Chapter 1384 Make Everything Clear

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat when she heard Thomas’ words. How could no one else know about Thomas and Valeria’s friendship? She always thought that that fact was well-known.
If what Thomas said was true, it would be a little troublesome for her. It was obvious why Thomas would doubt her and directly rush over to question her. She could not show a trace of fear. Thomas was not an ordinary person, so it would be terrible as long as she showed fear.
Evelyn straightened her neck and tried to lie. “How would I know what the culprit is thinking? Anyway, I didn’t plot against Valeria! I have nothing against her and I’m not familiar with her at all. I have no reason to plot against her.”
“You have a clear reason!” Thomas took a step closer. “You have feelings for William. If you want to marry him, you have to plot against Valeria and get her into an accident. Only then can your wishes come true!”
Thomas directly exposed Evelyn’s thoughts. She raised her hand and was about to hit Thomas, but he grabbed her forcefully. “Are you angry because of my words?”
“Thomas, you bastard! Let go of my hand, you’re hurting me!” Evelyn’s face changed because of the pain, but Thomas did not let go. He stared coldly at her as she was filled with guilt while she tried to defend herself.
“I’m not angry because of embarrassment! Thomas, how can you slander me like this? Am I the kind of person who will use all means to achieve their goals? You’re crossing the line! What will others think of me if this is spread out? My pride would be gone!”
Thomas sneered and said, “Evelyn, there is only the two of us here and I know very well who you are. You will do anything to achieve your goals!”
“Bastard!” Evelyn was so angry that she kicked Thomas, but he pushed her away.
“Evelyn! Don’t avoid my question. I came here today to find out the truth. Tell me, did you scheme against Valeria?”
Evelyn pretended to cry. “I didn’t! How many times do you want me to repeat myself before you believe me?”
Thomas was not moved by her tears and he continued to put pressure on her. “Now is not the time for you to be stubborn. If I can suspect that you were behind this, so can William and the Saunders family! I tell you, you should tell me the truth before the truth is exposed. I’m the only one who can settle this for you. Otherwise, you will have no way out when William and the Saunders family continue to investigate and find out about your crimes!”
Of course, Thomas didn’t want to help Evelyn. He just wanted to know the truth that she had used him to hurt a pregnant woman. Moreover, he had always treated Valeria as a sister. This method was too vicious, so he couldn’t protect Evelyn. He would never show mercy to her if she really did this.
Evelyn was not a fool. Thomas had come here to question her about Valeria’s matter and it would be strange if he was willing to help her.
She wouldn’t admit it even if she was beaten to death. However, she had to find a way to resolve it since Thomas accused her so aggressively.
Evelyn burst into tears. “Thomas, how can you do this? Valeria is in trouble, but you came to accuse me like this. Do you want to slander me? My family has treated you so well, so how can you repay our kindness by treating me like this?”
“I came to you for the sake of the Gurney family. If your grandfather finds out about this, I believe he will disown you on his family’s behalf!”
“I didn’t do such a thing and you can’t change the fact that I was framed. Thomas, you can call the police if you don’t believe me! Let the police come and prove my innocence!”
“Do you think I don’t dare to call the police?”
“I know that you’d do it! Thomas, are you doing this on purpose? You’re just going against me because you don’t like me. Do you think you can get rid of me after you label me as vicious? I’ve never thought about marrying you, so you don’t have to do this to me. Let me tell you, I will die if my reputation is ruined!”
Evelyn cried and grabbed her phone. “I want to call Grandpa to make this clear! I won’t marry you, and you don’t have to slander me like this!”
Thomas was not sure if his suspicions were wrong when he saw Evelyn’s self-righteous expression.
He watched as Evelyn dialled Francis’ number without hesitation. She must be innocent since she dared to make the call, right?
No matter what, he had to let Francis know about this. After all, Valeria had gotten hurt. Since William doted on Valeria so much, it was impossible for him not to investigate this. He would definitely investigate Evelyn as well at that time, so it was better for Francis to know about it in advance.
Francis was already asleep, but he was woken up by Evelyn’s call. She said, “Grandpa, Thomas went too far. He even suspected that I stole his phone and did something bad. He’s bullying me!”
Evelyn complained and told Francis what had happened. She told him about Valeria being harmed after Thomas’ phone was snatched away. Valeria had an accident because of this. Francis was so shocked that he was completely awake and he said, “This is not a small matter. Come to my place immediately and explain everything to me.”
Meanwhile, the three members of the Floyd family entered Valeria’s luxurious maternity ward and they congratulated the couple when they entered. Natalie, Archer, Gavin, and William all invited them to sit down hurriedly.
Hayden sat on the sofa with his eldest grandson in his arms. He didn’t move, nor did he have any intention of paying attention to the Floyd family.
The Floyd family didn’t care about Hayden’s attitude and they just wanted to see the newborn twins.
William took the baby from Hayden and passed it to Deborah while Gavin also passed it to Fandrey.
Fandrey and Deborah held the twins in their arms and they were so happy that they kept smiling. “They’re so cute! If they inherit William and Valeria’s good points, they’ll be absolutely charming when they grow up.”
The two babies weren’t asleep, so they looked at Fandrey and Deborah with their eyes wide open. Callum liked them as well. “Mom, Dad, let me hug them too!”
Deborah handed the baby in her arms to Callum and stood up. “Let me take a look at Valeria!”
“Valeria is tired and she’s resting,” William replied.
“I’ll just take a look at her and I won’t disturb her rest.”
William led Deborah into the room, where Valeria was fast asleep with her eyes closed. Deborah looked at Valeria and said, “She must be tired, right?”
“Yes!”
“William, you have to take good care of her. You don’t have to go to the company and just work from home during this period of time. A woman needs her husband’s care the most after giving birth, so you should accompany her and let her recover faster.”
William nodded. “That’s what I was thinking as well. I’ll stay at home with her during her confinement period.”
“That’s great. By the way, have you found a good midwife? If you haven’t found one, one of my helpers will be a great choice. Shall I ask her to take care of Valeria?”
“My father has already hired them and my mother-in-law has also found two candidates. There will be four of them.”
“That’s good. Your grandfather and uncle have prepared some small gifts for your children. They don’t have to wear them since they’re still so small and you can just keep them. This is for Valeria.”
Deborah took out the two locks and handed the housing contract to William.
