at the door with a bag of fruits and smiled at her. “Aunt Emily, I’m here to see you!”
Seeing Thomas here, Emily was overjoyed. “Thomas! Come in quickly!”
Thomas handed the fruits to Emily and went to change his shoes to house slippers. When he saw there were two pairs of male house slippers in the shoe cabinet, he was stunned. Why would Emily have two pairs of male house slippers? If one were his, whose did the other one belong to?
Did Emily have a boyfriend? As Emily was so beautiful and had been single for so many years, it was normal for her to have a boyfriend. But who was her boyfriend?
Thomas was thinking about this when he sat on the sofa in the living room. He then saw that there was a male watch on the coffee table.
The watch was a Patek Philippe watch. It was apparent that Emily’s boyfriend was someone of high status.
Thomas then felt that the watch looked familiar. After giving it much thought, he realized that he saw the same watch on Callum’s wrist.
He then glanced at the finance magazines on the coffee table and remembered he saw the same magazines in Callum’s office. As he recalled that Emily and Callum were a couple previously, Thomas knew fairly well what was going on.
The owner of the slippers should be Callum if not mistaken.
While he was thinking, Emily brought him tea. Thomas asked tentatively, “Aunt Emily, who else has been here beside me?”
“It’s… a friend.” Emily then awkwardly changed the subject. “Thomas, shouldn’t you be at work at this hour? Why are you here to see me?”
“I’m not in a good mood!” Thomas told Emily straight up that he was in a bad mood.
A worried expression appeared on Emily’s face. “Tell me, what’s the reason?”
“A lot of things have happened recently. First of all, it was about Valeria. She was tricked because of me, and she went into early labor. Thank goodness she and her children are safe, and she does not blame me. But William, on the other hand, is pretty unhappy with me. There’s another thing. Abbie is dead.”
“What? When did this happen? Why is Abbie dead?” Emily didn’t know that Abbie was dead and was very surprised.
“Abbie has been dead for some time.” Thomas sighed. “I called Valeria today to ask her the reason behind Abbie’s death. Valeria told me that she was killed by Azalea!”
“How… how is this possible? How would Azalea dare to kill Abbie? Why did she kill Abbie?” Emily was shocked and asked a few questions.
“Azalea has always been despicable and shameless. She would resort to any conceivable means. As long as we give her a chance, she would kill anyone for the sake of her interests. Why did she dare to kill Abbie? That is because of the support she has from the Davis family. I’ve heard that she is now staying with them. As to why she killed Abbie? That is, of course, because of Michael. Michael loves Abbie, yet Azalea loves him. As long as Abbie is around, Azalea would have no chance with him. Only by getting rid of Abbie could she get Michael to see her.”
“How could she be so vicious? That’s terrible! Thomas, was there a mistake? If it really were Azalea who killed Abbie, why didn’t the Clark family do anything? With the Clark family’s abilities, how could Azalea come back to the country safely?”
“The Clark family applied to arrest Azalea overseas under the charges of murder. But the Davis family spent a lot of money to bail her out. Because there was no direct evidence that Azalea was the murderer, this matter could only be left aside. But everybody knows that Azalea was behind Abbie’s disappearance.”
Thomas took a breath and continued saying, “Valeria told me that the Davis family regarded Azalea as your daughter and the eldest daughter of the Floyd family. That is why they are helping her. I’ve asked Valeria if Azalea is the eldest daughter of the Floyd family, but she is unwilling to answer me, so I’ve come to see you. Please tell me, Aunt Emily, is Azalea, your daughter? Is she the eldest daughter of the Floyd family?”
Of course, Emily would not lie to Thomas. So she shook her head and denied it. “No! Azalea is not my daughter! She has nothing to do with me.”
“Are you telling me the truth? If she’s not your daughter, why did you help her?” Thomas didn’t believe Emily.
“I remember you’ve helped Azalea a lot. She has done so many disgusting and despicable things, yet you’ve always asked Mr. Floyd to clean up her mess. I know you’re a righteous person. If Azalea has nothing to do with you, why did you overlook her deeds time again? If not for you turning a blind eye, how would Azalea have the guts to mess with Abbie?”
Emily was speechless as she faced Thomas’ questioning. She did help Azalea because she regarded her as her daughter. Azalea was this cruel not only because it was her nature, but it also had a lot to do with Emily cleaning up her mess and conniving with her actions.
Emily looked ashamed. She knew that Thomas liked Abbie and that Abbie’s death was painful for Thomas to deal with. She could only apologize. “Thomas, I didn’t expect that something like this would happen because I was nice to Azalea. I’m truly sorry!”
“Aunt Emily, if you’re sorry, you should go to the Davis family and announce that Azalea has nothing to do with you so that the Davis family would stop sheltering her. Azalea would then lose their support.”
“Well… Thomas, it’s not that I’m unwilling to announce Azalea’s identity, but I couldn’t. I’ve promised someone that I won’t make public Azalea’s identity now.”
“Who did you promise?” Thomas asked.
“I can’t tell you now! I can only tell you that the person is very important to me.”
“An important person?” Thomas knew Emily well. In Emily’s life before this, the people she cared about were only Azalea and him. There wasn’t anyone else.
Now that Emily suddenly said that there was someone else important to her, Thomas instantly guessed. “Aunt Emily, is the person you’ve mentioned Mr. Floyd’s and your daughter?”
